As I am lost in an fog of confusion! So many cars! Which car do you drive? Would you recommend it? I have 4 dcs but the eldest is an adult at uni and two others are teens. Any suggestions?

Range Rover Evoque. So easy to drive.

Floralhousecoat · 17/12/2018 21:53

I've only ever driven Vauxhall Corsas and find them reliable. Although the current one new model though only 1.4 feels massive. Boot space is huge.

On that note, can anyone recommend a car that's compact (as in teeny) but high up? I don't even know if that makes sense. Much less if a car like this exists.
Sorry for hijacking your thread op.

Ladymargarethall · 17/12/2018 21:55

Mokka? It is smallish and high up.
Or you could try the Juke, but space in the back is limited.

Suzuki Jimny

Mine would be far too small for you - VW Up. Perfect for just me and two kids though. Amazing fuel consumption and so easy to park.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 17/12/2018 22:01

20 yr old Alfa Spider. Completely impractical, spends most of its life in the garage hiding from UK weather.

MistyMinge · 17/12/2018 22:04

11yr old VW Golf that has served me very well and is still lovely to drive. I've had it 7 years and done a lot of miles. Keep thinking I should trade it in but not sure its worth it. Better the devil you know and all that.

GreenMeerkat · 17/12/2018 22:04

Zafira.

Does the job I need it to do

ThorsMistress · 17/12/2018 22:05

Vauxhall Astra.

I do love it and it's my first car but whether it's the age of it that has caused me countless problems or just my luck I don't know!

Sooperkat · 17/12/2018 22:05

Audi A3 for us and two DC so a bit small for you but can really recommend as a medium hatchback. I’ve always had Japanese before and I’m still a fan but I do love my A3. Mind I have an A4 as a crash repair car at the moment though and I don’t like it at all.

HollySwift · 17/12/2018 22:10

I have 4 DC and drive a Dacia Sandero Blush Need a 7 seater pronto Grin

anniehm · 17/12/2018 22:13

Mazda 5, can take 7 but has small boot when extra two seats are used. Huge boot when extra seats aren't needed (which fold into the boot). Great for the run to the tip though as when all seats are collapsed it's basically a van

QuestionableMouse · 17/12/2018 22:14

Vauxhall Zafira Tourer. I really like it.

milkysmum · 17/12/2018 22:16

Nissan quashqui- absolutely love it!

Coldilox · 17/12/2018 22:19

Nissan Qashqai. Fab car, loads of space, good boot, very economical. Like it more than I thought I would.

VinoEsmeralda · 17/12/2018 22:25

Volvo V70, will be replaced by something else soon. Tall kids, 6'3 and 6'6 plus even taller Dh and legroom on long distances is an issue.
Like the Tesla X but then we would have 2 electric cars and infrastructure not there yet to rely on this solemnly imo.

DontDribbleOnTheCarpet · 17/12/2018 22:25

We have 4 children and 2 of them are huge gangly teenagers. We find that having 2 smaller cars gives us more flexibility since it's quite rare for all of us to be going anywhere together. My husband had a Fiesta until recently when I bought him an Astra. I already had an Astra and I love it. Plenty of boot space, comfy to drive and enough power for even the steepest hills.

Nottobesoldseparately · 17/12/2018 22:27

Octavia estate.
I love estate cars.
It's me and my shopping in it most of the time.
But it was bought because we have a big dog and I like him to have lots of space when we take him out.

Back seat comfortably seats 3 tall adults when we do play taxi.

Didsomeonesaybunny · 17/12/2018 22:27

I drive a qashqai when I head back to Wales and usually use partners mustang when just travelling short distances.

Looking at motorbikes as I passed my test two weeks ago, have booked a touring weekend next year for my partner and I (not baby friendly!)

Dogmum94 · 17/12/2018 22:29

I have a Nissan Juke which I absolutely love, and my partner drives a Chrysler Crossfire which is so expensive and not practical at all but it’s an amazing car and quite rare

toconclude · 17/12/2018 22:44

Beat-up Vauxhall Astra. Not a large family car. Used to have a Zafira but it guzzled petrol.

mrsmalcolmreynolds · 17/12/2018 22:47

Hadjab thank you, that's really useful!

MrsPinkCock · 17/12/2018 23:01

I am with @luanmapo - I also have four DC and I loved my BMW gran tourer. Proper people carrier but didn’t feel too large or clunky like some I’ve had in the past.

I then swapped for a 4 series convertible which I love but is the most impractical car ever. No back seat or boot space. But tons of fun Grin

Next time I’ll go back to practicability, probably another larger BMW, I’ve had two now and don’t want to go back to anything else, they are fab.

MuchTooTired · 17/12/2018 23:06

VW Touareg, and I love it. Fits 2 massive baby seats, double pram and all the baby crap plus our stuff when we go away. Fuel economy is rubbish, but it’s quick and comfortable!

Armchairanarchist · 17/12/2018 23:10

Ford Kuga that parks for me. I'm really bad at parking.
