I've been told that is utterly ridiculous to spend that amount of money for that but I still love the jumper!

I like the colourful one it's well nice yes I would pay that much for it lol 😂 I'm terrible with clothes

morningconstitutional2017 · 22/12/2018 12:47

It is OTT but if you can afford it and it makes you happy, etc.

However, be aware that the pricier the jumper the more likely it is that it will be attacked by moths who will love it too. How heartbroken will you be? Very expensive items tend to be made from luxurious materials which sadly don't last without a great deal of care. Could you get a similar style in a more economical yarn?

theonlywayisbristol · 22/12/2018 12:58

It’s actually on eBay for half the price. It’s nice! <a class="break-all" href="https://m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Anthropologie-Moth-Festive-Striped-Christmas-Jumper-Size-M-with-Tags/173673637251?ul_ref=rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&toolid=10040&campid=5338441847&customid=CjwKCAiA3vfgBRB9EiwAkfpd3HsMpSmFC88FmQp4J3KYwGWKMTcUsLyeXJOHhvh0gBZC5wT5jA9sgRoCnvEQAvD_BwE&lgeo=0&vectorid=229508&item=173673637251&srcrot=710-53481-19255-0&rvr_id=1792117704571&rvr_ts=d5faf1a81670a16d8eb0caebffdc9a62&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true&pageci=8f97be06-bb58-459b-a9fe-cad3ddcff44d" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">m.ebay.co.uk/itm/Anthropologie-Moth-Festive-Striped-Christmas-Jumper-Size-M-with-Tags/173673637251?ul_ref=rover.ebay.com/rover/1/710-53481-19255-0/1?ff3=2&toolid=10040&campid=5338441847&customid=CjwKCAiA3vfgBRB9EiwAkfpd3HsMpSmFC88FmQp4J3KYwGWKMTcUsLyeXJOHhvh0gBZC5wT5jA9sgRoCnvEQAvD_BwE&lgeo=0&vectorid=229508&item=173673637251&srcrot=710-53481-19255-0&rvr_id=1792117704571&rvr_ts=d5faf1a81670a16d8eb0caebffdc9a62&_mwBanner=1&_rdt=1&ul_noapp=true&pageci=8f97be06-bb58-459b-a9fe-cad3ddcff44d

twattymctwatterson · 22/12/2018 13:01

No 14 year old will like either of these jumpers. Anthropologie is not a brand aimed at teenagers. Trust me on this she'll think it's hideous (it is). You might like it but she would appreciate Top Shop far more

Touchmybum · 22/12/2018 13:05

Well I think it's lovely and could see my gorgeous 19 year old rocking it. It's probably a bit pricey for a 14 year old tbh but it's your money! You could be creating a 'monster' though :)

dontgobaconmyheart · 22/12/2018 13:08

So odd when people get worked up about other people spending money. If that's affordable to you OP, it's really a non issue- as if anyone here has never 'overpaid' on any item, what something is 'worth' is relative, I'm sure all of the houses on mumsnet are full of items of clothing and furniture that have a very significant markup on their cost price, as pretty much all imported shop bought goods do. Cant really see the difference stupidity wise tbh. Things are worth what people are willing to pay for them and you cannot be unreasonable to spend your own money on anything you like, surely.

It doesn't seem like you were actually after opinions on the jumper but I would worry a 14 year old wouldn't really appreciate it as 118 quite worth, if at all and would realistically much rather have other goods to that value if that's what you're wanting to spend. And you could get a lot for that money! Dry clean only is a massive drag for anyone let alone teenagers and i don't see there being masses in anthro a 14 year old would want to exchange it for if she returned it.

Sweetpea55 · 22/12/2018 13:08

Bet its itchy wool

ginghamstarfish · 22/12/2018 13:17

Up to you what you do with your money, but I wouldn't thank you for that as a gift! Dry clean only, and may be lovely to your taste but not to others.

Twinkle7 · 22/12/2018 13:19

Il tell you what is ridiculous,!! This thread is now on 11 pages over a jumper!! No one cares!! Buy it, dont buy it. Do what you want to do!!

Didyeeaye · 22/12/2018 13:23

... did yee aye? 😏

HairyToity · 22/12/2018 13:28

I love the stripey jumper. If I could afford it, I'd buy it.

Dotty1970 · 22/12/2018 13:44

Just have to say it's completely vile 🤮and doesn't 'look £118'.
I've seen far better in primark....

Kikipost · 22/12/2018 13:48

Do you not see the contradiction in your post?

Twinkle7 · 22/12/2018 17:39

Kikipost, I'm not sure any one cares!! Least of all me

pinkstripeycat · 22/12/2018 18:13

The material looks like it would stretch badly and not wash particularly well and probably end up looking like a bit of rag. This is from someone who has no money so spends a loooong time looking for something that will last and doesn’t cost much

Motoko · 22/12/2018 19:35

It won't wash at all, it's dry clean only!

Touchmybum · 22/12/2018 20:16

I think Primark is vile, except possibly their pyjamas.

I made the mistake of showing this jumper to my DD (19), who dresses beautifully and studies fashion design in uni... she is now feeling hard done by because she loves this jumper!! :) Knew it!! :)

So, Crazy, if your goddaughter doesn't like it, I know someone who would be happy to give it a good home!!

Crazyaboutdots · 22/12/2018 21:55

Thank youuuuu!! Love your comment.
I think I found my people Wink
Merry Christmas to your stylish daughter Xmas Smile

AwakeNow · 22/12/2018 22:27

I like the striped one. The colours would be flattering on a lot of skin tones. My neice would look stunning in it (pale and blond but often has pink or blue hair)
However her clothes are usually thrown on the floor in a jumble, plus she would not bother to have it cleaned at a dry cleaner.

Howtedious · 22/12/2018 23:30

Nooo don't bring it back. The stripy alpaca is gorgeous - especially for someone young(ish)!!

Howtedious · 22/12/2018 23:44

I've just seen that it's for a 14 year. I teach teenagers - they would love something like that jumper and so on trend. Your god-daughter is very lucky. What a great present. I think the sequin one is too old for that age group btw.

delboysskinandblister · 23/12/2018 03:27

Most 14 year olds would just love the £118. Xmas Smile

CountFosco · 23/12/2018 05:31

You should probably have posted on S&B and got more helpful responses and cut out the 'why don't you go to Primark' comments.

wonderstuff · 23/12/2018 09:18

The stripped jumper is beautiful and in alpaca it will be super soft and warm, definitely worth £118. A lovely present. The sparkle one is also really nice but won’t be as soft and warm.

wonderstuff · 23/12/2018 09:24

My sil buys my daughter designer clothes we can’t afford sometimes, it’s a lovely treat for her, she very much appreciates it. I’m sure your god daughter will be made up, lovely generous gift, not unreasonable, spend your money on what you want x
