To be unhappy to see dogs in the garden

I walk along a local sustrans route, there is a newbuild estate, lovey houses built on the site of an old farm, and a couple lovely springers.
I dont like seeing them loose in their garden:
they look like they want to go for a lovely walk,
they might be stolen
they look abandoned
They might take off of their own accord.

The path is higher than the house so I look down on them

Can the dogs fly?

SaturdayNext · 08/01/2019 10:37

Do you have a garden, OP? Don't you ever let your dog run around in it?

BitOutOfPractice · 08/01/2019 10:37

Sorry to join in with the general tone of the thread but OP are you sure there's not a back story here? Otherwise the thread is a bit odd and your replies are rather strange too!

SaturdayNext · 08/01/2019 10:39

I guess if owners had any sense they would make sure fences are secure

Could you explain what you mean by this? Are you saying the fences aren't secure?

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:39

Nope,

I look down on them

Bingo.

Sammiejo12 · 08/01/2019 10:41

it's cruel to leave a dog in a house or confined enclosure for hours on end.

They're going to be much happier outside running around if that's what they are used to.

I've got 4 labs and they a outside dogs, have dog houses a barn and a sofa to sleep on and potter about all day. If I tried to bring them in they would freak out!

What a daft post this is 😂

SoupDragon · 08/01/2019 10:41

If they could run away they wouldn't be in the garden.

Personally, I wouldn't have a dog without a garden, and think people who do so are being a bit irresponsible.

echt · 08/01/2019 10:43

Seriously, OP. If you're that bothered, knock on the owners' front door and tell them what you think.

werideatdawn · 08/01/2019 10:43

You sound a bit...off.. like, unwell. Seriously.

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:44

You carry on with laughing at my opinion

I remember when I first got dog, I gaily joined the Doghouse threads. Aaaggh!! I received a thorough pasting on every subject.

I particularly remember one poster berating me for letting dog outside in the garden Confused . Apparently dogs should only go in the garden under supervision. Eh?

My dog has a large enclosed garden and he lurrrrves it. He snuffles around the borders, wees and poos in his favourite spots, sits in the sun, chases squirrels, rolls around, zooms round the shed etc etc etc.

GalacticChickenShit · 08/01/2019 10:45

Why not walk past (over? above?) the fence, shaking a box of Bonio, whispering "come see the puppies". Then you'd know if the garden was unsecured.

SoupDragon · 08/01/2019 10:45

I agree. Are you OK, honestly? You sound very down and are worried about things that really don't need worrying about.

adaline · 08/01/2019 10:46

My dog would be utterly miserable if he couldn't go and mooch around the garden. Some days he chooses not to, but he always has the option. He loves just having a sniff, he has a little patch he can dig if he wants to, and he has some balls and stuff out there to chase and play with.

It's good for dogs to be able to entertain themselves safely and independently. They shouldn't be attached to humans all the time.

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:46

Ah should I have posted there? Dries tears

You are right soup but I have to go now, thanks

Its not like the USA where people leave dogs in cages in their back yards.

FaFoutis · 08/01/2019 10:47

I hope the dog in the garden behind mine gets stolen. Fucking thing. (Of course, I mean fucking owners.)

Banjax · 08/01/2019 10:49

You're barking mad love

longwayoff · 08/01/2019 10:49

Onascale, your dogs have packed their bags? Did they leave a note? Aha, I thought not, they've obviously been stolen!

Is this true @HoraceCope? If so, you could start a new thread in Chat and talk it through. You’re not a troll, I know that, so do others but being like this isn’t ok and we might be able to help in some way.

Andjustlikethat · 08/01/2019 10:53

You might get more understanding from us if you explained how you know the fences aren't secure, giving snippy answers isn't helping us understand.
