To hate red trousers on men?

This seems to be a status marker meaning I am very posh, so it doesn't matter if I look like a total nob.

I’m not judgemental enough to care.

MulderitsmeX · 05/01/2019 13:37

Trackie bottoms or really tight jeans i don't like at all.
Colourful (any colour) trousers on men look nice, burgundy and forest green are my faves or a nice light blue. Postbox red is ok but, pink is quite quirky and beige is also nice.

I like colourful trousers for me too :)

Bluntness100 · 05/01/2019 13:37

I think lots of groups of people have clothes they tend to wear. I really don't understand why you feel so angry and strongly about this particular one. And you do come across as angry and aggressive.

So what, they can wear what they want. Just as someone else can wear other items of clothing that may mark them out to others.

When you start to be all angry and aggressive about it, you maybe have to pause and think about what's your real problem.

abacucat · 05/01/2019 13:43

Laughing at the idea that this is fashion. Agree with a previous poster that only if you are over a certain age, vote Tory and are well off. They are very common in certain areas such as East Sussex, and totally absent in areas where this type of man does not tend to live.

Totally absent? Really? Preppy style is very in fashion. I don't know many men over 55 and don't live anywhere near East Sussex.

kaytee87 · 05/01/2019 13:45

Also you're saying well off as if it's some sort of insult. Bizarre. You clearly have a huge chip on your shoulder.

Bluelady · 05/01/2019 13:48

My bloke loves red trousers. He's not remotely posh.

GinGeum · 05/01/2019 13:52

My DH loves red or pink trousers, has numerous pairs. When we were first dating, a very posh friend of mine nodded in his direction and said ‘only a farmer would think red trousers are a good look’. I think he looks good in them though!

abacucat · 05/01/2019 13:53

kaytee I never see any men wearing red trousers unless I visit my family in the countryside down south who are labourers and contractors on farms. So no it is not general fashion. I live near a big city, so we are not talking about a small population.

OP you seem very chippy. Imagine if I said 'I hate low-slung trackies on men, it seems to be a status marker saying I am very common.'

Get over your class issues and you will be happier, I promise.

GemmeFatale · 05/01/2019 13:56

I think of them as a military thing. Because jeans aren’t allowed in the mess coloured chinos or cords are seen as the relaxed alternative to suit trousers.

Honeyroar · 05/01/2019 13:56

I don't think it's particularly a posh thing, it's a horsey set thing. The female equivalent wears a green tweed miniskirt and Durbarry leather boots. You see it all the time at big horse trials. They're quite often not at all posh, but wish they were!

MargueritaPink · 05/01/2019 13:56

I’d rather see a man in red trousers than ill fitting jogging bottoms. They are far more offensive
And already the insults of poor people start on the thread. This is common place although nobody says poor, they talk about taste

And yes red trousers look bloody ridiculous

You are ridiculous OP. You started the thread for no purpose other than to ridicule one style of dressing. Now you are infuriated because posters have said they think red cords are better than horrible track suit bottoms which have genitalia exposed.

As far as I'm concerned the most awful piece of men's clothing are exactly that type of clothing- especially grubby white track suits.

CalamityJane10 · 05/01/2019 13:57

I think they look great.

But I love a bit of colour.

kaytee87 · 05/01/2019 13:59

Because you haven't seen it then it can't possibly be fashion?

ViolaLucyofTirol · 05/01/2019 14:00

I have some lovely bright trousers; some from joules, some from Whistles some from Primark..... Do l need an existential crisis?! OP they are just clothes! Lots of hatred for what's basically some fabric!

abacucat · 05/01/2019 14:00

No not furious at all, mildly amused. And no I don't like seeing obvious male genitalia either.
I suspect those who are posh are just not used to anyone saying anything negative about their status markers.
When MN is full of sneering at poorer people.
Get over my class issues?? Yes I get told that as often as I get told to get over my race issues by white people. Sigh.

In case anyone else hasn’t posted it already.

😂😂😂 are you kidding?!

NewYearsNiamh · 05/01/2019 14:02

Oh IJustWant beat me to it Blush Grin

abacucat · 05/01/2019 14:05

Maybe I am wrong Kaytee. I don't know in real life, but I don't see it on here.

OP posts:
Whisky2014 · 05/01/2019 14:05

Ok it is clear OP is jealous and has problems with people having more money than her. God forbid people wear what they like. How pathetic.

KiteMarked · 05/01/2019 14:06

I want some red trousers now.

abacucat · 05/01/2019 14:06

Grin always makes me laugh when people say disagreement is about jealousy. If we suddenly came into lots of money, there is NO WAY that DP is buying red or mustard coloured trousers.

OP posts:
ZigZagZombie · 05/01/2019 14:06

I had a colleague wore these - I silently sneered.

I didn't sneer when he married himself a billionaire.

If you want to hook a billionaire it's got to be worth a shot right?
