I really don’t love NYE it always feels like a let down and now, after five years of plans that were all a bit meh it turned out, we are going to be home alone with takeaway or cheeseboard, a bottle of lovely champagne and whichever film or trash tv we choose, maybe a card game...

And I am SO HAPPY about it.

just spoke to a few friends who said “you should at least get out to the local for one or two, it’s NYE!!!” And seemed completely appalled that I would consider champagne in my pjs a good way to see in the new year Grin

I even had a friend show up at my house to take me out, but ... I dont think so. Sitting on sofa in jammies with eldest DC cuddling, I'm set for a peaceful evening.
Much prefer to enjoy New Years Day and take a beautiful nature walk somewhere inspiring!

For the past few years we have gone to the same party night at the same hotel with the same group of friends. I can't honestly ever remember really enjoying it, I love going out with these friends normally but on N.Y. Eve everyone gets way too drunk and it feels like people are just trying too hard.

So this year DH and I caused a bit of a stir by not going. Instead we went out for an early dinner and are now in our PJs in front of the fire with the telly on. I am picking DS1 and GF up at half one, no chance of a taxi, so am not drinking. Let's face it I have had more than enough alcohol this last week.

But right now I couldn't be happier!

greenpop21 · 31/12/2018 22:48

Night all. Grin Happy 2019!

DeRigueurMortis · 31/12/2018 23:08

That looks as good as my espresso martini @mmmgoats :-)

They are so yummy!

Do you just make your own or get a kit like I did?

Hope everyone is as content and snuggly as I am right now Smile

JustLurkingAway · 31/12/2018 23:22

I'm glad I'm staying in! Much prefer just watching the fireworks on tellyGrin

TheDogsMother · 31/12/2018 23:25

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 23:29

I have eaten so much tonight I feel like I’ve put on about a stone 😂
No regrets though, will be in bed by 12.15

Oh that salted caramel vodka version sounds lovely!!!

I'm going to give that a whirl!

BarbarianMum · 31/12/2018 23:33

I've just escaped from a party where I was feeling both socially awkward but also bored stiff and was feeling guilty for being such a terrible, ungrateful, antisocial person. So nice to know Im not the only one. Smile

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 23:34

Well done @barbarianmum and welcome 😂
You’ve escaped in time to see in the new year at home!

Just finished my last glass of bubbles and DH has flicked the kettle on. Watching the end of Skyfall and am likely to be in bed by 12:05. Completely perfect evening and considering I’m turning 40 this year it has definitely set the tone for a year of doing things my way! X

April2020mom · 31/12/2018 23:36

I also have no plans. We were originally supposed to be at a church party but there’s been sickness lately so I got a call yesterday saying that it’s cancelled. So I ended up putting on a film and plan to watch the countdown on the television too.

BagelGoesWalking · 31/12/2018 23:43

Haven't really done anything special for NYE for years but feeling pissed off tonight.
I'm stuck in the bedroom with DH as DD19 is downstairs with friends and doesn't want us there!

Tried to interest DH in going out to a pub but no, he's a boring old git who never wants to do anything - with me anyway or so it seems. He hardly ever wants to go out, we sometimes go to the cinema and that's it.

Have decided I will plan something for myself next year. I may be 53 but I'm not bloody dead yet!

TornFromTheInside · 01/01/2019 00:00

Happy New Year everybody!!!

Banterlope · 01/01/2019 00:07

My dog has chucked up her dinner, I have vomit on my elbows. House full of screaming drunk teenagers and I'm on my own. Yay

DeRigueurMortis · 01/01/2019 00:20

DeRigueurMortis · 01/01/2019 00:22

TornFromTheInside · 01/01/2019 00:22

{{{{ hug }}}} banterlope

DeRigueurMortis · 01/01/2019 00:24

Banter sorry that's grim..... unless you get the teens on clean up duty Wink

Kemer2018 · 01/01/2019 00:26

It's difficult here because I'd rather go to bed at 10 try to ignore it.
But partner likes being with friends n family. I love friends and family but I'm depressed every new year, so i struggle around folk.
We're with my folks and I've enjoyed being with them but I'm a hermit really.

sandgrown · 01/01/2019 00:30

Bagel my DP is the same . Never wants to go anywhere just watch TV . I could have gone out but feel guilty leaving him.on NYE. Next year I am determined I will go out. I am.older than you but still want to have fun too

mmmgoats · 01/01/2019 00:31

Ohhh the vomit sounds grim make the teenagers do it!

Sorry to hear that @kemer2018 xx

I poked my nose out of the balcony door at midnight and was surrounded by panoramic fireworks - can’t believe I paid to go to a display in previous years! Grin
