As I am lost in an fog of confusion! So many cars! Which car do you drive? Would you recommend it? I have 4 dcs but the eldest is an adult at uni and two others are teens. Any suggestions?

Hadjab how are you finding the F-Pace? We're really tempted by the big boot and its looks but I'm suspicious of the rear windscreen which looks v small - how's the rear visibility?

TheFairyCaravan · 17/12/2018 20:02

BMW 220 Active Tourer. It's the 5 seat model that luanmapo mentioned up thread. I absolutely love it. Ours is an 8 speed automatic diesel. It's really economical, very comfortable and there's loads of room in the back.

Mrsoh39 · 17/12/2018 20:02

Nissan pulsar 17 plate, 1.2 turbo and I love it, great boot space and leg room in the back.

ILoveAllRainbows · 17/12/2018 20:03

Honda CRV. We love it. It is the best car we have ever had.

chipsnmayo · 17/12/2018 20:05

This may be an unpopular view but avoid Honda, I know several people that have had lots of problems with Honda vehicles. Including myself, years ago I had one and it blew up on me...

AnneTwackie · 17/12/2018 20:06

Fiat 500L so two extra seat that can be collapsed in the boot. Boot is massive when they’re down but hardly any boot with them both up. All seats are really roomy, the back two are fine for me at 5ft 7” for a few hours.

Ford Fiesta automatic. I really like it

I drive a smart car as my to and from work and the DH has a 4x4 which does all the longer journeys or journeys that require space such as holidays etc.

For anyone needing a two seater as a run around to and from work / shops etc, seriously grab yourself a smart car. Small and compact and very speedy considering the small engine size.

People will take the kick but when they get in one or you let them dr be it they change their mind about how good they are!

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 17/12/2018 20:07

Renault clio estate. Its perfect for me, ds and ddog

Lazybonita · 17/12/2018 20:13

Land Rover Discovery. I love it.

Sexnotgender · 17/12/2018 20:15

Skoda fabia estate Monte Carlo version. Love it.

gruffalomom · 17/12/2018 20:17

I have a Volvo XC90 and I absolutely love it. Safe, spacious and flexible. Mine is older though and some of the features are a bit naff - Sat nav is not worth having!!

Chickenwings85 · 17/12/2018 20:17

I have a Corsa SXI but there's only 3 of us. I really want a Nissan juke though..

thecatsabsentcojones · 17/12/2018 20:19

Currently a Saab 9-3 Convertible, it's the interim car bought after my Discovery died. I need something that does exactly what the Disco did but without the ongoing break downs. If anyone has an idea on what tell me!

Nat6999 · 17/12/2018 20:24

I've got a Hyundai Tucson 1.7 CRDI SE Bluemotion, I've had it nearly 3 years, lovely car, not had any problems with it. I'm looking at a Seat Leon FR Sport 1.5 Evo had a Leon hatchback a few years ago & loved it, I'm disabled so have to look for something that suits my disability.

Ladymargarethall · 17/12/2018 20:26

We have had two Ford Galaxies. We loved them for their space and versatility. We have downsized to a Kuga, which is a great car, but we really miss the massive boot space in the Galaxy.
When we were looking 2nd hand Galaxies were like hen 's teeth, whereas Kugas were plentiful, which is why we made the swap.

MyNameIsNotSteven · 17/12/2018 20:28

7 year old Kia C'eed - good, reliable car so far.

2003 Audi estate with 240k on the clock - flipping amazing. Love it.

I couldn't countenance paying out hundreds a month for a car.

MaisyMary77 · 17/12/2018 20:28

Volvo XC90. Fits six of us really comfortably. The two seats at the very back are big enough for two adults to sit for long journeys in comfort. There’s also a huge boot. Mine is the T8 hybrid-great for shortish commutes, school runs and pootling around. There’s also some great tech on board-they’ve def improved the sat-nav since the old model. Smile

GinisLife · 17/12/2018 20:30

Mercedes C220 coupe softop. Very impractical. Only 2 seats in the back with no leg room. But it looks great !! Should never have had it though Grin

I do find a lot of women in particular wit large cars have no idea how big they are though abs struggle to drive them

Bonkersblond · 17/12/2018 20:32

VW California, its also our holiday home.

wafflethewonderdog · 17/12/2018 20:32

VW T-roc - bought new in April. Absolutely love it. 2 car seats in the back with room between and a huge boot.

PhannyMcNee · 17/12/2018 20:33

4dc 17 to 9. I had a fab Ford Fiesta 1.0l Ecoboost that we have gone from London-Cornwall-Yorkshire in reasonable comfort in.

Unfortunately the 17yo wrapped it around a lamppost so I now have a 15yo 3 door Renault Clio. It won’t be doing anything more than local driving I fear as there’s not much room in the back and it would probably fall apart...

We also have a Renault Espace but are looking to get a van/minibus as the dc are getting too tall to sit comfortably in the back seats.

mintchick · 17/12/2018 20:33

We've got 2012 Peugeot 308 and a 2010 Renault Clio. Both boots only just big enough to get my DTs double buggy in it but both diesel and very economical. Free road tax on the Clio and 30 quid for the Peugeot.

TheMadGardener · 17/12/2018 20:36

I don't have my own car technically but I drive DH's 2013 Toyota Auris. He's ill and doesn't drive much at the moment so I probably use it 90% of the time. It's not the most exciting car - we call it his "old man" car! - but it does the job, drives well, gets good mpg, can accelerate away when needed, enough room for the DDs and their gear and for hauling loads of stuff from the family houses I have been clearing out this year.

I secretly hanker after a Mini Countryman or a small jeep. My DSis has a Skoda Yeti which she loves with a passion.
