ive been with my OH for 5 years. its his work xmas party soon he said im invited. I asked when it was the other day he said oh its the 20th but your not invited. He went on to say its because there are 40 people going and its in an outside shed so there isnt enough room for you. I feel so disappointed i know im being silly but its really upset me. It feels like i was invited but now im not.

It's a bit rubbish but maybe he misunderstood and there was a mix up with the numbers. Probably wouldn't be much fun anyway, go out with your friends instead

marcusgirl · 04/12/2018 12:17

Im going too but hes not happy about me going out on my own lol

SpamChaudFroid · 04/12/2018 12:19

He's not happy about you going out on your own? Why's that then?

WhatToDoAboutWailmerGoneRogue · 04/12/2018 12:27

It’s probably a case of “this is the Xmas do and partners are invited”, then a little time later, “oh shit, the venue won’t hold partners as well so it’s employees only”.

No big deal.

LagunaBubbles · 04/12/2018 12:30

Right so he's going out without you (nothing wrong with that obviously) yet he's not happy at you going out without him? What's all that about?

Conventicle · 04/12/2018 12:32

hes not happy about me going out on my own lol

What's there to 'lol' about in a partner who is so controlling and possessive he doesn't like you going out with your friends?

Conventicle · 04/12/2018 12:33

Also, call me fussy, but a work Christmas party taking place in an 'outside shed' isn't something I'd be actively unhappy about missing out on.

JudasPrudy · 04/12/2018 12:34

I'd be more worried that he appears to be judging you by his own standards.

SnuggyBuggy · 04/12/2018 12:34

I bet you'll have the better time

charlyn · 04/12/2018 12:35

Why does he not want you going out without him?

NotANotMan · 04/12/2018 12:37

Why the lol? You know that's really not funny, right?

olivertwistwantsmore · 04/12/2018 12:52

Im going too but hes not happy about me going out on my own lol

Another one saying, this is not normal.
It's really not funny.
It's not acceptable.
Why's he not happy about you going out on your own?
Is he controlling in other areas of your life??

Mookatron · 04/12/2018 12:56

I was uninvited from my H's work do (I think all partners were Hmm) and I cried with joy! Well, I didn't cry, but I was delighted I didn't have to go.

Just read, however, he doesn't like you going out on your own... what???!

BitOutOfPractice · 04/12/2018 13:00

In a shed? I reckon you're better off not going. Sounds crap.

Why doesn't he want tut going out?

marcusgirl · 04/12/2018 13:13

He says he doesnt like it if he isnt there

OP posts:
marcusgirl · 04/12/2018 13:14

Yes unless hes there

OP posts:
Heismyopendoor · 04/12/2018 13:17

Well that’s unacceptable for him to control you like that. Is he controlling in other aspects of your relationship?

Ghanagirl · 04/12/2018 13:17

And you’re okay with that?

Conventicle · 04/12/2018 13:19

He says he doesnt like it if he isnt there

And that doesn't strike you as a far bigger issue than whether or not you're invited to his work do in a shed?

KandoKat · 04/12/2018 13:19

So he can go out by himself but you can 't Hmm

empmalswa · 04/12/2018 13:19

Ok there are 2 problems in your OP.

  1. Why are you 'so disappointed' because partners are not going to a night out? It's really common for that to be the way?
  1. Why is he not happy you are going out?
3WildOnes · 04/12/2018 13:19

The Christmas party is a bit of a non issue. Him not liking you going out without him should be a missive issue. I would honestly dump him and not look back.

Oliversmumsarmy · 04/12/2018 13:20

I bet it’s not in a shed

ilovesooty · 04/12/2018 13:20

No it isn't funny.
You accept that? Really?

Autumnsunrise · 04/12/2018 13:21

LTB please.
