To blame Have I Got News For You for the mess we’re currently in?

None of this would have happened if Johnston, Farage and Rees-Mogg hadn’t been invited on and been allowed to present themselves as “good sports”.

The myths from WW2 are responsible for the mess we are in with brexit.

What I've said is not a "myth". The myth is that western Europe liberated itself thanks to the Soviets who are ones we really ought be thanking.

Slightlycoddled · 17/12/2018 11:18

And that's rubbish (and highly insulting) about people despising their own country and not recognising all that the UK has to offer.

Some of us are abroad working on behalf of UK businesses.

We just happen to have a more realistic view of where the UK stands currently in terms of trade and political influence than some on here!

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 11:37

If a political party said in 1980 "our goal is to have 3 million Muslims in the UK by 2018, and by 2050 we hope to have at least doubled that number again, our projections however are that we will have at least 13 million Muslims by then"

Do you think anyone would have voted for such a policy ? Do you not think this is enormously significant ? The whole of Europe feels the same way and they blame the EU for it as pro EU parties are generally also pro immigration.

Slightlycoddled · 17/12/2018 11:43

Ahh, so now we get to the crux of it.

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 11:50

Ahh, so now we get to the crux of it.

Have you not read the thread ?

This is a policy that no one in Europe got much of a say in. Now you have political parties forming across the continent explicitly opposing the continuation of mass immigration and millions of Europeans start voting for them. It's because they dont want what they have got over the last 20 years. Which despite others attempts to obscure it and say stuff like well Catholics and Jews were viewed very negatively as well, is unprecedented and umdemocratic.

Slightlycoddled · 17/12/2018 12:26

I've read the thread.

Frankly appalled that the ghost of Enoch Powell is stalking Mumsnet.

BorisBogtrotter · 17/12/2018 12:29

You seem pretty confident about what the whole of Europe.

Actually you are just propagating anti Muslim bullshit here.

Your arguments are trash and so are you.

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 12:31

Whatever. let's just carry on and stick our heads up our ass and blame it on racism. I mean, what could possibly go wrong ?

Slightlycoddled · 17/12/2018 12:33

And they blame us for propagating "project fear" Hmm

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 12:35

Actually you are just propagating anti Muslim bullshit here.

Convincing argument that Islam will simply be assimilated by Europe and any of the, you know, unpleasant bits tamed quite easily.

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 12:40

And they blame us for propagating "project fear"

I think Manchester, Rotherham, 7/7, Charlie hebdo, Paris etc etc, the fact 52% of Muslims in the uk think homosexuality should be illegal are actually the cause of peoples fear. But let's not bother naming the problem because then people would be "appalled" at us. Its this sort of moral cowardice that leads to the failings in places like Rotherham. Don't mention it.

Mind you, Charlie hebdo taught us you do need to be careful what you say eh ?

BorisBogtrotter · 17/12/2018 12:47

"Convincing argument that Islam will simply be assimilated by Europe and any of the, you know, unpleasant bits tamed quite easily."

You haven't presented any convincing arguments for this.

" Manchester, Rotherham, 7/7, Charlie Hebdo, Paris"

Selective, I can identify terrorist attacks by white Christians, shootings, white grooming gangs too.

You want to take a minority of bad people doing bad things and extrapolate that to the whole of the populations.

BTW 46% of US Christians are not in favour of homosexuality either.

Slightlycoddled · 17/12/2018 13:22

It's nothing to do with moral cowardice; it's bigotry. Tantamount to saying that the violent actions of the IRA were representative of most Catholics (and speaking as an Irish Catholic I can vouch for the fact that that was emphatically not the case).

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 13:57

Do you think anyone would have voted for a party that stated this as a policy goal ?

ElonMask · 17/12/2018 13:59

If you honestly see no difference between the IRA and IS/Al Qaeda et al....

BorisBogtrotter · 17/12/2018 14:06

What you mean you see no comparison between terrorist groups.

Ooops forgot IS etc are brown.

Slightlycoddled · 17/12/2018 14:23

Perhaps off your blinkers Elon and look at the work being done :

here

(scroll down and read about the Shalom Salam kitchen) who feed the poor of all faiths here

and

here

Unfinishedkitchen · 18/12/2018 15:27

So Catholic terrorists are ‘better’ than Muslim terrorists even though the results are the same - death and injury. Disgusting attitude and how awful for the loved ones of those killed and injured by the IRA. Shame on you Elon Musk. Shame on you.

ElonMask · 18/12/2018 17:05

Why yes, you're quite right. How silly of me, the IRA are just as concerning as IS. IS manage to kill more children in one attack than the IRA did in the whole of "the troubles"

Despite your faux outrage you know as well as I do that no country in Europe would have elected a political party who made it their policy to have anything from 10 to 30% of the population Muslim by 2050.

But, would it bother you if the majority of the UK was Muslim ? Saying it will never happen is not an answer.

You see despite being a "racist" I'd have no problem the the uk actually being white minority country. I can see that that also will happen one day.

ElonMask · 18/12/2018 17:06

The problem is a religion and the culture that goes with it, not the colour of the adhert skin.

ElonMask · 18/12/2018 17:06

*adherents

BorisBogtrotter · 18/12/2018 17:17

"Despite your faux outrage you know as well as I do that no country in Europe would have elected a political party who made it their policy to have anything from 10 to 30% of the population Muslim by 2050. "

Strawman fail, you are setting the parameters of the question so you can knock it down.

Its also funny that you are selective about crimes committed by Muslims but fail to acknowledge similar ones committed by far right christian groups.

ElonMask · 18/12/2018 17:24

Ah, so you want answer that one. Perhaps you could list some Muslim majority countries you would like to live in ?

ElonMask · 18/12/2018 17:28

similar ones committed by far right christian groups.

Wtf are you on about ? When did a "far right christian group" ever deliberately drive a massive truck into a huge crowd of people ? Behead aid workers? Send suicide bombers to an Ariana Grande concert with the express aim of killing and maiming as many people as possible ?

ElonMask · 18/12/2018 17:32

"Strawman fail"

Excuse me, but you are arguing that mass immigration of Muslims into Europe is just fine. And that anyone who doesnt share your view is a bigot or a racist. Are you not ?
