To be unhappy to see dogs in the garden

I walk along a local sustrans route, there is a newbuild estate, lovey houses built on the site of an old farm, and a couple lovely springers.
I dont like seeing them loose in their garden:
they look like they want to go for a lovely walk,
they might be stolen
they look abandoned
They might take off of their own accord.

with your snorting.

Horace if you're so concerned then do something about it! What you're saying doesn't make any sense to me - my lab and springer mooch about in and out of the (secure) garden all day, but both get an hour's walk first thing in the morning and a good couple of hours later in the day. But we can't see what you can as we don't walk that Sustrans route daily. Only you can judge if it's a situation that needs reporting or not.

Kahlua4me · 08/01/2019 09:54

strawberrisc That constant barking would drive me mad. Have you tried ringing the council? Ours has a policy against dogs barking too much, although not sure how effective it is.

My friend had some neighbours who left their dogs in the garden all day and night so they barked constantly waking everybody up. These dogs then started digging under the fences and escaping which meant others had to keep returning them. Until one day my friend got home to find these dogs in her house, attacking her cat! They had come in through the cat flap. It was all very traumatic and the owners apologised but did little else. Never paid the vets bill for the cat, or stopped their dogs digging. Anyway, they have moved now as the landlord gave them notice to leave to due garden and fence damage.

report to who?

Andjustlikethat · 08/01/2019 09:55

I'm hoping for your sake op they don't have cctv that might have caught you taking a bit too much interest in their garden and dogs. Might be a bit of an issue for you...

Honestly do you really think we don't know that sometimes animals get stolen or run away? You just sound very strange and your sentences are very disjointed.

OwlBeThere · 08/01/2019 09:56

@Inapreviouslife we have one of those on my street! I’m not sure who he belongs to but you can often see him trotting along the roof tops. The first time I saw him I thought I was seeing things Grin

ChrisjenAvasarala · 08/01/2019 09:57

I think OP might be drunk.

treaclesoda · 08/01/2019 09:57

report to who?

The dog warden presumably.

Although our local dog warden would tell you to wind your neck in if you reported seeing a dog in an enclosed garden.

adaline · 08/01/2019 09:58

You're being ridiculous.

My dog loves nothing better than a sniff around the garden on his own. There's absolutely no need for me to stand out there with him - our garden is perfectly safe, the gate is locked and I can hear whenever someone opens it or tries to get in the garden.

He gets two walks a day and is well-cared for. Absolutely nothing wrong with dogs being outside in their own garden!

GalacticChickenShit · 08/01/2019 09:58

Horace, you're off your fucking nut.

BobbyBanana · 08/01/2019 09:58

In answer to your original question OP

Yes
You Are Being Unreasonable

HTH

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 09:59

I am not drunk!
just very tired

they might have cctv but that would be infringement of my right to walk along the route surely? anyway, I didnt want to look at fence, or security of it, too closely, due to dog's owners.
i dont know why i bothered with this thread, i guess I wanted to share but it has been pointless

It's a sustran? Therefore cctv would be in a public place?

And the owners were there? Not playing with the dogs or anything, probably hitting them or throwing rocks?

YepImafraidIchangeditagain · 08/01/2019 10:03

Or maybe they came outside because creepy creeperson keeps on taking sloooooow walks by their garden with a bag of chicken!

OwlBeThere · 08/01/2019 10:03

@Horace: I’m concerned, Aibu?
Everyone: yes
Horace: no I’m not
Everyone: report it then
Horace: to whom?

So what is you’re wanting from us exactly?

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:04

no, owners presumably in the house

what an odd comment,
how amusing

OP posts:
Passing4Human · 08/01/2019 10:05

report to who?

I dunno, the Supreme Being? Who do you normally report to OP.

StreetwiseHercules · 08/01/2019 10:05

My dog loves being in our front and back garden and can come and go as she pleases. Our back garden is essentially a secure field and the dog spends a lot of time trying to catch rabbits, passing foxes and also likes to try to lure birds by leaving out food. Fucking loves it and it can be hard to get her in at night and have often been out in my dressing gown to try to get her in.

Only ever manages to catch mice.

Occasionally we will even go out and leave her outside if she refuses to go in and we are in a rush.

BelindasRedPlasticHandcuffs · 08/01/2019 10:05

They might be stolen because they're in the back garden? What?

Why do you think these things op? What is it that make you think they stolen, abandoned or want to go for a walk... nothing that you've said actually makes any sense Confused

Are they malnourished? Are they digging to get out of the garden so you're concerned they might escape? Or are they, you know, just enjoying being in the fresh air as most dogs do?

JessicaSimpson · 08/01/2019 10:06

Are you ok OP?

OwlBeThere · 08/01/2019 10:07

Well then it’s quite difficult to help if you don’t even know what you want from the post. If you’re concerned the rspca or local dog warden would be the place to start. On the face of it I wouldn’t be worried, but I haven’t seen these dogs. What kind of condition do they look in?

MamaLovesMango · 08/01/2019 10:07

i dont know why i bothered with this thread

I think a lot of us feel the same way as you do about this thread.

I am glad yoru garden is safe, slow hand clap, good for you

Don’t be so fucking rude when you’re the one being so unbelievably ridiculous. You have absolutely not a shred of evidence that there’s anything untoward going on. What did you want? Validation that you’re quite right and should phone the RSPCA even though all your ‘worries’ are completely unfounded? Your OP is the doggy equivalent of all the ‘cat ladies’ posts on my village FB Page. ‘There’s a cat! Outside! It looks lost!’

Utter madness.
