To those whose DP's snore, how do you sleep?

How do you work around the issue and sleep? My lovely DP snores terribly and I'm the lightest sleeper. I'd just like to know how others try and solve the issue if you have it?

Have to say I tried the Bose ones before Christmas and couldn’t get on with them .
Just another noise to replace the snoring ..
The lady in the shop did say not everyone gets on with them though hence the 30 day trial period

Got him to go to the go and he was diagnosed with sleep apnea and now wears an oxygen mask at night and never snores.

Ear plugs. I try to get to sleep before him and on the nights when it is really bad (I never know if he is snoring louder or I am sleeping lighter!) I go in the spare room.
He hates it when I leave but I know he cant help snoring and if i stayed I would probably smother him with the pillows.
I also have misophonia so the repetitive sounds of the snoring do make me a little stabby!

After many years, I actually can’t sleep if he isn’t next to me snoring.

I can't believe how many people just put up with snoring. It's NOT NORMAL to snore, and it can really start to affect your health as you get older! There are strong links to high blood pressure, diabetes and dementia.

My DP used to snore badly. Most people who think snoring products don't work don't realize that there are different products for different causes. There was no point in my DH using nasal strips because the problem was never caused by congestion! It was caused by his throat relaxing too much during sleep!!

I got him a Snoreeze throat spray from Boots and it worked well. But he put on a bit of weight, and his snoring turned into full-blown sleep apnoea. He now uses one of their oral devices and I don't hear a peep all night.

Don't put up with it, mnetters! There's always a solution!

Different room. It’s bliss. No noises and no smells unless they are mine 😂

Grobagsforever · 03/01/2019 18:28

@Japanesejazz - I hear you. My very snorey DH died at 35 :(

MrsMouse03 · 03/01/2019 19:19

We sleep in separate rooms otherwise I get no sleep really. It works for us.

Sausages18 · 03/01/2019 19:21

A combination of ear plugs, white noise, separate room and / or sleeping pills, depending how bad it is and how sensitive I am at that time.

fretnot · 03/01/2019 19:24

Separate rooms here too. It’s a shame, as there is a loss of intimacy in no longer falling asleep & waking together... But, the bliss of undisturbed sleep! Earplugs work, but start to hurt my ears after a couple of days.

Christian77 · 03/01/2019 19:24

Simples: separate rooms!!

He has agreed to ask his Dr for a sleep study.
