I've been told that is utterly ridiculous to spend that amount of money for that but I still love the jumper!

Both hugely overpriced! The wording for the original one clearly comes from somewhere abroad, probably Asia, as it's badly translated into English. The sequin one isn't even wool - how can they charge that much? As PPs have said, I'm not sure I would even want to shop with that company (which I'd never heard of before). Neither jumper is really to my taste but that's a separate issue........

Theyprobablywill · 19/12/2018 01:32

A dry clean only jumper? That's a big 'fuck no!' from me.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 19/12/2018 01:36

I really like the stripey jumper. It's exactly what I want - but it's pricey.

MyShinyWhiteTeeth · 19/12/2018 01:37

Can anyone find a cheaper version?

lostinjapan · 19/12/2018 01:38

I wouldn't buy it myself because those rainbow striped jumpers are everywhere at the moment (plus I'd never pay that much for a jumper and the neckline wouldn't suit me anyway).

But it's a nice jumper and it doesn't look at all Christmassy, so can be worn all year round. So if you can afford it, then why not?

WendyWoofer · 19/12/2018 01:42

I quite like the stripey jumper. Doesn't look good quality for the price though. It looks like one of those jumpers that will stretch lots when it's washed.

I don't like the sequined jumper at all - sorry

Starbitcrazy · 19/12/2018 01:49

Cute jumper, but it is far too expensive. Who is it for? And is the alpaca wool not itchy?

MutedUser · 19/12/2018 01:49

YANBU better to spend £118 on one quality item than to spend £118 on Poundland tat that will fill up landfills

StoppinBy · 19/12/2018 02:02

It's your money and your choice, some people spend that amount of money on a haircut and think it's reasonable, why can't you spoil yourself with something you really want if you can afford it.

Rebecca274 · 19/12/2018 02:05

YES QUEEN! PLEASE BUY THAT IT IS 100% WORTH IT!!!!

halfwitpicker · 19/12/2018 02:07

It's not Christmassy

What were those candy bars called in the 80's? A long thin piece, all stripey?

That jumper looks like that

MrsTerryPratcett · 19/12/2018 03:25

Nah it's the Anfield Paisley seats.

I actually think this is a cheap marketing department who want MN numbers without paying MN advertising.

MumsGoneToIceland · 19/12/2018 04:03

I don’t see it as festive so agree it can be worn all year. However, it’s personally not to my taste and therefore may not be to the taste of the recipient. So for me £118 is a lot to spend on a punt.

user1471426142 · 19/12/2018 04:19

I quite like the sequin one but I’d probably prefer a cheaper version as sequins will inevitably fall off. All my expensive cashmere jumpers have been rubbish and have holes in so I don’t think I’d invest again and I definitely wouldn’t spend £120 on something that was all man-made fibres.

CountFosco · 19/12/2018 06:30

If someone gave me the sequinned one I'd return it to Anthropologie and spent the money on something else. Never wear synthetics and it's too Christmassy. The stripy one is nice, wool, and can be worn all winter, I'd just wash it in the wool cycle in the machine.

LaurieMarlow · 19/12/2018 06:38

I like them both, but they aren't 'christmas' jumpers.

I might be tempted by the stripy one if feeling flush but no way would I pay that kind of money for acrylic.

MassDebate · 19/12/2018 06:38

YABU to pay full price as anthropologie regularly has 20% discount codes

Whatsnewwithyou · 19/12/2018 06:38

I would hate to receive something like that because I don't like it but would feel forced to keep and even wear it to show appreciation. Sorry OP but I would take it back. It doesn't even flatter the professional model who's wearing it in the photos! It's weird, too loud, ill-fitting, and looks to be much, much cheaper than it is (more of a primark look).

RitaTheBeater · 19/12/2018 06:47

I've never seen a jumper look less like it's worth £118 in my life. Shock

ImFreeToDoWhatIWant · 19/12/2018 07:01

Christ that first one is awful! Unless you are 100% rock solid certain of the recipient's taste I think buying clothes at that price level is a risky business.

ClemHFandango · 19/12/2018 07:09

Zara had a very similar jumper to the sequin one last year and I’ve seen several knockoffs of it this year. It’s lovely, but so expensive. Here’s an ASOS one that’s very similar:

m.asos.com/asos-design/asos-design-jumper-with-scattered-sequin-detail/prd/10227629?clr=camel&SearchQuery=sequin%20jumper&gridcolumn=2&gridrow=9&gridsize=2&pge=1&pgesize=72&totalstyles=42

I also like the striped one but I don’t think either are worth £118.

fieryginger · 19/12/2018 07:09

Neither of them are too festive. You can wear them year round imo.

WhatsUpHun · 19/12/2018 07:18

£118? Really? Saw you coming, I like the stripes, but would only pay 20

And that sequin one? Just stops at the shoulders (as pp said) that's shitty design

TheBigBangRocks · 19/12/2018 07:20

Some people spend that on a night out or a trip to the hairdresser, I'd image the jumper would last longer.

macarenaferreiro · 19/12/2018 07:25

It's not overtly Christmassy and could be worn all year round. The fact it's 80% alpaca will increase the price. Alpaca is lovely - not at all scratchy and much softer than many wools.

Thinking you could get any style of jumper made from 80% alpaca for £20 is crazy.
