Many people and organisations use these words interchangerbly. The meaning is always clear. I actually don't give a stuff if others disagree.

OP posts:
Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:28

Yep. Shall we crowd fund this research?

I'd contribute. Anything that would potentiolaly result in those people who go into schools and organisations and promote the grooming of children. And those rapey YouTubers telling lesbians they are transphobic.

GlitterStick · 13/12/2018 17:29

Could work both ways though - if it turned out there was something else, and gender being linked to your sex, it may weed out any chancers, yes, but what would you do then if for a lot they turned out to be genuine?
Yes, careful what you wish for - your words.

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:29

Result in them being persecuted

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:29

Prosecuted

Stupid auto correct

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:31

If there was any chance it would turn outto be actually physically true then they wouldn't he so afraid of science would they

GlitterStick · 13/12/2018 17:31

Persecuted works too as a lot are.

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:32

No they arent.

They are being given everything they want and it being enshrined in law to pretend our eyes deceive us

They are more privileged than many people. No one else is this bullet proof

Datun · 13/12/2018 17:32

but what would you do then if for a lot they turned out to be genuine?

Genuine what?

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:35

Well exactly datun

Sperm meets egg. Sex is decided. Those cells multiply and then form into different parts of the body including brains.

All stemming from the same source. There's no way a brain can be made up of a completely separate collection of material that determine a different sex to the one created from the moment that egg was fertilised

GlitterStick · 13/12/2018 17:36

Genuine what? Confused
Bowls of custard? Motorbikes? What do you think I meant? Grin
We're talking about transwomen, right?

Gileswithachainsaw · 13/12/2018 17:37

What's a trans woman glitter.what point does it get from.a man into a woman that you deal the cut off point ?

Still waiting for you to define a woman and a transwomen

Flowerpot2005 · 13/12/2018 17:37

Dwelling on this issue more...

You are born either Male or female. If you chooose differently, I've no issue with that. What I object to is being told my thinking isn't P.C or forwarding thinking.

Actually, why should I allow anyone to tell me how to think? Am I telling anyone else how to...no!

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 13/12/2018 17:38

If it did turn out that gender dysphoria was a genetic condition, or even a diagnosable mental health condition akin to body dysmorphia (albeit one focused on body characteristics typical of the physical sex) , that still wouldn't change someone's sex. But could it help with the fight to ensure appropriate support and medical treatment? So 'authentic' trans folx will hopefully have a better chance of getting the health care they need. But perhaps that is unrealistic, given the trans community themselves do not want their condition to be medicalised (condition isn't even the right word, identity would be the preferred term I guess).
So it would certainly be an interesting turn of events.
But it still doesn't mean people change their sex, or are 'born in the wrong body'. (I mean, where the hell is the 'right body'? We literally grow cell by cell as our bodies.)

Datun · 13/12/2018 17:38

Oh I see, glitter you're disagreeing with the Stonewall definition of transwoman, in that some are genuine and some are not. I thought for a minute you were saying they were genuine women.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 13/12/2018 17:45

but what would you do then if for a lot they turned out to be genuine?

Well, Stonewall obviously don't think a lot of them are genuine or they'd be queuing up to debate our side live in air and they wouldn't need such a big umbrella.

Pennydrew142 · 13/12/2018 18:01

Genuine what? Women? That’s impossible.

Genuinely gender dysphoric?
Say I told you so? That still doesn’t mean you can change sex. Gender and sex are not the same. I am also happy and supportive of genuinely gender dysphoric people getting help and support. That doesn’t mean I have to validate the belief they may have that theyre actually the opposite sex to what they were born as.

Ereshkigal · 13/12/2018 18:09

yes, but what would you do then if for a lot they turned out to be genuine?

Do you know what, I'm willing to take the chance.

Ereshkigal · 13/12/2018 18:10

And I mean genuinely gender dysphoric as a recognisable brain signature. Not that they are women.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 13/12/2018 18:18

yup. people being gender dysphoric means that they have an indentifiable mental health condition. having a test for that would make it easier for them to get appropriate treatment.

bring it on I say

but no matter what mental health condition he has, no man belongs in the ladies loos

Raspberry seems to have been shown the door. Another very angry individual who seems to disregard women.

Datun · 13/12/2018 19:31

I'm surprised VerbeenaBeeks isn't on here as I think she'd find a lot of common ground with some of our new posters, especially GlitterSticks.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 13/12/2018 20:21

Maybe she hasn't noticed the thread yet, I'm sure she'll be along.

Ereshkigal · 13/12/2018 20:27

Yes I wondered where she was. She normally jumps in on these threads. Perhaps she's on holiday or something.

NonExistentFox · 14/12/2018 00:50

Are you calling people here who do not believe, based on there being no evidence, that humans can change sex, transphobes? That to believe we do not have gendered brains is transphobic? MN don’t take kindly to name-calling

I'm calling people who are afraid and spreading fear of trans people transphobic, and it's a lot better evidenced on here than, say, autogynephilia, but I'd consider referring to it as "arsenikonenchoronthelukonphobia" to protect your sensibilities.

Still does not mean that humans can change sex

Hence transgenderism.

I'm not fussed about the brain scans either because we have very little concrete evidence for gays either beyond the fact that they keep existing and insisting that it's not a whim or illness and nobody seems to be able to persuade them to stop, yet people have largely relented with the child-protection scaremongering and well-reasoned sodomy dialectics.
