Many people and organisations use these words interchangerbly. The meaning is always clear. I actually don't give a stuff if others disagree.

OP posts:
JacquesHammer · 14/12/2018 20:04

Sorry, but you do. You call yourself a woman, you tick the woman box on a form, you use facilities marked "women", you identify as a woman. That's what the words mean

I call myself a woman because I am one, it’s not “identifying”. It’s biology.

It’s a fact that I’m a woman.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:05

Are you disputing my identity?
Seriously?

I don't identify as any thing. Besides tired if this shit.

Adult. Human. Female.

Not feelings inside men's heads

Not some porn induced fantasy

Women. Biological.facts

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:05

Ha! You'd have a right laugh if you met me, I'm so far from conforming it's laughable

Have you any knowledge of Meg-John Barker? Not "gender conforming". Non binaries expect everyone else to conform.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:11

I'm quite merry too though Rat. Christmas truce cheers Wine

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:13

Women who tick the box "woman" are just stating a fact though. "Identifying" as a woman is for male people. Why do you think that is?

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:19

I call myself a woman because I am one, it’s not “identifying”.

Um, yeah, that's what it means to identify as something. It isn't some magical phrase that can only be uttered by trans people. Are you a woman? Yes I am. Voila. Identified.

Wine to you too Eresh, Merry Christmas!

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:20

But they are men so it has to he more than just saying "I am one" surely?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:22

The only thing women have in common around the world when we have never met is biology.

So what do men have in common. Words are meaningless. You can say anything. It means nothing unless it's evident in some way

ErrolTheDragon · 14/12/2018 20:26

I don't 'identify' as being a human.
I don't 'identify' as being born in the 1960s, I don't 'identify' as being a woman.

I just am those things, not by choice, not things I can change.

I can choose whether to be feminine

ErrolTheDragon · 14/12/2018 20:27

The verb 'to identify' is not equivalent to the verb 'to be'.

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:30

The only thing women have in common around the world when we have never met is biology.

And sometimes they don't even have that.

There doesn't need to be some single point of commonality you know. I can have qualities A & B, you can have B & C, and someone else can have C & A. And we can be group because the other guys have F & E, E & D and D and C. But tell me if I'm making the big wide world and the whole human race too complicated for you.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:32

We all have a female body. Female biology.

No a b c about it

If men can't hack that tough crap.

We don't stop existing or vaginaring all over the place just because men are triggered by something they never will have or never will be

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:33

The verb 'to identify' is not equivalent to the verb 'to be'.

I didn't say it was. But if I preside wouldn't know what was in your underwear I would rely on you identifying yourself as one thing or another. So if you tell me you're a woman (which several of you have, in not so many words) it's a question of you having identified yourself as such. Because frankly I don't know what you're "being", and even if your were in front of me I could only be so sure.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:33

The only one struggling with something simple is you.

Trying to find some way in that doesn't exist to somehow make out men are women.

They aren't. Never will be

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:34

No idea what you're talking about now Giles. But I'm going to be vaginaing aaallllll night long.

Weetabixandshreddies · 14/12/2018 20:35

Whatever they like. But its completely ridiculous to suggest they are pressured to look like a woman.
Well, what does a woman look like then?

Because if, as you say, men can look like whatever they want and women can look however they want how can you talk about "what men look like and what women look like"?

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:35

When are you going to concede that women have something in common with trans women that they don't have in common with men? And that it isn't because of their biology?

Or are we still trying to detract from that as best we can?

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:36

You know exactly what I mean rat

You can pretend ken are women all you want it wont stop them needing a prostate exam.

And no one's going to not treat an ectopic pregnancy while they confirm someone identity Hmm

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:37

What is that thing?
What links aborted female babies to girls pinned down and genitals sliced to me and then to a transwomen

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:38

to you too Eresh, Merry Christmas!

Merry Christmas, Rat!

starcrossedseahorse · 14/12/2018 20:38

You are really not making any sense. Transwomen are not female. They do not have female bodies. They have male bodies and have this in common with men.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:41

Um, yeah, that's what it means to identify as something. It isn't some magical phrase that can only be uttered by trans people. Are you a woman? Yes I am. Voila. Identified.

As I said "identifying as a woman" isn't an experience a biological female has. We just are. It's what male people say.

Ereshkigal · 14/12/2018 20:44

But if I preside wouldn't know what was in your underwear I would rely on you identifying yourself as one thing or another.

The vast majority of people you know exactly what is in their underwear. So as a class "identifying as a woman" is not a common female experience.

RatRolyPoly · 14/12/2018 20:45

As I said "identifying as a woman" isn't an experience a biological female has. We just are. It's what male people say.

Have you heard of identifying as disabled? It really is something genuine disabled people do. It isn't a phrase only used by non-disabled people. Same as identifying as an immigrant, or as mixed race. Just because you're only familiar with it as a term uttered by trans people doesn't mean it's meaning is attached to your notion of someone claiming to be something they're not.

Gileswithachainsaw · 14/12/2018 20:45

How are babies made.

How do people know which babies to abort

How do people know which babies to drown at birth and dump on a pile of dead babies.

How do men know what people to rape
