Is neighbour being cheeky?

I'm constantly constantly taking deliveries for next door. Don't really mind, I'm usually home but have a little baby and does get annoying.

Anyway this morning I've had 3 separate deliveries. Last one really annoyed me as I'm trying to settle baby, wouldn't of answer the door but they say me in the window. It's a big massive desk this time.

Anyway said to the driver I'll take it but mentioned I'm fed up of it and this is the last one I'm taking. Driver pointed over to neighbours door and said there's a note on it saying 'leave any parcels with number 17'

And she's been home since and not bothered to come and collect them, she will wait for my husband to bring them round to her.

I know it's not first world issues but I'm no longer answering the door. I've never minded taking her parcels but to write a note on the door I think is a bit cheeky. Do you agree?

They're some fabulously cheeky parcely bastards on this thread!

someoneseatenmyapple · 19/12/2018 06:59

I could have written your post OP. My neighbours have nominated me on Amazon to take their parcels ( I know this because when I refused a parcel the driver said - but your names down here to take their parcels).

Like you, she barely speaks to me and sends her husband over to collect the packages (usually after about 4 days).

I work from home and order things online for my business, so I answer the door, because they might be for me.

Thinking of getting one of those RING doorbells, but not sure if it'll make any difference.

strawberrisc · 19/12/2018 07:07

My next door neighbours take my parcels in but it was pre-agreed. I get most delivered to work.

morningconstitutional2017 · 19/12/2018 08:00

What a cheeky so and so! It's time to put a sign on your door saying 'I no longer accept parcels for neighbours' - no ifs, no buts and no apologies. You're being taken for a ride and it's not on.

Leave the desk outside and she can jolly well get it herself. If you're feeling brave put a note on the desk 'large deliveries are unacceptable and I will not deal with them.'

She's burned her boats hasn't she? She only has herself to blame.

Clutterbugsmum · 19/12/2018 08:09

I would put a note through her door stating if parcel was not collected by Thursday 8pm on 20/12/18 you will be contacting the company to arrange for parcel to be collected and returned to company. And under no circumstances will you be accepting any parcel for her and to remove her note asking delivering companies to take her deliveries to your house.

user0816 · 19/12/2018 08:55

I would leave a message under ehr dorr that she is to collect her stuff until xx (insert time just before your husband comes home) today otherwise you will leave it in front of your house for her to collect.
I would also pin a note to my front door that all deliveries for number 17 should be left here (with an arrow indicating in the direction of her door). Xmas Smile

VerbenaGirl · 19/12/2018 09:33

I wouldn't take them round to her! Let her come to you.

Returnofthesmileybar · 19/12/2018 10:38

Mummylife2018 sorry I just saw your comment now, here's the link, enjoy, it's hilarious!!

LakieLady · 19/12/2018 10:55

I don't mind taking in a parcel now and then for the neighbours that are nearby and that we chat too, but some of the newer ones are cheeky fuckers. One family, who've only been here a few weeks and have never spoken to me or NDN, give delivery instructions to deliver at mine or NDN's if they're out. I don't take them, and one delivery driver got proper arsey with me, demanding to know why I wouldn't.

I don't take parcels in for anyone else and some delivery drivers will just knock on doors until they find someone at home. I've given up answering the door to them.

ralfeesmum · 19/12/2018 11:04

In future, diplomatically "don't be in" and after a few deliveries have been left (hopefully) in the rain around her back door she'll get the message!

But, a bloody big desk? That's real nerve alright.

fortyforty · 19/12/2018 11:11

Oh gosh sorry everyone, I've just come back on and seen this thread is still going!

So....we had the parcels over night. She was in all evening and never bothered to collect.

Next morning, the note was still on the door. So DH decided to take a pen, cross out her 'leave with number 17' (underlined 5 times) wording and wrote something along the lines of ' your parcels are cluttering up our hallway. Leaving them outside seen as you haven't bothered to get them. Don't use our house as your delivery service again, my wife is looking after our baby and you have disturbed them both greatly....merry Christmas'

He underlined 'you' 5 times 😂

When I did the school run, they were still outside. When I returned, she had taken the note off the door and moved them. Not seen her since

Well done DH! CF will hopefully learn her lesson :-D

ChristmassyContessaConSparkles · 19/12/2018 11:21

Amazing! You have a fab DH Grin

Hushnownobodycares · 19/12/2018 11:33

Good to hear you're refusing to take any more parcels but I can't get over agreeing to take a mahoosive desk for her Shock

That's CF'ery on a massive scale not just on her part but on the delivery driver's too. He must have been over the moon getting away with that one.

RiverTam · 19/12/2018 11:43

Hahaha excellent!

LorraineBainesMcFly · 19/12/2018 11:49

Oh good outcome! I love a story all tied up Xmas Smile

fortyforty · 19/12/2018 11:52

@Hushnownobodycares it was just pressure lol. Screaming baby, tiredness, dss missing present. I was just like 'yeah whatever'. Tbf answering the door on that one made me find out about the note, otherwise would never have known about it

OP posts:
fortyforty · 19/12/2018 11:53

It will be interesting to see if I get anymore now. As I've realised when she orders stuff online, I bet she always puts in the special request box 'leave with 17'.

WhatchaMaCalllit · 19/12/2018 12:13

Way to go Mr fortyforty! Your DH is a diamond!

Just make sure you have a note on your door now or visible through the glass (if you have it, which means that they can't remove your note) that says that you will only accept deliveries for the residents of #17 - NO EXCEPTIONS.

Have a lovely clutter free Christmas OP!

yesmelord · 19/12/2018 12:15

Whoop whoop!

Perfect outcome! Wine

Ninabean17 · 19/12/2018 12:23

Great outcome op! And well done dh!

DoingMyBest2010 · 19/12/2018 12:32

don't accept the parcels, make them take them back to the depot :-)

Atalune · 19/12/2018 12:33

Good on him and you!

WilburforceRaven · 19/12/2018 12:56

Hurray! NEVER take another one for her again. I'd put a note on my door, 'NO parcels for No. 19 accepted here!'
