To be bloody delighted we have no NYE plans this year!

I really don’t love NYE it always feels like a let down and now, after five years of plans that were all a bit meh it turned out, we are going to be home alone with takeaway or cheeseboard, a bottle of lovely champagne and whichever film or trash tv we choose, maybe a card game...

And I am SO HAPPY about it.

just spoke to a few friends who said “you should at least get out to the local for one or two, it’s NYE!!!” And seemed completely appalled that I would consider champagne in my pjs a good way to see in the new year Grin

cricket sorry but my espresso martinis are mine, all mine (except for sharing with DH which is a good thing or I might get a tad too squiffy as they go down very nicely indeed).

Amazon is your friend...well that's where I got mine from anyway, in a big box with all the ingredients /instructions/shaker etc and it's yummy Smile

dingdang · 31/12/2018 19:10

I've been at work till lunchtime went out for lunch with wine then headed home to make soup and chill. I'm going to yoga first thing tomorrow and am delighted to not be going out!

pisspawpatrol · 31/12/2018 19:17

I love staying in for new year. Never been a fan of NYE parties, they're such a let down. Besides, there have been so many crap years for us recently that I find celebrating a shit year just gone and an unknown one to come a bit daft. It feels like it just adds to the sense of disappointment when a year turns out to be shit, so I'd rather drink gin and Bailey's in my pyjamas in front of the tv and just get on with life as normal.

It's just another day (like Christmas!)

rach2713 · 31/12/2018 19:18

38 weeks pregnant so I'm trying to keep her in just a few days longer kinda don't want her just yet. So going to lay on the sofa with a big box of sweets and a bottle of cola and not move lol..

I used to love NYE, dressing up, tickets to the best clubs etc.

All changed when I hit around 30 and now I love staying in with party food and snacks and watching Jools Holland. This year we’ve even taken the Christmas decs down today so tomorrow morning we’ll wake up with clear heads and house, lovely!

Sorry for the triple post but I’ve just discovered that espresso martini goes really well with cheese and biscuits

As you were...

YANBU. We went out to our lovely local pub for a drink this afternoon but we are spending the night at home with some lovely food and drink, just the two of us.

PIL might join us at some point but I love them and it will still be a nice night. I love new year, so much more relaxed than Christmas, I actually find it more festive.

AngeloMysterioso · 31/12/2018 20:06

DH and I will go to the local Indian for a meal, then come home, have a few drinks and watch telly. Same as last year, same as the year before. All our friends have young kids so we never get invited to do anything with anyone else.

whycantIthinkofadecentusername · 31/12/2018 20:26

We’ve had pizza delivered with DS, I have a frankly delicious bottle of wine, cookies fresh from the oven and the Van Belsing box set (new TV series). Wouldn’t have it any other way.

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 20:34

Mmmm Indian and pizza sound great!

Yea my kind of people.

We have done a deep clean of downstairs and ive just put the baby to bed so gunna go down and eat food and chill!

Fakingit36 · 31/12/2018 21:00

I went to a fancy cocktail party for NYE 2001 and was sick as a dog with food poisoning. The party was at the other end of the country and I was leaned up against the loo at this person’s house until the morning of the second, I then wobbled to the train to go home about a stone lighter. I have never celebrated NYE again. Put me off it for life- it literally makes me feel sick just thinking of that party. Like many of you above, enjoying being at home.

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 21:03

@fakingit36 that sounds horrendous!

I’ve eaten so much cheese I feel ready for bed and it’s not even close to new year!

Not been a fan of NYE since mid 20s - probably round about the time I stopped enjoying being drunk!
I've no huge objections to it, it's just not a big deal to me. Will probably 'celebrate' it by having a glass of champers on the hottub - and that's it.

It's nice to go out with the kids earlier in the day and have lunch or dinner though, but the glam parties I'm happy to avoid.

cricketmum84 · 31/12/2018 21:32

@mmmgoats OMG that looks amazing 😍😍😍

Whattheduck · 31/12/2018 21:39

My dd is staying at mil's tonight so after I had finished work at 13.00 myself and dh went out for a pub lunch and a few drinks then came home and I had a nap
Dh has popped to see a friend (I could have gone but have been in my pyjama's since 17.00 and didn't fancy it) so I am watching Birdbox whilst enjoying a glass or two of Bailey's and will probably be in bed before midnight

xJessica · 31/12/2018 21:54

I've just had a lovely shower and put my pj's on and going to make a cup of tea before settling down with DH in front of the fire and TV.

Topseyt · 31/12/2018 21:55

Staying in here. I have never been a fan of NYE. Not a party animal at the best of times, so New Year is not my favourite time of the year.

Christmas is fine, but New Year on top is just too much. Even DD1 and DD2 are at home with us. They are 23 and 19.

TornFromTheInside · 31/12/2018 22:12

My daughter's 21 and she's staying in. Says it's too expensive and too troublesome (too many drunks / problems). Quite glad really.

AmmoniteMum · 31/12/2018 22:22

Staying in with some fizz and snacks. Kids are enjoying our mini party at home. Feels much more relaxed this way.

Wishing all mumsnetters a happy 2019.

Banterlope · 31/12/2018 22:25

I have 19 15-year-olds currently swarming all over the house so am keeping a very low profile with my very confused dogs, although I am playing very loud Wu Tang Clan to a) drown out their fucking shrieking and b) I think it makes me sound like a gangsta who nobody should mess with. They are listening to The Smiths and Queen (WTF?) and the dogs don't seem to like hip hop. Or teenagers

mmmgoats · 31/12/2018 22:29

@cricketmum84 it was pretty good!

Er champers in a hot tub sounds bloody lovely @tornfromtheinside
