Hi everyone

I have lurgy and I feel miserable with it. I'm feeling rubbish and drowning in my own snot. Who else is sick? Remedies please! Grin

thighofrelief delighted you are better.

I am also sort of on the mend. I have enjoyed my nightly lemon and honey so much I may well continue with it.

The world feels a better place suddenly.

pineapplebryanbrown · 07/01/2019 00:29

Pussy i do still have a tiny cough but i think it's just a PTSD cough from recent lurgification.

pineapplebryanbrown · 07/01/2019 00:32

I don't have honey and lemon. Would a leftover sausage and some mango chunks be the same?

YoThePussy · 07/01/2019 17:18

thighofrelief whack them in a nutribullet and they’ll be good drinking.

Isn’t it a good thng we on this thread are all so stoic compared to the men on the shuffling and voice thread

lightlypoached · 07/01/2019 17:48

Wooo! To everyone who is better and poooo to those who aren’t.

I was finally almost better yesterday (coughed through a yoga class ).
Had it since November 25th. Ffs

One of my colleagues is now off with it and is coughing up blood Shock

Be careful out there people.

Fromage · 07/01/2019 19:02

Hello my fellow disease-ridden lurgers. I'm glad you're feeling better thighofrelief. I've been ill fucking weeks. My favourite bit was the shooting pains up and down my back, and when I coughed up something bright green. Like, 80s neon green. Though that could have been a hallucination.

I have given up all remedies apart from night nurse which knocks me out good and proper - last night, I only coughed myself awake once, yippee! I'm nearly cured!

Anyway, Lemsip and echinacea have done bugger all for me, I'm not worse since they ran out so fuck them.

I've also run out of chocolate, so I might actually die now. Not of the lurgy, but of sadness.

I know I'm late to this thread but it's been uplifting to read all of disgustingness because I now feel less alone, so thank you all for sharing all of your gagworthy symptoms.

pineapplebryanbrown · 07/01/2019 19:12

Fromage is your user name an ode to phlegm? When coughing try my Patented Iron Lung Method it saves lives.

YoThePussy · 07/01/2019 19:14

lightlypoached do you think your colleague might have consumption? What a worry.

Fromage chocolate is vital to recovery. Is there anyone you can beat into submission to go and get you some? I am currently lounging in bed with a fistful of M&S Swiss truffles, they are helping me build my strength up after the travails of recent weeks.

lightlypoached · 07/01/2019 19:22

@YoThePussy he’s been given antibiotics but if sounds grim.

I found that chocolate and wine greatly assisted my recovery.

Fromage · 07/01/2019 19:22

my user name is an ode to randomly trying to find a new user name

I don't have the energy to cough a proper cough, I sound like an engine that won't turn over.

You are right, OTP. I think I will drag myself to the garage at the end of the road for supplies of cut price Quality Street and christmas tree chocolate decorations. I might die in the attempt of course, but what is life without chocolate anyway? Not worth living. And I won't be for much longer without a giant tube of discounted Smarties to tip down my inflammed gullet.

Once more unto the BP dear friends, once more.

YoThePussy · 07/01/2019 20:03

Smarties are very good for colds, they resemble pills so must be good for you.

WestBerlin · 07/01/2019 22:06

I’ve had/got this. Think I’m coming to the end of it now, thank god. It first hit me on the morning of an eight hour drive back from Edinburgh, so that was spectacular.

First time in a week I’ve had the energy to properly bathe, shave, moisturize etc and I feel like a magnificent slippery eel, albeit a slightly snotty one. To be fair my entire aesthetic right now is still a bit post apocalyptic but it’s an improvement.

Ladybirdbookworm · 07/01/2019 22:24

The end is in sight . Is it sad that I find so much comfort knowing that you are all out there snotting and coughing along with me. I've had 4 small size crunchies and a fab ice lolly ....confectionery is the key to recovery Grin

pineapplebryanbrown · 07/01/2019 23:11

I've had so little chocolate since Christmas, apparently I'm "fat" and should aim to be "slim". I've never been good with maths, patterns or sequences hence my previous lack of understanding re chocolate = fat bastard / no chocolate = thin bastard. I thought I was sad due to having to do literally everything always but now I see that is due to my chocolate levels have dipped.

Lady Misery loves company, just ask my mother when you go round for tea.

am hoping my time with the lurgy is also drawing to a close. I posted a few days ago saying I felt better but it was a false dawn.. or rather not quite the sunlit uplands I was expecting. Still have a slight cough and enjoy a honking sniff every now and then but hopefully am almost there. Now to find next health anxiety moment to focus on... yippeee!

pineapplebryanbrown · 08/01/2019 09:05

Myrtle What?! Are you saying this is a staged lurgy? You've given me the vapours young lady!

YoThePussy · 08/01/2019 10:36

I have moved on to having eye and ear infections now. Eyes were welded shut with conjunctivitis crusts this morning. Ears appear to have a couple of oceans roaring inside them. Doing everything by touch today and am carrying an improvised ear trumpet. Will this hell ever end?

iwonderwhen · 08/01/2019 11:17

I've had a hacking cough - cold, and I've been feeling like death warmed up since before Xmas. I sound like a foghorn, I got a headache and it's worse if I bend down and my glands are aching and swollen in my neck.

Whenever I think it's on it's way out it comes back again in a slightly different form.

When does it go, bugger off, I'm fed up with it

ShadyLady53 · 08/01/2019 12:05

Checking in! Had loads of bloods done yesterday so it’s just a case of waiting for the results now. Yesterday energy was good but lymph nodes were swollen ALL OVER my body and I kept breaking out in rashes. Today pain is less but energy is nonexistent. Sinuses have cleared up and just have a little cough now.

@Thigh missed your post but yes Dr took it very seriously, hence the blood tests. Suspecting glandular fever so prescribing antibiotics would be a disaster! (Google what happens when you give amoxicillin or penicillin to someone with Epstein Barr 😱).

Fromage · 08/01/2019 13:10

I've eaten a large chocolate Aero and a Snickers since last. I still feel shite. I shouldda got the Smarties.

I'm going to haul my sorry carcass to the supermarket today, and I will empty the chocolate aisle into two trollies and get stuck in, beginning at about 7pm, and ending when I explode or am cured, whichever is sooner (at this stage, I don't even care)

ginandbearit · 08/01/2019 13:34

Is there a dizzyness type bug around ? Came on last night no other symptoms just general wooziness and unsteady on my feet ...convinced myself its dengue fever

DarlingNikita · 08/01/2019 13:46

gin, yes, my household have all had the dizziness thing. For us it was dizziness combined with a head cold and waves of nausea. I had a tender sore stomach/guts for several days, too. Horrible. I don't think it was dengue fever though Grin

lubeybooby · 08/01/2019 14:57

yep dizzyness was part of my lurgy

getting there, here. A cough and bunged up still, concrete sinuses, ears threatening to block up any second but I can at least sleep now.

Have lost 10lbs since 2nd Jan but do NOT recommend the lurgy diet (fuck all because you can't and don't care anyway)

MarcieBluebell · 08/01/2019 17:59

Yes I have dizziness. It's horrible. Ears are crackling and eyes are watering constantly.
