I've been told that is utterly ridiculous to spend that amount of money for that but I still love the jumper!

Do you work for Anthropologie, OP? Their hits on that jumper will go through the roof.

I quite like it; I certainly don’t think it’s just a Christmas jumper.

BlancheM · 21/12/2018 20:14

Yes to spending your money how you wish.
No to that flimsy shapeless cheap as fook looking christmas jumper misnomer of a sweater.

TigerTooth · 21/12/2018 20:18

If it's not an Xmas only sweater then£118 is fine.
That's what I would spend on jumper for Husband, mum, adult kids. It all depends what you earn. Silly post really but no, £118 is fine, I usually pay about £150-£180 for a nice cashmere for mum.

Pinklady1982 · 21/12/2018 20:37

Lucky you having that much to spend on just a jumper.... I probably only spend that much a year on stuff for myself, that’s if I’m lucky to have enough money for it! Maybe that’s why your friend is a bit sour about it!?

buddhasbelly · 21/12/2018 20:41

I'm loving that there's 9 pages of posters saying "this one OP?" Grin

StellaRockafella · 21/12/2018 20:45

The striped one is hideous, but at least it's mostly a natural fibre.
The sequin one is acrylic and polyester. ACRYLIC and POLYESTER for £118. They're taking the piss.

hibs1875 · 21/12/2018 20:55

£59 on ebay

Mumziwumzi · 21/12/2018 21:05

What’s it made of? For that price, I’d expect cashmere or merino. It’s overpriced if it’s synthetic.

neveradullmoment99 · 21/12/2018 21:07

Anthropologie Moth Festive Striped Christmas Jumper.
mmm..moth festive??? Not sure about that one!

neveradullmoment99 · 21/12/2018 21:08

On ebay that is...

Mamameena · 21/12/2018 21:13

Can you afford it? Does it make you smile? Then go for it

Teacher22 · 21/12/2018 21:14

You will, only wear it for a day, yes?

Sniv · 21/12/2018 21:16

There's some bold new looks in Anthropologie's knitwear section, that's for sure. Check out this saucy little number, a fresh new spin on the 'cold shoulder' trend: 'cold armpits'.

Hmmmbiscuits · 21/12/2018 21:19

Ermmm, that jumper a)isn't festive and b) doesn't look well made. It looks like something you would find in an attic during an old lady's house clearance.

By all means spend £118 quid on a bit of clothing if you want to, but definitely not on that!

TheVanguardSix · 21/12/2018 21:21

I would pay that for a Celtic & Co. jumper all day long.

I like the one you've bought, OP. It's not worth £118 but then again, it is alpaca. But for that price, you could have gotten a better quality knit.

MissRhubarb · 21/12/2018 21:39

I really like it and I've seen a lot of folk in rainbow-type jumpers lately looking fab in them. Unfortunately if I try on anything colourful for some reason I look like an overgrown toddler ("you look like you're a kids TV presenter mum" said 13 yr old DD), but that is just me. It's not a Christmas jumper in the way I was thinking you meant. If you know the recipient's taste quite well then lovely to get them something like that. I hope they love it.... or the sequin one if you exchange it. Happy Christmas OP Xmas Smile

delboysskinandblister · 21/12/2018 21:53

Just come back from Sainsbury's TU clothing. They are selling a peach jumper same as your sequin one - now at the further reduced price of £6.

It's one day OP. Save the £118 and put it toward a New Year break away from this crazy bonkersville of Christmas jumpers.

If it was a really stunning jumper then yes ok £118. But i just can't see it in the one you have picked.

Sorry, yabu.

FuzzyShadowChatter · 21/12/2018 22:21

That looks like the jumper my lovely MIL made my youngest when she asked him what his favourite colour was for a new jumper and he asked for 'all the colours'. Big horizontal stripes of colours.

I wouldn't buy it or really wear it, but if they like that sort of thing and you can afford it, I can't see that you're unreasonable.

MelanieCheeks · 21/12/2018 22:26

You at Sainsbury’s also has this for 20

And who paid for that research? Primark I'm guessing, whose publicity dept will have shared the story with the press. I bet there's not a peer reviewed paper behind that research but there will be an academic department with a new bit of kit no doubt.

Cecilia2016 · 21/12/2018 22:53

It is your money and buy what you like but I wouldn’t spend £118 on a Christmas jumper

Doesntlooklikeanythingtome · 21/12/2018 23:09

Hideous jumper, if it’s the one on the link. OMG not going to be worn often as it’s too out there, what a waste of money

paddlingwhenIshouldbeworking · 21/12/2018 23:11

I like the stripey one, Knitwear is expensive but makes me cross as paying more doesn't seem to make them last any longer.

peachgreen · 21/12/2018 23:15

The stripey one looks like something a Playdays presenter would have worn in the early 80s. The sequin one is quite nice.

Doesntlooklikeanythingtome · 21/12/2018 23:16

Okay it’s from Anthropologie and is nice. However though, who spends £118 pounds on a present. It’s too much and why? Why do your need to buy this and spend that much ?
