Hi everyone

I have lurgy and I feel miserable with it. I'm feeling rubbish and drowning in my own snot. Who else is sick? Remedies please!

I am on day 7 and it sucks!!! My head! Fuck sake, I feel like my eyeballs are pulsating out my head and my brains are mixing with the gallons of snot being produced faster than I can clear it.

I ache, feel sick, cough like a bastard and have pissed myself at least a dozen times today. Have I really another 2 weeks of this?!?!

Shady I've ordered Solgar Beta Glucans and Elderberry after reading your post. I want people to stop telling me how exhausted i look. Had a nap this afternoon and I've almost caught up work from being ill with no brain. I don't know any more whether I'm a bit ill still or just wiped out. I'm so tired! Is this the after effects of the lurgy or just deaths sweet embrace?

witch it's 2.5 weeks actively ill then another 02 weeks of feeling shit and weeping with tiredness. Buckle up and wear a nappy ffs! Lubey had to lie in the bath due to snot and piss.

Thigh OMG whatever you do don’t take it before bed - had loads of energy until 3am last night. Thought I was going stir crazy!

I think I might have turned a corner in this horrible lurgy. It Day 22 and I've so far not been maniacally coughing like a foghorn or sneezing and dripping endlessly. There's hope ....
What's helped me? Inhaling hot steaming water with menthol, home made chicken soup. Paracetamol ibuprofen strepsils sitting like a zombie in the warm

I’m on day 254217 (probably actually only day 6).
I’ve got to be better by next week or I’ll need a doctors note for work. I’m a nurse and really can’t risk passing it on (plus it would involve getting dressed).

Oh sweet Jesus, at least another 3 weeks.
I'm currently sitting in pyjamas, the biggest tena lady on my fanjo drowning in snot filled tissues. My DH keeps throwing me snacks and the kids don't even look anymore. Ah well, the upside of coughing up a lung while smelling of piss and becoming a snot factory is no one comes near me and I can get my Agatha Christie fix on the telly box in peace. Every cloud and all that....

Although I swear if j keep sneezing all my insides are going to come flying out my nose, what is with the sneezing?!?!?! For the love of all things chocolate

I'm at the 6 1/2 week point. Hacking cough, coughing up pints of vile mucus and generally feeling shite with no appetite. Off work today as DS2 is off school with lesser lurgy so have caved and called doctor. Waiting for triage call but not holding my breath. 6 1/2 fecking weeks...

I never ever catch anything. Haven't had a cold for at least 10 years - probably longer, but this bug has floored me. Started with a throat full of razor blades, now moved on to deaf in left ear, sinus pains in right cheek and a constant cough. Am utterly exhausted. DH had to have antibiotics for chest infection. Hope I'm not headng the same way.

As a self appointed non medically trained internet nurse i award you all 2 months off from all duties. A sympathetic nurse and a housekeeper / nanny will be allocated and you will receive danger money on top of regular income. The costs of this will be met not by bitter tax payers but by Sweet Baby Jesus in his manger.

I slept for 3 hours and feel slightly better for it. I might even attempt a bath and get DH to help me change the bedding later. Our room is grim. Health hazard grim.

Could I feel more miserable? My nose is red and sore, my throat feels like I’ve swallowed razor blades and now the coughing and sneezing has thrown something out in my back. not only do i have to hold the top of my head on when I cough i have to try and support my back as well 😫😫

2 weeks now for me and I'd say I'm 95% recovered. I had no sneezing, runny nose or snot, just aches all over, a fever for days and eventually a cough which is still lingering. Appetite mostly recovered now and energy almost at normal levels (which aren't particularly high tbh). Wishing you all a snot-free future!

how's everyone doing? I was getting better (dizziness gone, much less snot, intermittent coughing) but now the sore throat and chest is back. also now have a sore mouth.

I am better but still easily tired and trying not to nap every time I sit down. I've caught up with work but the house exploded while i was ill so still catching up on that shizz.

Does anyone still need my speciality internet nursing?

Fecking thing started with what I duped into thinking was 'just a normal cold' before it revealed its true murderous intentions. Just as the sneezing and runny nose went, I felt a bit better but now I've started coughing and sneezing again.

Although it isn't me, it's everyone else in the house!
I had a cold before Xmas, awful weekend, 3days off work and 2at working feeling crappy and all was well. Now both dcs are running fevers and coughing incessantly, only on day 4. DH who is never ill is on day 6, we think he's perforated his ear drum, has a razor blade throat, chest pains, hacking cough and it doesn't sound like it's going anywhere. And he's not very good at being ill!
I so hope they all feel better soon and don't pass on to me.

Whaaaattt? Is this a long 'un? 😲 I'm convinced I have the flu as I woke up with a temp of 38C and no voice yesterday, and all I can do now is shiver and breathe heavily. I have what we call "the thumb", i.e. a severe headache that feels like your head is being pressed down by a giant thumb, as well as the worst razorblade throat I've had in years. To make matters worse, my two-year-old has a high fever as well and my husband's away in business. 😢 My son and I slept for two hours earlier in his den on the floor and I felt a bit pathetic, but I welcomed the sleep!

So what is this lurgy then? Is it the flu? Or just a ridiculous cold? Hope everyone gets better soon!

I have had a mild cold that has lasted a while but nothing too bad.

DH has the flu though. I hope I don't catch it. I wish I had got round to having the bloody flu jab. I have never seen him this ill before (well except for the time he had pancreatitis).
