Hi everyone

I have lurgy and I feel miserable with it. I'm feeling rubbish and drowning in my own snot. Who else is sick? Remedies please! Grin

Poached aww that's cat love! Always remember if you can clean animal vomit (did you?), you're not dead. Yet. Get the cat to keep "checking" on you.

And poached did you catch a train to Manchester. That's very dangerous on many levels. Remember the map "here be dragons", just saying. And you should have said, I'd have sent a palanquin for you.

I had it in early December and I'm still not over it. I've finally had enough of it and am going to the doctors on Friday.

pineapplebryanbrown · 16/01/2019 22:44

goose the doctor will laugh at you and throw a strepsil in your direction. I'm your only hope. What you really need is jelly and someone to do your work for you.

Ha. I went pre septic and was blue lighted to hospital yesterday. After 24 hours of IV antibiotics and fluids I'm starting to feel human again. Hoping I can go home soon as my husband is looking after a poorly toddler and he has the flu as well. It really is the season for it! 😷

CurbsideProphet · 17/01/2019 15:08

I have an odd strain of the lurgy: awful headache / verging on migraine and earache, incredibly tired, bit lightheaded / woozy. Luckily I can work from home, though really I'm just looking at my laptop and yawning.

lubeybooby · 17/01/2019 15:49

FML

day 17, I still have bunginess/mucus and knackeredness and now a feckin kidney infection! feel like death. So much pain

and... and... now DP has the lurgy too. FFS!

I do feel sorry for him but too ill to give him the same care he showed me when I was in the worst of it. Poor sod.

ughhhhhhhhhhh

pineapplebryanbrown · 17/01/2019 16:39

curb hmm, not sure that's our lurgy. Can we have a straw poll please? Curb may need another diagnosis.

pineapplebryanbrown · 17/01/2019 16:45

lubey have you been eating toffees and drinking Baileys? That's likely what's giving you the mucus persistence. To be safe you must switch to clear spirits, i feel vodka is too harsh, gin too unfriendly. Tequila? Also Pontefract cakes should cure the kidney infection, but not Eccles cakes.

Tweek don't go home, there's ill people there. Go on a Club 18-30 holiday instead and take part in a foam party.

I don't feel ill anymore but very tired and annoying mucus cough. I've been trying to soothe it with cherry madeira cake.

thighofrelief101 I even tried to google my symptoms, but "feeling generally crap" doesn't seem to have a specific name. I'm not overly interested in having anything to eat which is quite troubling, especially as we still have Christmas chocolate left Confused

boredandtireds · 17/01/2019 22:23

My lord.

I've been ill now since the start of December. Incredibly light headed and unwell. I honestly thought something majorly serious was wrong until a GP appointment.

Just this horrible virus! Honestly how long?! I thought I was better until the past few days I am back in bed feeling horrific. Back to work tomorrow after time off and I honestly don't know how I'll face it. I've struggled to even make a cup of tea at points today.

boredandtireds · 17/01/2019 22:26

@CurbsideProphet honestly sounds like exactly how I am feeling! How awful is it?!

Ontheboardwalk · 17/01/2019 22:31

I’ve been ill forever, days, months, years, forever

Woke up last night mouth open throat red raw. Anyone tried those mouth closing contraptions? I’m scared I will panic if wearing one

CurbsideProphet · 18/01/2019 07:54

@boredandtireds I'm really sorry you feel the same, but I'm quite relieved it's been confirmed as "just" a virus! At least with a cough / snotty nose you know where you are. I was feeling stressed about why I feel like this, but I feel a bit reassured now Smile

soreear · 18/01/2019 08:38

@CurbsideProphet I guess! I've been taking seasickness tablets for the vertigo/ear issues and it's been helping! The pharmacist suggested them and they've worked pretty good Smile

MarcieBluebell · 18/01/2019 14:38

I'm still ill ffs. Also got the ear lurgy and motion sickness still. Can use phone now though a bit. Sleep is the answer but doesn't help I get woken up all the time.

SpoonBlender · 18/01/2019 14:41

Mine's come back! Waaaah! Bastard useless immune system.

Well, might be another infection, this one's more "ping pong ball in the throat and snot" and last weeks was more "cotton wool brain plus snot".

Either way. Where's my nanomachine army of tiny robots to scour me of viruses?

MarcieBluebell · 18/01/2019 14:43

Mine also came back. I need a nanomachine.

LadyFlumpalot · 18/01/2019 15:17

Yup, fell ill on 27th December. Got better... just about then fell ill again last Thursday. Went to the docs on Wednesday and I have actual pneumonia. Very mild pneumonia but still, I always thought no-one really got it and it was just a thing my mum told me would happen if I went out with wet hair!

pineapplebryanbrown · 18/01/2019 15:32

Getting deeply suspicious here, my Poirot moustache is twirling, are there two separate lurgies?!

OP posts:
WonderTweek · 19/01/2019 08:42

LadyFlumpalot, I have pneumonia too! I thought it was a heavy cold until I ended up in hospital and the doctor said I have pneumonia. I'm up to my eyeballs in antibiotics now. Just waiting for the inevitable thrush. 😅

I should have listened to thighofrelief and gone to a foam party. I went home instead and my poorly 2-year-old is so ridiculously whingey I'm not sure I can handle it right now. He is particularly concerned about bogeys and his dummy being wet, like these are the worst things in the world. 😁

lubeybooby · 19/01/2019 15:58

Something magical has happened

I am better!

all I did differently was eat a creme egg. You heard it here first, folks. Cure is readily available in local shops

MarcieBluebell · 19/01/2019 16:01

Can I ask was it a blood test for pneumonia? Hope the antibiotics kicks in fast.
