As I am lost in an fog of confusion! So many cars! Which car do you drive? Would you recommend it? I have 4 dcs but the eldest is an adult at uni and two others are teens. Any suggestions?

@MrsPinkCock Funny you say you’ve gone to a 4 series convertible, as that’s my next car I want!
I said this was going to be my last 7 seater as eldest will be driving in a year and I am done with MPVs.... time for a fun car for me to drive!!!

civicxx · 18/12/2018 00:36

The new Subaru :) 5 star ncap & amazing safety features and class as standard :)

Mummylife2018 · 18/12/2018 01:37

Audi Q2 but wishing I'd got the Ford Edge!!!! Just love that big Ford!

My Audi is probably too small for you but it's a fab car all the same :)

Mummylife2018 · 18/12/2018 01:39

@19lottie82 You are aware that Volkswagen (who make Golfs) are German?!?!

Mummylife2018 · 18/12/2018 01:41

@Boredboredboredboredbored Interested to know what you dislike about it? X

puzzledlady · 18/12/2018 01:44

Lexus 4X4. Have two toddlers and two dogs.

Lauren83 · 18/12/2018 06:04

Kia Sportage and I love it, I did have a Peugeot 207 but we have an 11 month old and another on the way so had to get something bigger. DP has a new Ford Mondeo (company car)

lborgia · 18/12/2018 06:21

Koleos - Renault, and a Mitsubishi. Mitsubishi had amazing space but very heavy to handle. Whereas the koleos is amazing. And back seat space comfortably takes 6footers. If you don't often need space for 5 or more in your car, stick to a roomy 5- seater. So much easier.

Panicmode1 · 18/12/2018 06:34

We have 4 DCs who are very tall, and DH is 6ft 6 so currently we have a VW Sharan but we are struggling with the next car. The Disco/XC90s we've test driven feel like inverse Tardises - look huge from the outside but don't have enough leg room in the rear seats and there is virtually no boot when all 7 seats are used, meaning our large dog would have to sit on the roof! Bit stumped by what we will get next. We are waiting to see what the new Defender looks like when it's out next year. Otherwise it will be a minibus I think!

sickmumma · 18/12/2018 07:07

3 kids (number 4 on the way) we have a bmw gran tourer which I love and was cheap! (Cheaper than a s max!!)

I also loved my Mini Countryman I had before but we outgrew it!

DH has a Mini Cooper sport which is great but only has 4 seats so completely impractical as we don't all fit! Think we will always have a mini in our lives though as we had one when we first got together and just really love them!

BlindTipsy · 18/12/2018 07:51

@Floralhousecoat I have a Renault Captur - described often as a 'Clio on stilts' so might fit your requirements, I love it.

Sassypants82 · 18/12/2018 08:10

Citroën C4 Grand picasso. 2 kids & another due in the summer. It takes 3 carseats across the second row & has two other comfortable seats in the boot, it a massive boot if not used. Nice features, comfortable, affordable & is most economical in its class. Lowest CO2 emissions etc. I don't tend to get very excited by cars but it suits us very well.

Mumofaprinny · 18/12/2018 09:25

Galaxy are brilliant, stay away from Hyundai Santa Fe’s, they come in a seven seater also. You would need a hefty bank balance to run it! That’s just the 08 one though, not sure what the very new ones are like! Good luck car shopping!🚘🙂

onemoretimepls · 18/12/2018 10:12

Ford Explorer, love it!!! So much space

steff13 · 18/12/2018 10:14

Ford Edge. I really love it.

Buggeritimgettingup · 18/12/2018 10:18

Ford tourneo connect 7 proper seats and can fit a wheelchair in the boot with seats up and sliding doors which were a revelation.

BonfiresOfInsanity · 18/12/2018 10:22

Lexus RC and I love it. DH has a big estate car if we need to do family stuff. The DCs love my car - until they have to go in the back seat (nearly impossible for my teen DS Grin )

species5618 · 18/12/2018 10:24

I'm assuming you need a total of 6 seats so how about a Toyota Verso.
it's nominally a 5 seater but with extra 2 rear seats for occasional use. Good to drive and exceptionally reliable. Ideal for the uni runs as well!

Sabulous · 18/12/2018 10:39

About to get a Skoda Kodiaq as it has a giant boot. Used to have a mini countryman which was fine for one DC, but now we have two DC it felt too small.

Sabulous · 18/12/2018 10:40

Forgot to say that the Kodiaq has a 5 or 7 seat option.

PumpkinKitty82 · 18/12/2018 10:46

I have a DS3 . Love it as it’s usually just me in it and sometimes my dd.
Dh has a Mercedes AMG which is what he uses for work etc and we use when we’re all together .
Both have not bad boots or rear seats considering mine is 3 door

species5618 · 18/12/2018 11:41

Forgot to say. If you do mainly short journeys (5 miles or less) then avoid diesels.
Also on the avoid list are semi-autos, and anything with Powershift in the name ie Fords.

MaxTeyon · 18/12/2018 14:07

Dh has a Mercedes AMG

You know that’s not a model right? And thus has no useful info for anyone on this thread? It could be anything from a proper AMG S63 to a diesel A Class with an “AMG” trim level.

Whatdoesitmatteranyway · 18/12/2018 14:13

Me: 2018 Mercedes E CLass Cab 220d

Him: 2017 Mercedes S Class 350d

I've only driven Mercs for about 10 years and would be reluctant to drive anything else.

If I won the lottery I'd get an S Class Cab.

Apple841 · 18/12/2018 14:13

I drive a BMW 118i, I most certainly know how to indicate and try to never speed. It is lovely because it's brand new but my next new car will be a Renault Kadjar or similar Wink

I have to say Zafira's, Picasso's, Scenic, Ford S-Max, anything family car like are the work of the devil. They always seem to contain people who want to drive 20mph under the limit and slow down even further 200 yards from a junction.
