I've been told that is utterly ridiculous to spend that amount of money for that but I still love the jumper!

Selling 118 quid jumpers and they still can't afford a decent proofreader for their descriptions Confused

It doesn't look worth that money.

SoyDora · 19/12/2018 07:28

It doesn’t look particularly festive so could be worn all year round. If you want to buy someone a £118 jumper for christmas then that’s entirely your choice.
It looks cheap though.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 19/12/2018 07:33

Is it a gift for your Norland nanny, OP?

newplacenofriends · 19/12/2018 07:44

I think you shouldn't buy people presents that have maintainence costs unless you are willling to pay for it. So since the stripey one is dry clean only you shouldn't give it unless you are willing to pay everytime it needs dry cleaning.

RedSkyLastNight · 19/12/2018 07:46

Oh dear - I've had a flash back to the Christmas when I was 14. My parents bought me an expensive jumper as a Christmas present. As in, it was my only present because it was so expensive.

I didn't like the jumper and it never really fit properly, but as I'd reached my adult height by that age I had to keep wearing it for years to "show my appreciation.

I'm now in my 40s. Still hate that jumper.

Chewbecca · 19/12/2018 07:47

YANBU to spend £118 on a jumper.
YABU to describe this jumper as a Christmas jumper when it has no Christmassy features.

WomanWithAltitude · 19/12/2018 07:57

£118 is a lot, but for a a really good jumper they could wear year round might be ok. That anthropologie one isn't a 'christmas' jumper.

I wouldn't buy anyone handwash only or dry clean only clothes though. They're a pain in the arse.

Musti · 19/12/2018 08:05

I like it but it's not a Christmas jumper. Much more of a spring jumper imo.

Mummadeeze · 19/12/2018 08:05

I really like the striped one and would be pleased with it as a present - although I don’t have the money for dry cleaning so hopefully the receiver does. Agree it isn’t a Christmas jumper however.

borntobequiet · 19/12/2018 08:06

My daughter had a jumper like that in about 1988 - was 5 or 6 at the time. It was Ladybird from Woolworths, I can’t remember how much it cost, but not a lot as I was quite poor then. She was very sad when she grew out of it.

SavageBeauty73 · 19/12/2018 08:07

Both are horrible. Look at Hush.

Would the gift receiver get much use out of it? I like it, but I'd hardly wear it (business clothes at work, clothes for mucking in at the weekend) so I'd feel guilty receiving it.

whatswithtodaytoday · 19/12/2018 08:23

I love the look of Anthropologie clothes (although not so much these jumpers) but am often disappointed by the quality when I'm in store. They're ludicrously expensive for what they are. You get the odd really nice piece, but a lot of tat.

Neither jumper looks worth anywhere near £100+.

Summerisdone · 19/12/2018 08:23

I've just googled the jumper and honestly I think YABU to have bought it as a gift and not keep it for yourself ... it's beautiful😍 and if I could afford that kind of money then I wouldn't think twice about buying it

AromaticSpices · 19/12/2018 08:24

Assuming it's your money, waste it however you like. No one else's business

deckthehallsred · 19/12/2018 08:25

I like it and I know it’s a present so it’s not the point but I’d rather get it discounted in the sales and if someone wanted to spend £118 on me put it towards cashmere and something more timeless.

RandomlyChosenName · 19/12/2018 08:25

Slightly irrelevant but I don’t understand why female models Have to have their mouths hanging open all the time. Hate it!

PumpkinKitty82 · 19/12/2018 08:26

It’s a nice jumper , not very Christmassy in my opinion so could wear it lots but it’s a helluva lot of money for it

Applepudding2018 · 19/12/2018 08:26

It's not a Christmas jumper as such so that's not an issue.

Depends on whether you and the recipient normally spend this amount on each other and whether you know it's to her taste.

If that's the case then YANBU.

If it's for me I'd rather have the money!!!

RiddleyW · 19/12/2018 08:38

This is advertising isn't it?

Anyway nice jumper and not outrageously expensive really.

ApolloandDaphne · 19/12/2018 08:45

My DD2 (who is 21) would LOVE that jumper. She would wear it and wear it. She only washes her jumpers when she is home from uni so twice yearly dry cleaning would be fine.

PlumbingQuandry · 19/12/2018 08:46

this one?

Aibu... for buying a £118 Christmas jumper for a present?
diddl · 19/12/2018 08:47

They both look cheap quality & the sequin one very old fashioned.

PlumbingQuandry · 19/12/2018 08:48

It'll be murder to wash & stay nice. I buy Anthro in the sales
