Absolutely Raging at DSis

DSis and her DH were at a wedding yesterday, we had their DD1 and DS3 overnight. We've got a panto today at 1:30 for me, DH and our 2 kids.

DSis knows of our plans and has just text to say that both her and DH had too much to drink last night and can't drive until at least mid afternoon. They're 90 mins away so that's today's plans fucked up. Obvs not an AIBU but I am incandescent with rage at the moment.

AAAARGH! Angry

She's been told this is completly unacceptable had ruined our plans this afternoon and I will under no circumstances allow myself to be taken advantage like this again.

She's also been told that unless they were strapped down and had booze poured down their necks with a funnel this is their fault and theirs only. To say its not my fault I got drunk is the kind of crap you get off a 17 year old.

I’d go going fucking mental. I would insist that they get a taxi to the nearest train station and get their arses over to you immediately.

Selfish twats, the pair of them. Not their fault, my arse. Angry

Dogsmellssobadbob · 23/12/2018 11:05

Don’t martyr yourself over this and miss out on the planned day with your kids.
You absolutely have to go to the pants

Tell your sis to get a cab to you right now. No discussion. End of.

AWishForWingsThatWork · 23/12/2018 11:05

Tell them to get a fucking taxi or have a friend drive them to your house and they can watch their children there. Selfish twits.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 23/12/2018 11:06

Is the panto running after Christmas? If it is, I'd tell DSis that due to them being unable to pick up their kids they have to reimburse you for them causing you to miss the panto today. Then you can find new tickets for later on.

Doesn't make what they did any easier to sort out but it can mean that you get to see the panto at some point over the festive period.

Eliza9917 · 23/12/2018 11:06

Can you get 2 extra tickets? Make them bank transfer you the money and take them with you.

Santaisonthesherry · 23/12/2018 11:06

Most taxi firms have booster seats if requested. Would be sending them in one with sil paying at their end most definitely.

eddielizzard · 23/12/2018 11:07

Wow how selfish!

Gazelda · 23/12/2018 11:08

That wins the whole of 2018's CF award.
She doesn't even sound terribly sorry.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 23/12/2018 11:09

Only seeing the updated posts after submitting my one.
Very selfish behaviour from your DSis

Eliza9917 · 23/12/2018 11:10

How old are the children? I'd be very tempted to put them in a cab.

TheHobbitMum · 23/12/2018 11:14

Your sister is a dick! I'd be utterly furious Angry They should've got a taxi to you!

Owletty · 23/12/2018 11:15

I'd be tempted to text your sister and tell her you're putting the kids in a cab. The estimated fare will be £x payable at the other end.

YoungLennyGodber · 23/12/2018 11:16

Your DSis needs to get into a taxi and collect her kids, now. Totally unacceptable behaviour. Sorry OP. I really hope you don’t miss the panto.

Iloveacurry · 23/12/2018 11:16

Very selfish behaviour. No more babysitting or favours for them.

BreakfastAtSquiffanys · 23/12/2018 11:19

I'm most amused at the frequent autocorrecting of panto to pants!

INeedNewShoes · 23/12/2018 11:19

I would expect them to give you the money to cover all 4 panto tickets so that you and your family can go to another show (maybe a different one) together.

This is appalling behaviour. I just don't know anyone who would do this.

WhendoIgetadayoff · 23/12/2018 11:19

Children under 16 can’t get in a taxi unaccompanied. And who would put a one year old and theee year old in a taxi for a 90 min journey?

I’m so sorry you’re missing panto with your kids. That’s totally rotten and you did a lovely thing looking after very young children. I hope sis is deeply sorry and makes it up to you.

Longdistance · 23/12/2018 11:20

Would the younger one like to go to the panto?
It’s not their fault their parents are a pair of dicks!

CaptainsYuleLog · 23/12/2018 11:21

Children under 16 can’t get in a taxi unaccompanied. And who would put a one year old and theee year old in a taxi for a 90 min journey?

Of course they can. It happens very frequently for school runs and all sorts of other reasons. Whoever told you that lied.

Longdistance · 23/12/2018 11:21

Sorry the 3 year old to panto, not the baby.

diddl · 23/12/2018 11:22

You know your sister-was this always a possibility?

You should have told the though that you were leaving at 1pm (or whatever) & the kids would be on the doorstep waiting.

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 23/12/2018 11:23

Dsis is a selfish cow, she wasnt forced to get steaming. No more babysitting for her after this!

Ethel36 · 23/12/2018 11:24

Ring up the theatre and explain there has been an emergency. Ask if it's possible to swap to another date after Christmas.

Muddlingalongalone · 23/12/2018 11:25

Can you get 2 more tickets? At 8 & 11 they could sit alone imo as long as you check on them in the interval.
