Hi everyone

I have lurgy and I feel miserable with it. I'm feeling rubbish and drowning in my own snot. Who else is sick? Remedies please! Grin

Me me!
7 weeks and only just feeling the symptoms are easing.
Started with aches and fever, cough and concrete chest infection and the worst eye infection😷
Then sinus infection with hideous taste/ smell, and pain in lungs/ ribs.
Finally gave in and have antibiotics as the rib pain was stopping me sleeping.

It is indeed, a stepped lurghi. Woe, woe unto us.

Fromage · 08/01/2019 20:26

I've had the dizziness and earache. At the rate I'm scoffing restorative chocolate, I will also soon have a new symptom: kidney failure.

ShadyLady53 · 08/01/2019 20:27

I’m having to avoid sugar because it increases inflammation and supresses the immune system. It sucks but not worth the temporary high if it makes me sicker in the long run.

Fromage · 08/01/2019 20:45

But but but but I can't have sugarless chocolate! Confused

In fairness, the rest of my diet isn't very sugary though. Not much fruit, rarely desserts, unsweetened yogurt, cereal and so on. All very healthy and were has it got me? CLOSE TO DEATH.

Fuck it, now I'm eating sugar cubes.

pineapplebryanbrown · 08/01/2019 22:04

Lubey has the leakage stopped? What about the lunacy sneezing?

YoThePussy · 08/01/2019 22:15

FromageI recommend sugar cubes with fizzy orange dribbled on them. A great favourite of mine when I was a kitten and taken out for ‘tea’ by my Granny.

Have staggered to bed exhausted with the tribulations of ears and eyes. Wishing someone would make me a lightly poached egg with some white bread and butter. Wondering if I am not long for this world.

lightlypoached · 08/01/2019 22:47

@ginandbearit yes the dizziness here too. went back to the office today but came home early (in a cab) as I was too spinny to stay and couldn't trust myself on the tube/train.

fucking bastard viruses.

ginandbearit · 08/01/2019 22:51

lightlypoached yes went to work and ended up sleeping in darkened room for most of day ..luckily staff sympathetic but it has been yuck and I've been walking like a drunken sailor ..hope yours goes soon

Xenadog · 08/01/2019 22:52

God! I’ve had this thing for about 11 days now. It began with aches and temperatures. Aches left but temperature going crazy for 5 days. Chest felt so tight and I had a dry cough for a week. Chest is now “looser” but I’m still coughing and struggling to sleep. My voice has almost vanished too and throat is on off sore.

Whatever this virus is, I wish it would just bugger off.

lubeybooby · 08/01/2019 22:54

Thigh yes all stopped, praise tha LAWD

I no longer pray for the sweet release of a mallet to the head or random chainsaw accident

now I just have a regular cough and bunged sinuses. Still shite, but compared to the last few days... this is actual health. HEALTH

fun discovery: covonia night time gives me very trippy dreams

pineapplebryanbrown · 09/01/2019 01:09

Well I was sobbing all morning at how behind i am with everything. I'm weak as a tiny piece of gossamer on an angels wing. Not really, but i do feel very aggrieved that i haven't got a clone to take care of shit when I'm ill. It's not fair!

Pussy ring the bell and have eggs sent up in the dumbwaiter.

How is everyone doing now?

I am about 90% better, just so zapped and tired now. So frustrating because I keep thinking I can just go about life and then have to sit/lie down. fuxache

iwonderwhen · 10/01/2019 14:06

Day 21 aarrgghhh!!!!

Conseulabananahammock · 10/01/2019 14:09

I had it over xmas and ended up with pneumonia Sad still not 100% now

ShadyLady53 · 10/01/2019 14:10

Tests came back “Normal no action” so looks like a nasty virus. My white cells weren’t even flagged up so I’m asking for a copy because usually I get called about low wbc and low ferritin.

I’ve had the week off work and feel a bit better but just ventured to the supermarket and my right sided jaw gland shot up and started aching and my nose started streaming after 10 mins! And there was an older lady hacking her guts up everywhere in a most unhygienic fashion so I scarpered.

Apparently I look AMAZINGLY healthy. I started feeling better after I took some Solgar Beta Glucans and Elderberry Immune Support and got the “Wow, your colour is amazing comments” after the 3rd dose. They stink of rotten eggs but I think they’re making me better...

Hope we’re all through the worst!

ShadyLady53 · 10/01/2019 14:12

@Conseulabananahammock my sympathies, pneumonia is bloody awful. I got it at Christmas when I was a Fresher and it was March before I made a full recovery. I left it very late before seeking medical help though, hopefully they caught it earlier with you and you’re soon better.

Movingonup41 · 10/01/2019 14:18

I’m on week 5.

Started off with achy back, neck and legs weirdly. Followed by sniffles and cough.

Over Christmas became a chest infection.

First lot of antibiotics didn’t shift it so had to go back for a 2nd set. They finished 10 days ago and I did start to feel better but the Friday just gone didn’t feel good followed by a full on cold again Saturday, Sunday, Monday.

Felt much better Tuesday and yesterday.

But low & behold it’s back again today. I’ve sneezed 10 times in a row a few times and am back to a dripping nose, sore throat and runny eyes again.

Very fed up now!

Kemer2018 · 10/01/2019 14:22

My colleague is on abs for a nasty chest infection. My partner has a horrid head and chest cold.
Looks like I'll be next.
Vicks vaporub
Hot water bottle
Lemsips
Hot sweet toddy
Hope you feel better soon x

SkippedALightFandango · 10/01/2019 14:23

I’m on day 4. Dismayed at all the reports of day 14+. I can’t go to work with this. Even if I was physically able I’m a midwife and can’t risk passing this on to mums and babies —even if it was probably one of them that’s shared it with me—

partypooper40 · 10/01/2019 15:16

Im on day 5-6. its gettin worse.Last night I was awake for 2 hours at 2am with sinus pain that felt like I had been puinched in the face. Asthma bad and getting worse.... fuck my life.

Conseulabananahammock · 10/01/2019 16:07

shadylady53 horrendous isnt it. Unfortunatley seems to be my annual xmas thing. For the past two years ive had it. Takes ages to get over the fatigue and residual cough and general ill feeling

ShadyLady53 · 10/01/2019 16:17

@Conseulabananahammock Have you looked into the vaccine? I’m thinking of putting a bit of money aside throughout the year and getting it in September. It’s free for over 65s but not those with conditions like mine (Neutropenia). You can get it done at a lot of high street places and it’s supposed to protect agains pneumonia for life.

Here’s some Flowers x

ShadyLady53 · 10/01/2019 16:17

Ffs “agains” isn’t even a word autocorrect!!!!!!!

ShadyLady53 · 10/01/2019 16:22

Actually looking at it now it’s only £70 in Boots and Superdrug and I don’t get sick pay through my job so that’s a bargain really if it prevents another case of pneumonia!
