Should I take DD to a&e?

DD, aged 2, woke up at 5.30 complaining her tummy hurt. She has been sick more times than I can count since then, and can't keep water down. It's bright yellow/green bile. I phoned 111 and got an emergency gp appointment. GP said that it might be norovirus, albeit with unusual presentation as DD has no diarrhoea. Also the rest of the family is fine and no known outbreaks at nursery. Suggested diaoralite and an ice lolly. Both chucked straight back up after less than five mins.

It will be 24 hours since DD drank and kept it down at 6pm, and 24 hours since she went for a wee at 6.30pm (early bedtime last night). She hasn't eaten all day. She is floppy, not talking to me normally or answering me verbally, just gesturing. She won't sit up under her own steam and her head is flopping over. She is awake. Just not herself at all. No temperature according to GP but she feels warm to me.

I rang back 111 as per gps suggestion and I'm waiting for a clinician to call back, I don't know if I can wait much longer! Freaking out as this is so not like her!

I should hold off going to a&e right??? Talk me down!!!!

Any update? Poor little thing

TisTheSeasonForPigsInBlankets · 12/12/2018 20:51

I hope she's ok OP. She's in the right place though bless her

bobstersmum · 12/12/2018 20:53

I hope she's OK! We had norovirus here and the little ones didn't get diarrhea, only me.

anniehm · 12/12/2018 20:59

Any news?

For the future find out if there's a walk in gp service where you live - ours is open 8am-9pm no appointment but you wait (forever if it's minor).

todayiwin · 12/12/2018 21:01

Hope she's ok Thanks

Kittykat93 · 12/12/2018 21:03

People asking for updates - give the op a chance! She's in hospital with her poorly child. I'm sure she will update when she is ready.

Hotpinkangel19 · 12/12/2018 21:06

Glad she's in hospital - hope she's better really soon

ItWasntMeItWasIm · 12/12/2018 21:16

Hope she feels better soon

CheshireChat · 12/12/2018 21:29

I hope she's ok, OP.

I think the current advice is that if they're unresponsive/ floppy it's an A&E job straightaway.

I do think the 'do not abuse the NHS' message needs tweaking as people are reluctant to go when they should, whereas the CF that go for a broken nail (salon job, not ripped off or something!) will go regardless.

QuickNC123 · 12/12/2018 22:35

Also hope she’s ok OP xx

scatteredglitter · 12/12/2018 22:39

Hope your little one is ok fwiw you made the right call to go op

Myheartbelongsto · 12/12/2018 22:40

Jesus Christ, who asks a bunch of strangers on the net if they should take their non responsive child to A & E!!!!

What would you have done had they said no.

OwlsAndBears · 12/12/2018 22:43

You've done the right thing to follow your instinct and get her seen urgently. I hope she feels better soon.

Reccy2018 · 12/12/2018 22:45

Some bloody awful responses on here. OP doubted herself given the advice from her GP and wanted other opinions from parents. This woman is having an extremely stressful day so fuck off with your unnecessary judgmental attitudes some of you.

sparklesaremyfavourite · 12/12/2018 22:45

Please do let us know how she is! 💜💕

BarbarianMum · 12/12/2018 22:46

I think the OP got pretty good advice on here heart - except for those from idiots like you.

FantasticHarryPotter · 12/12/2018 22:47

I hope your DD is in hospital getting sorted OP.

MrsChopper · 12/12/2018 22:48

amymel2016 · 12/12/2018 22:55

Hope she’s ok op xx

GiveMeAllTheGin8 · 12/12/2018 22:58

Small children get dehydrated so quickly. My 5 year old ended up in hospital with dehydration after vomiting for less than 10 hours.
Couldn't even keep a teaspoon of water down.
After 7 hours in hospital she was back to herself!
Hope your dd will be on the mend very soon Flowers

MrMakersFartyParty · 12/12/2018 22:59

Oh do shut up @Myheartbelongsto OP had followed her gps instructions and was waiting for 111 to call back.
