To be unhappy to see dogs in the garden

I walk along a local sustrans route, there is a newbuild estate, lovey houses built on the site of an old farm, and a couple lovely springers.
I dont like seeing them loose in their garden:
they look like they want to go for a lovely walk,
they might be stolen
they look abandoned
They might take off of their own accord.

I am always often reading about dogs being stolen from their back gardens.
i shall care less now because apparently you lot all leave your dogs in the garden so that is ok
fine

I presume this situation looked a lot more alarming that you have described it, OP Grin

SaucyJack · 08/01/2019 10:10

Mate, you don’t sound quite right at the moment.

Have you had a dog stolen yourself, or anything else happen that would explain why you’re reacting negatively to two healthy dogs pootling around their own garden?

Branleuse · 08/01/2019 10:11

outrageous. They should be locked up inside the house, or walked constantly

MamaLovesMango · 08/01/2019 10:12

I agree with Saucy there must be something else going on in the background here. Is there, OP?

Onascaleof1tolovelywalks · 08/01/2019 10:12

I've actually NC on th strength of this golden thread.

I'll always be Yep at heart.

OP- thanks for the dose of crazy making me procrastinate from work all morning.

Shit! Forgot to walk the dog! He's packed his bags and left.

GalacticChickenShit · 08/01/2019 10:14

On FB, by any chance? Bet it's by damn durty forriners too!

Babysharkdoodoodoodo · 08/01/2019 10:15

Christ almighty! Our dogs actually lived in the garden (2 acres), in their very nice hand made kennels. They were never allowed in the house.

Halfahunnerstillastunner · 08/01/2019 10:16

Knowing springers, if the garden wasn't fully enclosed and safe they would be half way across the country having a giant adventure at the first opportunity. So I think we can safely say the garden is non escapable.
As for the rest, just Confused

fleshmarketclose · 08/01/2019 10:18

I would imagine if the garden wan't enclosed the dogs would take off tbh. My own needy dog rarely goes in the garden but if the gate was open she'd go through it just in case she could scavange something to eat or roll in something foul in spite of being well fed here and walked twice a day.

user1495884620 · 08/01/2019 10:18

I let my kids out in the garden unsupervised and (sorry dog owners!) they are far more precious than a springer spaniel. They could run away or be stolen. Plus, they have opposable thumbs to open the gate so a much higher risk of escape.

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:19

I hope you are right half, I guess if owners had any sense they would make sure fences are secure

Otterseatpuffinsdontthey · 08/01/2019 10:20

Q

MamaLovesMango · 08/01/2019 10:22

So you definitely know their fences aren’t secure then?

Onascaleof1tolovelywalks · 08/01/2019 10:22

OP- stop sticking your head and shoulders through the fence, no wonder they're a little wobbly.

Andjustlikethat · 08/01/2019 10:30

So the fences are definitely not secure? I'm thinking about all the new builds near me, they all have 6ft fences and gates and I couldn't actually see in any of their back gardens. Unless you are up close and personal, how do you know the state of the fences? Confused

GalacticChickenShit · 08/01/2019 10:31

Breaking news:

Footage has been uncovered from the 'tag-cam' of a dog playing out in its garden...

HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:33

These new builds are not like your new builds,

OP posts:
HoraceCope · 08/01/2019 10:34

The path is higher than the house so I look down on them

OP posts:
Andjustlikethat · 08/01/2019 10:35

What? How the hello you know what my new builds are like? Have you got your head through my back fence now too? This is just getting more bizarre post by post.

Onascaleof1tolovelywalks · 08/01/2019 10:36

These are local new builds for local people.

EyeDrops · 08/01/2019 10:36

...but not enough to see whether the garden is enclosed?

Do you never see other dogs in gardens? If you did, would you be similarly worried, just because they're in the garden? Or is there any other sign of a problem?

SaskiaRembrandtWasFramed · 08/01/2019 10:37

As a former springer 'owner', if these are springers the garden must be enclosed or they'd be halfway to Lanzarote by now. Also, springers are generally not dogs who enjoy being indoors, they hate being cooped up. Finally, if someone did want to steal them they'd have to catch them first, and I'd pay good money to watch that performance.

OP, I'm sure you mean well, but your posts make you sound like a weird dog stalker.

SaturdayNext · 08/01/2019 10:37

they might have cctv but that would be infringement of my right to walk along the route surely

Nope. Everywhere you walk, particularly when you are in towns, you could be on CCTV, it is not an infringement of any right.

JessicaSimpson · 08/01/2019 10:37

I'm pretty sure Cruella DeVille wouldn't have let the Dalmatian run free in the gardens of hell hall, she kidnapped them and concealed them inside of the property so they wouldn't be seen.

I can't imagine any dog nappers letting their stolen goods spend all day outside for the world to see.
