Hi everyone

I have lurgy and I feel miserable with it. I'm feeling rubbish and drowning in my own snot. Who else is sick? Remedies please! Grin

Me too. I’ve been feeling dreadful all week. I was hoping I’d be starting to feel a bit better now but I’m getting worse. My voice was almost non existent earlier this morning.

Anothermothersusername · 28/12/2018 09:01

Oh no Lightly I just saw your post. 6-10 weeks?! Sad

retainertrainer · 28/12/2018 09:02

I’m out the other side of this but 3 weeks later and I’m still waking up with muck on my chest,it’s grim. You have my sympathies.

pineapplebryanbrown · 28/12/2018 09:02

poached I don' drink anymore but I remember staying mildly pissed when ill was fairly satisfying. The free running snot may be a sign that the crap is leaving your body.

I think MN should employ a Dr to have a section that everyone can bring their woes to. They could have a cut and paste template that said "there, there, you're doing your best, just have a lie down".

Me! I've been lounging on the sofa. I've been getting plenty of rest, no alcohol and lots of comfort food. Also keep topped up with meds. My nose is definitely drying up and am planning a shopping trip later to am obviously on the mend.

KitschBitch · 28/12/2018 09:06

Flowers for you all. Having the best, busiest Christmas eve, with lots of parties and fun, I lasted 30mins at a party on Boxing Day due to just feeling crap. Sad Achy all over, exhausted and sore throat, feels like the calm before the storm of a horrid cold. More worried about spreading germs though. Is it true that once a cold is out that it is less catching?

headinhands · 28/12/2018 09:07

You're right to not visit the parents. Sad but necessary.

KnightlyMyMan · 28/12/2018 09:08

I’ve got got it currently but MIL had it just before Christmas, a relative turned up to Christmas Day with it 😡 and my mother turned up to Boxing Day with it!

Both very obviously unwell

So DP and I are just waiting!

I was unwell for about a month end nov/ early dec so I’m praying that I’ve already had this flu!

KnightlyMyMan · 28/12/2018 09:08

*ive not got it currently

Polkapjs · 28/12/2018 09:08

Mai I recommend Actifed for drying the nose a bit and potentially making you sleepy? Get well very soon one and all

Girlicorne · 28/12/2018 09:11

Day 12 here, cough and cold. Beechams tablets got me through to the end of term but still feeling shocking now. Hope I m better for NYE!!

pineapplebryanbrown · 28/12/2018 09:12

headinhands but for how long? It sounds like this goes on for a long time and I don't know when it's infectious and when just after effects. I'm still sneezing so think that's obvious to stay away but imagine a lingering cough won't mean anything in due course.

If they get this they'll both be back in hospital I think.

Oh well, I'm so bored that I may as well finish off my tax return.

Oh me too!

Cold, cough and upset tummy Sad plus the cough is undoing my last 14 weeks of pelvic floor exercises Xmas Blush

My baby slept through from 10-6.30 and I was awake all night coughing so couldn’t even appreciate it!

You’re all heroes and deserve a day of rest and Christmas cheese/chocolate etc. Also lots of fluids and a hot bath.

TheLastNigel · 28/12/2018 09:15

Me. Two DD's. Im meant to be at work today and I've just had to call in sick which hasn't gone down well at all Sad

Norma27 · 28/12/2018 09:18

I felt awful Boxing Day and yesterday. Couldn’t move out of bed yesterday. Today I’ve been throwing up.
My eldest is ill in bed today.
Is mums birthday today and decided too risky to see her. Feel terrible as her husband died suddenly this month but I can’t risk passing it on to her.

TheLastNigel · 28/12/2018 09:18

Charmingly my exh had it and as he was staying with us over Christmas I Beckie him to be the origin in our house. He really is the gift that keeps giving 🙄

DSHathawayGivesMeFannyGallops · 28/12/2018 09:23

Thigh my immune system possibly is telling me that my last job was better for it, although my feet seem much happier now! I think I caught this lurgy off my flatmate so I think it's more a sign that I am right in wanting to move out and live alone!

Broncho Stop is a cough medicine. That plus green tea with honey seems to loosen my throat up. Am fine now except the cough won't go. Wake up hoarse with a very dry Sahara throat and just cough on & off all day with croaky voice. There seems to be a bit of phlegm in my chest/throat that just hasn't shifted yet.

recklessruby · 28/12/2018 09:29

Woke up with it on the 16th. Snotty cold headache and nausea. Struggled through last week of term but had to take a day off. Cough from hell.
Was just about better by Xmas but thank God for adult dcs and internet shopping.
The worst thing is the vom cough and the tiredness.
Lots of honey and lemon and alcohol (not Bailey's sadly, the cream makes it worse).
Ginger tea.
I m off till 7th Jan anyway.
Only good thing is I have a really poor appetite so won't start the new term 5 pounds overweight like normal Grin.
Get well soon everyone xx

pineapplebryanbrown · 28/12/2018 09:29

I don't know why people think it's ok to visit people with streaming colds. I give people the option, i was meant to meet a friend for coffee on 27th but she has spent a long time getting her strength back after an immune system problem. I gave her the option and she said no. Can you Imagine just barrelling up and putting someone back in hospital, it's shit behaviour. I went to my GP once and she had a streaming, spluttering cold - just why.

Hmm I'm in favour of HazMat suits for "the infected" not for me of course. I'm a bit bad tempered too

I've been ill for two weeks!! Worst of it has been my cough but today is the first day (touch wood) I've woke up and not coughed!

ShitOnItt · 28/12/2018 09:39

Me! Mines on the way out now but DP has just got it as well Xmas Envy

Longdistance · 28/12/2018 09:41

Me 🙋🏼‍♀️
Snotty nose, phlegm on chest, coughing loads, and yesterday and today aching joints and sweating profusely.
Lovely dh has taken dds to the cinema as a treat and leaving me to fester in bed.

TabbyMumz · 28/12/2018 09:46

I'm on day 8. Still coughing and sputtering. Been on my chest for about 4 days now.

carrie74 · 28/12/2018 09:49

Checking in. Woke up Boxing Day with a slightly dry throat, nothing to be concerned about. By lunchtime, I was starting to feel grotty. Went for a short countryside stroll, and just started crying in the middle of it. Blush

Came home, went to bed, feverish and coughing and exhausted.

We were due to visit ILs on 27th, but woke up still feverish, so DH and DC have gone without me. I spent the whole of yesterday in bed, but fever broke yesterday afternoon, and th and snot commenced. Still in bed, coughing and streaming, and drifting in and out of sleep. Hoping worst is over...
