Should I take DD to a&e?

DD, aged 2, woke up at 5.30 complaining her tummy hurt. She has been sick more times than I can count since then, and can't keep water down. It's bright yellow/green bile. I phoned 111 and got an emergency gp appointment. GP said that it might be norovirus, albeit with unusual presentation as DD has no diarrhoea. Also the rest of the family is fine and no known outbreaks at nursery. Suggested diaoralite and an ice lolly. Both chucked straight back up after less than five mins.

It will be 24 hours since DD drank and kept it down at 6pm, and 24 hours since she went for a wee at 6.30pm (early bedtime last night). She hasn't eaten all day. She is floppy, not talking to me normally or answering me verbally, just gesturing. She won't sit up under her own steam and her head is flopping over. She is awake. Just not herself at all. No temperature according to GP but she feels warm to me.

I rang back 111 as per gps suggestion and I'm waiting for a clinician to call back, I don't know if I can wait much longer! Freaking out as this is so not like her!

I should hold off going to a&e right??? Talk me down!!!!

Has she been pooing ok recently? DD was recently admitted to hospital as she hadn't weed. Turned out she had chronic constipation and been having 'overflow' poos which I thought was a setback with potty training and didn't think about it. The blockage of poo had squeezed her wee tube closed and she couldn't pee. An enema and much movicol later and she is getting there. She was so poorly though.

Fibbertigibbet · 12/12/2018 17:13

OP, your daughter is very sick. Please take her to A&E.

yawning801 · 12/12/2018 17:14

Go. Listen to the people of Mumsnet, and go. Stay strong for her, OP.

WhoTookTheChristmasCookie · 12/12/2018 17:15

Sounds a lot like when my DD had Noro.

No diarrhoea but couldn't keep down any fluids at all and was vomiting bile.
I was advised by the GP to use a medicine syringe and give her tiny amounts of water every 10 minutes - if she didn't keep that down I was to take her to A&E.

Sounds like your DD may already be past that point though with the floppiness; take her in.

Hope she feels better soon Thanks

Hubblebubbletripletrouble · 12/12/2018 17:16

Hope you get into hospital ok - definitely the best place for her Flowers

Feefeetrixabelle · 12/12/2018 17:16

Take her to a and e. Floppiness is not a normal reaction in I’ll ess and needs checking it out

Twotome · 12/12/2018 17:21

Absolutely go. Hope she is OK.

Witchend · 12/12/2018 17:25

When ds was not as bad as that the GP wanted to blue light him to hospital.

Mummadeeze · 12/12/2018 17:25

I don’t think any hospital minds you bringing in a very sick child. I remember doing that with my daughter when she was a toddler and they were very thorough and kind. Best of luck and hope she is okay.

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 12/12/2018 17:27

A&E, please don't hold off!

christmaschristmaschristmas · 12/12/2018 17:30

Take her to A&E. No doctor will mind checking over a poorly child.

She sounds seriously dehydrated, so I would take a few things with you in case you get admitted for fluids and further assessment.

PS - even though you should stay away from hospitals with norovirus, some people are poorly enough to need hospital treatment for it. Like any other condition.

Quartz2208 · 12/12/2018 17:32

Both myself and DD have had bad norovirus and at no point were we floppy and couldnt hold our heads up - I would go to A&E

nocoolnamesleft · 12/12/2018 17:34

Hopefully you've already left for A&E. If you haven't, do so now.

A paediatrician.

Youngandfree · 12/12/2018 17:36

Not a question at all!! Yes!!

winecigsandchoc · 12/12/2018 17:36

Thanks for all the messages, I rang back 111 and they're sending an ambulance out- they insisted!

To young to be getting that dehydrated. That much sickness with no diarrhoea is not usual for noro. I would be wanting to rule out appendicitis. A&E.

winecigsandchoc · 12/12/2018 17:37

Also yes I waited an hour between vomits earlier in the day and she slept for 2 hours hen vomited herself awake. She's now vomiting without drinking prior

X post, sorry. Good luck, OP.

Heyjudas · 12/12/2018 17:39

Poor thing. Hope ambulance gets to you quickly.

Aeroflotgirl · 12/12/2018 17:40

Oh no poor dd, hope that she gets better soon. Ds always had unusual presentation of norovirus, vomitting and no diahorreah.

IHeartKingThistle · 12/12/2018 17:40

111 sent an ambulance for me last month when I was so ill with noro that I couldn't get off the bathroom floor. I had 5 bags of fluids and lots of anti emetics before they let me out. Glad they've sent one out for your DD too.

Justaboy · 12/12/2018 17:41

And do let us know the outcome please!

It all adds to the collective knowledge!

Hope the wee soul gets better and soon:)

DartmoorDoughnut · 12/12/2018 17:44

Hope she’s better soon Flowers

OoohAyyye · 12/12/2018 17:45

Poor thing. I'm glad they're sending an ambulance and I hope she perks up asap.

BlueThesaurusRex · 12/12/2018 17:47

Hope she’s feeling better soon Flowers
