As I am lost in an fog of confusion! So many cars! Which car do you drive? Would you recommend it? I have 4 dcs but the eldest is an adult at uni and two others are teens. Any suggestions?

I drive a brand new ford Kuga. Plenty of space for 5 adults, 3 of whom are 6ft+ and a huge boot. Lovely to drive too.

@ChaosTrulyReigns I loved my seat Alhambra, I had it for 20yrs until last year. Not only did it fit everyone in but it also fitted wardrobes, beds, cabinets etc lol. I miss it lots.

MaxTeyon Get a grip, I deleted a chunk of the post by mistake while trying to edit and hadn’t noticed
It’s an A class ..
Better?

Not really. Could be anything from an A45 AMG, or an A180d AMG Line

Thanks for those who responded to my request for "tiny car, high up driving" recommendations. Will bear in mind when next car hunting. Love the reliability of the Corsa I have now, and it looks great. I just can't get over how huge it is. First world problems.

I have a Mercedes SLK. I love it. It's very low tech, with only two settings: stop and go.

But with 4DC, OP - I'd probably recommend something with more than two seats Blush

A Kia Sportage, very roomy and comfy but expensive to run.

And a Ford Focus, more economic but compared to the Kia I feel really low down driving it!

TheVeryHungryDieter · 18/12/2018 22:37

I'm another Sportage owner who loves it.

I've driven most cars in the family class as we used to fly about 12 times a year (most of that home to Ireland, so not very exciting and you need a car because there's no public transport between airport and the village!). The Sportage was the only one where I was sitting in it at the departure airport absolutely gutted at having to hand it back, so we bought one a year later when we moved.

My next door neighbors scoffed at me when we had a conversation about cars - I say my dream car is a Kia and I already own it, but it's true!

Mazda MX5. It’s brilliant. Probably not ideal as a family car.

thenightsky · 19/12/2018 00:48

Doobigetta

Is that the new MX5? I'm waiting for the price to come down on 2nd hand ones, when I'll trade in my Smart Brabus Roadster for one.

I've got a BMW M3 (oh must be a dick)

He's got a BMW 3 estate for the dogs (oh he's a dick as well)

And a lovely older Defender that's great in the snow and for bobbing about.

We have no kids. Niece and nephew love the M3 and the defender.

Avoid vauxhall like the plague, constant recalls, breaking down and terrible customer service. I have a Honda Civic Type S 2007 which is very reliable. BMW, Ford, Audi... Depends how much you want to spend, fuel type and consumption, type of vehicle, what it's used for, who is using it etc etc. Bit hard to advise with so little info.

Hyundai Santa Fe with 7 seat option is a great choice for 4 kids.
