Many people and organisations use these words interchangerbly. The meaning is always clear. I actually don't give a stuff if others disagree.

When are you going to concede that women have something in common with trans women that they don't have in common with men? And that it isn't because of their biology?

I don't agree women as a class have anything in common with this group of male people.

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:50

How do people know which babies to abort

They abort the ones they don't want. Why would they not want one with a vagina? It's not because vaginas are terrible, it's because of what it's supposed to mean to be female. It's because of gender, not sex. The two are more interlinked than you would like to acknowledge.

How do men know what people to rape

Men rape whoever they want to dominate. They rape men and women. Gender tells them that men dominate women, so that is who they rape more often.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:51

No one is aborted because of the gender identity. They haven't even been born to display it.

They are aborted because of the sex

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:51

Have you heard of identifying as disabled?

Man - adult human male

Women - adult human female

Disabled - (of a person) having a physical or mental condition that limits their movements, senses, or activities.

Spot the difference.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:54

I agree. I just don't agree male people who "identify" as women fall into that.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:55

And yes there will be exceptions. As there could also be for non trans male people.

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 20:57

I agree with Rat on this.

Girls aren't aborted because they have XX chromosomes.

They are aborted because of what certain societies ascribe to females - that they cost money (as dowries) or that they won't work and be able to support the family. Surely they are gender stereotypes placed on girls by society, not a biological fact?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:58

But they don't kill the biys when they identify as girls though do they
And the girls who identify as boys still get killed.

starcrossedseahorse · 14/12/2018 21:00

How do they KNOW that they are girls?

Could it possible be because of their female genitals/chromosomes? So their SEX then?

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 21:01

Have you heard of identifying as disabled

I have, often.

I have a medical condition that is considered a disability.

I am often asked, on forms and things, if I identify as being disabled. My answer is "no". I have a disability. I am not disabled. I don't see myself as disabled. I would say I don't identify as disabled.

If you were to see me you would probably see me as being disabled but that isn't how I feel.

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 21:02

I doubt that societies who abort female foetuses are going to be accepting of trans people, on the whole.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 21:03

Hmm. Do you think that tends to apply to male children?

Helmetbymidnight · 14/12/2018 21:05

What is the something?

Ivegotthree · 14/12/2018 21:05

Totally agree OP

Your point being?

Your point being?

Answering your point that they don't kill boys who act like girls. I think that they probably would - not because they were acting like girls but because they weren't acting in the way that they have decided men should act.

They are aborted because of what certain societies ascribe to females - that they cost money (as dowries)

Hmm. Do you think that tends to apply to male children?

I don't think it does apply to male children no. In some societies males are seen as being a source of income whilst girls are seen as being a drain on resources.

That isn't biological fact though is it? Nothing about being female makes us a drain on resources. Any perceived drain is caused by the customs that some societies place on females. Surely that is gender rather than sex?

Talkwhilstyouwalk · 14/12/2018 21:17

I use them interchangeably, so do lots of people....maybe I'm wrong?

Helmetbymidnight · 14/12/2018 21:19

We have a huge number of things we don’t have in common so I’d really love to hear some of those things women have in common with transwomen that they don’t have in common with men.

starcrossedseahorse · 14/12/2018 21:20

Talk yes you are wrong but you are certainly not alone.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 21:24

Have you got some evidence of this?

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 21:25

We have a huge number of things we don’t have in common so I’d really love to hear some of those things women have in common with transwomen that they don’t have in common with men.

Well, what things do all women have in common?

I would think that I have things in common with some women, but not all. Some women I have nothing in common with, other than XX chromosomes, whilst I would have lots in common with some men.

The only thing women may have in common is biology and yet women won't all share the same experience of that biology so how much in common do they have?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 21:29

What they have in common is they can't change sex.

It's really really simple

Men aren't women
Women aren't men.

That's it

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 21:30

Have you got some evidence of this?

Oh do give over.

Where is your evidence for all that you say?

Including that they don't kill boys who act like girls but do kill girls who act like boys. Where is your evidence for that?

None of you ever into discussion about any of this. You simply parrot the same phrases - show me evidence, define woman, define trans woman, define meaningful (new to this thread).

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 21:31

What they have in common is they can't change sex.

Surely that is something that all people have in common? That would be an area in common between men and women, not a difference?
