They really don't need to be open today, seems silly that most are open Sunday hours and taking people away from enjoying the day with family

I have no family around so this morning I popped into Selfridge's in London for a bit of shopping. It was quite full of tourists doing their shopping, which given the state of retail, can only be a good thing.

Yes, some people might hate working today, but for many others it will be another day, another way if earning money.

Should all hotels also shut and send the visitors home?

I just can't believe this thread. It's actually completely and utterly insane.

KimchiLaLa · 01/01/2019 22:17

@KimchiLaLa I've just done a food shop

Oh really! The two major shopping centres near me were closed. How weird! If they were open, I probably would have gone.

MrMeSeeks · 01/01/2019 23:43

wo nine hours shifts back to back when you probably sit down most of the time

Wow. In all my retail days i wish i’d have been able to sit down instead of running around for 9/10 hours.Hmm

Oh. And if your silly little campaign should succeed.... shops will be closed just like eater Sunday
But the retail staff still go in to work whilst doors are closed to the public!!

A lot of places are closed for retail staff also.
