How often do u shower/bath

Bigonesmallone3 · 03/12/2018 14:49

My DP showers everyday, I aim to shower/bath everyday but being a pregnant, working mum of two I skip the odd day through bloody exhaustion..
I was inspired by another thread about how often people wash there hair and it got me thinking..
So how often do u wash?..

I shower every night and then most mornings. I don’t understand how those people who are so militant about showering in the mornings and would find it ‘minging’ not to manage to go to bed without showering.
If I’m out on public transport, around people etc then the idea of going to bed dirty is repulsive to me. I can handle not showering in the morning. Unless it’s hot then I wake up pretty clean. A morning shower is just for a refresh!

ShadyLady53 · 03/12/2018 23:04

Every day. Sometimes a shower in the morning and a bath in the evening if I’m struggling with pain or fluid retention.

IdblowJonSnow · 03/12/2018 23:06

Every morning I shower and I wash my hair every other day. Occasionally I might miss a shower if I'm not working. I'm too smelly to get away with it usually tho but some people just don't smell very much!

PickAChew · 03/12/2018 23:06

Shower most days, but every other day for hair, unless sweaty or hormonal.

PickAChew · 03/12/2018 23:08

think this is perhaps determined by what habits we grew up with.

I grew up in the 70s with no central heating and immersion heaters so definitely bathe a lot more than then.

Bath9000 · 03/12/2018 23:11

Shower every day, wash hair every other day. In high summer it’ll be twice a day, morning and night.

FourFuxxakes · 03/12/2018 23:18

Every other day or even every 3rd day. Same with the dc.

DishranawaywiththeSpoon · 03/12/2018 23:22

I shower every day, occasionally miss a day, normally a Sunday. Wash my hair on every 3 days

I don't know how people shower twice a day or wash their hair everyday, that's so much time in the shower. And so much effort.

I don't think if you miss a day of showering you smell necessarily, it's more just a slight offness people get. DP can sometimes do a no shower Sunday and he doesnt smell bad or anything, its not unpleasant but hes definitely not clean. It's just like a mustiness. I think when I don't shower again I get a mustiness to me.

Theperfectchangeling · 04/12/2018 00:05

I5 times a day, followed by 2 evening zoflora/thin bleach baths. I boil wash my towels 3 times after each shower use too.

The kids get hosed down after school each day before entering the house, then they must shower again, a minimum of 17.5 times before dinner.

Do we win at competitive bathing? Hmm

Theperfectchangeling · 04/12/2018 00:07

The good news is, our skin is now so shiny (like highly polished marble) we physically repel all forms of dirt/microbial matter.

Ubertasha2

Why would you admit on here that you don’t own/use a deodorant??
Even if, like you say, you don’t smoke or go to the gym, that doesn’t mean your underarms don’t get sweaty. I couldn’t imagine not using deodorant every day.

Ilovemypantry · 04/12/2018 00:50

anniehm

Just a hat? 🙄

Klobuchar · 04/12/2018 00:54

Some people don’t need deodorant every day (I’m not one of them, I hasten to add). Showering daily and wearing clean clothes every day is enough for some

Grin

Shower every 2nd or 3rd day. I couldn't wash my hair everyday. My hair looks great for 3 days, then needs a wash.

Also don't own a deodorant.

I don't smell bad.

QwertyLou · 04/12/2018 03:03

@theperfectchangeling

Grin yes but do you bleach-clean your toilet a minimum of 7 times a day??

Every second or third day for me. Sometimes more on weekends or holidays, or if I’m travelling for work and DC stays with my parents!

selepele · 04/12/2018 03:32

everyday, usually have a shower in evening and morning i wash my lady parts again and spray.

If course brush and wash my face morning and night.

needtogetagrip · 04/12/2018 03:36

I shower at least two times a day. In summer usually 3.

OliveSeaTurtle · 04/12/2018 03:37

DP showers twice a day, I bath every other day. Even if I'm not busy, I stick to my every other day routine... not ashamed either Wink

Grapetree · 04/12/2018 04:05

I have bad eczema so shower every other day. I know soap is popular here, but my dermatologist told me to never use it as it’s very harsh on the skin (guessing if you have healthy skin it’s finethough)

TheGoogleMum · 04/12/2018 04:26

Probably 3 times a week. It depends how dirty I feel though in the heat wave it was at least once a day washes (and daily on holiday usually!). If i exercised i would shower also but i haven't done that in a while. It's not good for hair to wash daily my hairdresser friend tells me and mine doesn't go greasy overnight so I do leave it 3 days roughly. DH washes a similar amount to me and I would tell him if he smells! 2 days without a wash is generally fine.

KonaMum · 04/12/2018 04:35

On average every day but I skip some days and end up having more than one shower other days. Depends what I’m doing and what the baby needs. For example I might have a quick rinse when I get in from a run so I don’t feel gross but save washing my hair until later in order to feed DS quicker, or I might have a shower when I get up because I’m covered in milk and sick but still need to shower after a training session later. Other days if I’m not training (but do most days) and I feel relatively clean, I might not bother. No one died from not being showered every day.

The4thSandersonSister · 04/12/2018 04:43

Shower every morning, and additional shower as needed. Hair washed as required.

Working in the garden = muddy/sweaty depending on season.
Working out/running = If I haven't built up a sweat I'm not working hard enough.
Getting caught in the rain and soaked to the skin = hot shower to warm me up.
Going out for dinner = change clothes, shower.
Wanting to unwind with a podcast, facemask, glass of wine or if my back is playing up with Epsom salts a relaxing bath is sometimes the ticket.

So a good mix of primarily hygiene, convenience, ritual and relaxation.

BatsAreCool · 04/12/2018 05:11

Shower every morning and every night. Wash hair maybe 3-4 tines a week.

Occasionally have a bath if I just want a link relaxing soak.

BatsAreCool · 04/12/2018 05:11

Link* should have been long

BlackBeltInPresentWrapping · 04/12/2018 05:14

Funnily enough, I was only talking to one of my DCs, (a teen), about this yesterday evening. The norm now seems to be a daily, (or close to that), shower or bath and hair wash for DCs and adults. Yet the norm as recently as the 1960s and 1970s was a bath and hair wash once a week, usually on a Sunday, using soap and a flannel for a good scrub, and shampoo only, not conditioner. DCs were also usually checked for nits every week at the same time. This was supplemented during the week with 'a strip wash' at the sink with soap and flannel, as required. I'm told people didn't smell at that time, and certainly a couple of GP friends link too frequent bathing and product use now with an increase in skin conditions like eczema.

I went through a stage in the past of 1-3 baths or showers and hairwashing a day, (with work, hobbies and social life), but have since decided that less is more for me, and for my DCs too. I think it's also helpful to be clear that a weekly bath or shower and hairwash does not in itself indicate neglect, even in today's squeaky clean times. You have to look at the bigger picture.
