To hate red trousers on men?

This seems to be a status marker meaning I am very posh, so it doesn't matter if I look like a total nob.

I rather like a man in cords or chinos of any colour. Better than god awful grey track suit bottoms where you can see cock and balls swinging about.

abacucat · 05/01/2019 13:08

I’d rather see a man in red trousers than ill fitting jogging bottoms. They are far more offensive
And already the insults of poor people start on the thread. This is common place although nobody says poor, they talk about taste.

And yes red trousers look bloody ridiculous.

My df has a red suit.

Yes.. a red suit. I hate it and always joke... Not joke that it needs to be burned.

He loves it. He is far from posh. He thinks he looks and feels amazing in it.

HowlsMovingBungalow · 05/01/2019 13:08

Salmon pink/ mustard yellow chinos should go into room 101, as should tight cropped jogging bottoms.

All a crime against fashion.

abacucat · 05/01/2019 13:10

You see if someone is wearing way out clothes all over and red or mustard trousers, then I think that is about their taste. But mostly it is very conservatively dressed posh men with red or mustard trousers. That is about status.

You can pick up a pair of trousers just as cheaply as a pair of jogging bottoms.

Bowchicawowow · 05/01/2019 13:10

Nobody where I live would be seen dead wearing red trousers.

LakieLady · 05/01/2019 13:11

Come to Sussex for the weekend, Elfina, you can't move for the damn things. Although I think we may have passed Peak Red Trouser now, I'm seeing fewer RTs and the mustard/ochre/umber/old gold shades seem to be in the ascendant.

DP refers to any colour of this type as "baby shit".

SneakyGremlins · 05/01/2019 13:11

My chinos are dark red. Is that acceptable? And no I'm not rich by any means.

kaytee87 · 05/01/2019 13:11

Or about fashion?! Men are allowed to like fashion too.

dannydyerismydad · 05/01/2019 13:11

I used to live in the Netherlands. Dutch men love colourful legwear.

Dutch trousers make me happy.

abacucat · 05/01/2019 13:12

Not true. You can get jogging bottoms for £4 a pair.

abacucat · 05/01/2019 13:13

kaytee I said it tends to be men who are otherwise very conservatively dressed. Not the type of men who follow fashion. Unless it is the latest old school tie.

My husbands just come back from a jog in red trackies Shock

What does that make him??? A posh chav???

kaytee87 · 05/01/2019 13:14

Pretty sure if you looked you could find similarly cheap trousers that weren't joggers.
Plenty of the joggers you see for sale are extortionate (Armani anyone? 🤮)

kaytee87 · 05/01/2019 13:15

@abacucat how much do you know about men's fashion? It's very 'in' at the moment to wear coloured cords or chinos along with a shirt and traditional sports jacket - fashion

Fontofnoknowledge · 05/01/2019 13:18

My DH has Green cords AND red ones. I bought them for him. He looks bloody fantastic in them. !

We do live in East Sussex though !

Amanduh · 05/01/2019 13:18

I’d rather see those than jogging bottoms x1000.
They’re not a status marker. They’re just fashion and what people like to wear in certain places 🙄 why can’t people say ‘jogging bottoms are a marker for poor people’ if you can say ‘red trousers are a marker for posh people’ then??
I think a man in coloured trousers and a white shirt looks quite classic actually.
Oh and coloured chinos are definitely not conservative - they’re everywhere at the moment. I don’t think you really know what you’re talking about OP...

adaline · 05/01/2019 13:21

Not true. You can get jogging bottoms for £4 a pair.

Yes, but they don't have to be Ill-fitting at that price.

Bowchicawowow · 05/01/2019 13:24

Most people but their jogging bottoms from Primark don’t they?

Sparklingbrook · 05/01/2019 13:26

DS lives in a town where this is rife. Grin

John Finnemore's Red Trousers is worth a listen!

missyB1 · 05/01/2019 13:31

Fashionable??! Only if you are over 55 vote Tory and drive a Landrover! Jeez they are out in full force in our town on race weeks, but even on an average weekend they are all milling around the posh end of town with their Barbie doll wives.
And yes I hate the trackie bottoms /low slung jeans look too - should be illegal over the age of 16!

BikeRunSki · 05/01/2019 13:33

@Thesmallthings is your husband’s surname Claus by any chance ? Grin

Whisky2014 · 05/01/2019 13:35

Ok so you think it's wrong for rich people to mock poor people. Why is it then ok for you to mock rich people?
You are jealous of people with money.
