To be bloody delighted we have no NYE plans this year!

I really don’t love NYE it always feels like a let down and now, after five years of plans that were all a bit meh it turned out, we are going to be home alone with takeaway or cheeseboard, a bottle of lovely champagne and whichever film or trash tv we choose, maybe a card game...

And I am SO HAPPY about it.

just spoke to a few friends who said “you should at least get out to the local for one or two, it’s NYE!!!” And seemed completely appalled that I would consider champagne in my pjs a good way to see in the new year Grin

we just have ds1 and family coming over to play games and a cuddle with my 10 week old gd. Ds2 and partner will be in too.
It's usually just me and dd so some company will be nice.
Dh is a musician so we never spend NYE together.

plominoagain · 31/12/2018 16:23

I finished work at 7 this morning , after working all through Christmas , and I’m told by DH and DCs that my evening is going to consist of having a bubble bath in my very nice bath stuff I got for Christmas , whilst sipping from a glass or two of something fizzy whilst reading my new book , and then getting into my new pjs , whilst DH cooks the load of party food he’s bought , and then sitting in front of the woodburner with said party food , and then eating our own body weight in cheese . Can’t wait .

BlessYourCottonSocks · 31/12/2018 16:23

I'm already in my pjs and quite happy. Used to love NYE and crowded pubs. Now I'm happier on the sofa doing nothing.

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 16:27

@hendal your outfit sounds amazing. Quite like the idea of dressing up to stay in even though the idea of dressing up to go out doesn’t appeal 😂

Same here :) we haven't been out for NYE for the last 3 years.

We are having a little party for 4 - me, DH, DD (9) and DA (14). I have easy party food from Iceland, Prosecco for me, schloer for kids, the new logo board game and a salted caramel cheesecake!

PJs and fluffy socks at the ready! I'd much rather and 2018 and start 2019 with this lot than a bunch of random drunk strangers anyway!

MadisonAvenue · 31/12/2018 16:28

I haven't been out on NYE since having kids, and the oldest is 22 soon.
I really can't be bothered with it all, both kids will be out so we're getting a takeaway and watching TV. No doubt that the dog will need calming down when the fireworks start.

fikel · 31/12/2018 16:28

Love being at home with my DD and doggie but tonight I’m going to make an effort. We have a restaurant so going to go at midnight and watch the fireworks

PumpkinKitty82 · 31/12/2018 16:29

My dream NYE by the sounds of it!

OutPinked · 31/12/2018 16:32

I did have fantastic NYE’s in 2015 and 2016 but I went to planned ticketed events which I think helped a lot. Last year DP and I decided to just go drinking and see what happened. We ended up waiting ages in the freezing cold for a taxi home, paid for a dodgy pizza on the way home and were in bed for 1 AM Grin. I also had a drink poured on me by some weirdo in one bar we’d never ventured into before or since... It did all feel like a bit of an expensive let down last year. Most places weren’t even as bustling as we’d expected, atmosphere just felt a bit flat.

Now have a nine week old so we’re going for a meal together soon then home to watch Netflix.

enoughisenough2 · 31/12/2018 16:33

Same here!! Not even drinking... don’t feel like it

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 16:34

We don’t even have kids yet so can’t use that as an excuse usually but I’ve decided one of my resolutions is to stop doing things I THINK I should be doing and do what I want instead (within reason. Robbing the Crown Jewels because I want a sparkly tiara to wear when I do the hoovering probably isn’t advised Grin).

@lambzig yesss join us on the “dark” side as my friend put it, and stay in. think how lovely it’s going to be to please yourself and just chill out.

@derigueurmortis snap! We shall be moving and shaking with some espresso martinis too - see, we know how to party!

just wanted to say much love and sympathies to all those who haven’t had a great year or are dealing with family illness etc - we had a bad year in 2017 with pregnancy loss etc and it makes it feel like a pretty sad time of year in my experience. so I hope 2019 is a better one or brings good along with any bad you might have been suffering xx

I’m currently wearing navy pyjamas and monkey socks.

Ds2 is making cookies
Dh is on his way home
Ds1 is playing mario......

OneStepMoreFun · 31/12/2018 16:36

I bloody wish we didn't. Most years I'm up for a party and there isn;t one. This year I was so looking forward to a cosy night in with DH and DC - champagne and fireworks in the back garden then bed by 12.15. But we went to a party last night and met friends we'd not seen for years and now we're all meeting up, and I just want to put my pyjamas on and watch Jools.

Jellycatspyjamas · 31/12/2018 16:37

I haven’t got out of pjs all day. Have watched some tv, read books, played games with the kids and an about to enjoy an indulgent bath with very nice bath stuff. Party food for dinner, a good champagne once the kids are in bed and probably seeing in the new year watching tv in our comfy bed. And I couldn’t be happier.

19lottie82 · 31/12/2018 16:38

I haven’t gone out on Hogmanay in years. I do like to celebrate the new year though, so meet my chums in the pub on New Year’s Day. It’s great, you get to feel all superior for being out and unhungover, and there are none of the crazy crowds.

merrymouse · 31/12/2018 16:49

The great think about the internet is you don't even have to wait till midnight to celebrate New Year. Just pick a country with a more convenient time zone.

TallulahBetty · 31/12/2018 16:55

Yep. Just getting over 4 days of norovirus so will be staying in with telly and pjs, but even if we hadn't had it, we'd only be doing the same at a relative's house.

LoniceraJaponica · 31/12/2018 16:59

Am I the only mumsnetter who doesn't wear pyjamas? Grin

I find them too hot in bed, and if I wore them through the day I would be too unmotivated to do anything.

DeRigueurMortis · 31/12/2018 17:03

@mmmgoats

I keep eyeing my cocktail shaker and wondering how soon is it reasonable to start making those martinis GrinGrinGrin

My resolve is dwindling - I'm not sure I'm going to be able to hold out until 7pm as planned BlushBlush

Thankfully I bought an 8 serving box!!!!

sulflower · 31/12/2018 17:07

Jealous! For the first time in what seems ages we are going out. Seriously cannot be arsed.

greenpop21 · 31/12/2018 17:09

Am I the only mumsnetter who doesn't wear pyjamas?

I do but only in bed! Don't get the whole wearing PJs in the daytime thing. But that's a whole other thread! Not to self to be more tolerant in 2019.

greenpop21 · 31/12/2018 17:10

I haven’t got out of pjs all day

Can't resist asking if that means you haven't washed?

WoodBurnerBabe · 31/12/2018 17:11

I have plans. They involved several G&T's and my knitting. The best kind of plans

Lokisglowstickofdestiny · 31/12/2018 17:12

Never go out on NYE. We have some nice grub, bottle of wine and watch a film, don't usually make it to midnight!

TallulahBetty · 31/12/2018 17:13

Personally I hate STAYING in jammies from the night before. I'll get up, wash, and change into fresh ones
