Is neighbour being cheeky?

I'm constantly constantly taking deliveries for next door. Don't really mind, I'm usually home but have a little baby and does get annoying.

Anyway this morning I've had 3 separate deliveries. Last one really annoyed me as I'm trying to settle baby, wouldn't of answer the door but they say me in the window. It's a big massive desk this time.

Anyway said to the driver I'll take it but mentioned I'm fed up of it and this is the last one I'm taking. Driver pointed over to neighbours door and said there's a note on it saying 'leave any parcels with number 17'

And she's been home since and not bothered to come and collect them, she will wait for my husband to bring them round to her.

I know it's not first world issues but I'm no longer answering the door. I've never minded taking her parcels but to write a note on the door I think is a bit cheeky. Do you agree?

Very pleasing update, OP.

Vivianebrezilletbrooks · 19/12/2018 13:08

Glad to hear you got it sorted OP.
Your HB is diamond!
Oh and the CF neighbour here,it was an Inflatable dinghy. Wish I'd said "Well you didn't order a paddle with it then but then you're up s*t creek as far as I'm concerned anyway !" Humourless twat wouldn't have got the joke anyway.
Have a lovely Christmas OP!

diddl · 19/12/2018 13:09

Should anyone try to deliver for her, I'd be interested to know why they've come to you iyswim.

Sheldonsaysbazinga · 19/12/2018 13:53

OMG this sounds like my former neighbor. did you just move into my old apartment. Once when i rejected her delivery on a friday, she arranged a redelivery to my apartment on monday. she never comes to pick them up and always waited for me or my husband to deliver them to her.
another time, she ordered what i guessed were mothers day flowers, i thought surely, she would come pick them up before mother's day but alas, the flowers stayed at mine for about a week before i gave up and delivered them to her door. it was insane.lol.

OopsInamechangedagain · 19/12/2018 14:22

I once had a delivery driver try to get me to accept a massive box of cheese for next door. I said no as they're often away for days at a time due to work. Driver tried laying it on thick saying he couldn't leave it anywhere else and if I refused to take it it'd go off, I just said sorry but I'm not taking it, there's no way I was filling up my fridge space at Christmas with somebody else's delivery. Usually I'm a complete wet lettuce but I found my backbone that day!

NamedyChangedy · 19/12/2018 14:56

My neighbour and I have an unwritten arrangement where we take each other's parcels in - we both occasionally work from home so it's usually about 50:50. But it's very much an 'if I'm around' favour, I wouldn't ever formally put her down to receive them or anything, as I think that would be crossing a line. If it was an emergency I would definitely ask her first!

yesmelord · 19/12/2018 15:00

I've started to say no to neighbours deliveries too,

I had one courier the other day argue with me when I refused their package, no one else on the road accepted it either (I watched him ask all 7 other houses)

These neighbours in particular have had so many packages left with us. Some times they pick up sometimes they wait for us to take them.

The last time she came to get them all she said was 'parcel' when I opened the door... it was after that I decided no more.

HaudYerWheestHen · 19/12/2018 15:26

Well done to your husband OP! That was brilliant. Our neighbours are great and we are quite happy to have each other down as alternative drop off points but we both offered first! To just assume is CFer territory.
Just the other day I saw a delivery driver give up and go to take the package back so I popped out and offered to take it.

The only issue I have with the way you dealt with this OP is that you never got to see her face 😂

BiscuitsAreLife · 19/12/2018 15:28

At least you guys don’t live here in the states where they chuck your parcels outside (on the doorstep if you’re lucky, but usually just on the lawn). Regardless if you’re at home or not!

WhatchaMaCalllit · 19/12/2018 15:49

@BiscuitsAreLife - I couldn't believe that so many packages are stolen from doorsteps in the US, until I watched this video on Youtube -

Well worth a watch!

user0816 · 19/12/2018 15:50

But a sign on your door stating that you don't accept parcels for number x (put the number of your neigbour here) or stating that parcels for number x should be left here (put an arrow here that indicates in the direction of your neighbours door).

hairypaws · 19/12/2018 16:06

@WhatchaMaCalllit that video is brilliant!

DrinkFeckArseGirls · 19/12/2018 16:13

Love your DH, OP. Lazy cow - can't believe she hadn't trotted to yours yesterday evening - was hubby away and she couldn't deal with all that heavy shopping?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 19/12/2018 16:48

Ha serves her right, well done!

My neighbour told me she had a CF neighbour have four kids bicycles delivered to hers (delivery driver told her the note said to deliver them to my neighbour!) and after a few days of them literally blocking her whole hallway she went round and asked them to come and collect them. CF neighbour told her they thought it would be ok to leave the bicycles at hers as they were Christmas presents and had no where to store/hide them from their kids! She told them to take them before she sold them on Facebook - funnily enough CF neighbours came round to pick them up sharpish 😂

Love a satisfying update!

Thanks, OP Grin

fortyforty · 19/12/2018 17:45

I wish I could show you all a pic but she's had more 'rustic' furniture delivered this afternoon. They didn't knock on my door this time. She's got about 6 boxes all stacked up over her front door! She won't be able to get in without moving them all the poor love GrinGrin

OP posts:
WilburforceRaven · 19/12/2018 17:52

She's a divvy and she's very lucky someone hasn't nicked her parcels.

CanSurvive · 19/12/2018 17:56

Your DH is awesome and well done for not having to take all the furniture in today!

gladheart · 19/12/2018 17:58

Looks like you amended the note just in time then!

woolduvet · 19/12/2018 18:03

So you'd have all that crap too!!

TheRedFox · 19/12/2018 18:11

@fortyforty Are you sure you can't post a sneaky pic....? Wink

BabySharkDooDooDooDoo · 19/12/2018 20:06

She will be raging you wont take her parcels in now the poor wee scone 😂😂😂

mothertruck3r · 19/12/2018 20:08

Did your husband leave the parcels outside her house or outside yours for her to come and take?

PoisonousSmurf · 19/12/2018 20:09

Thanks for the update Grin

ItsJustASimpleLine · 19/12/2018 20:13
