I had the misfortune of watching Naked Attraction and was shocked at the lack of pubes...and how people were berated for having a postage stamp sized amount. The men’s view also seemed to be strange where there was a definite trend for those looking like a plucked turkey.

I dabbled with a Brazilian when I was in my twenties but soon stopped when I realised it was a complete waste of time and money.

I now have a full bush and I love it. I really don’t see the appeal of shaving/waxing to have horrid regrowth and ingrown hairs or to look like a child.

AIBU to think we should all band together and let our lady gardens flourish to turn the tide on this degrading trend?

I am a hairy woman, I don't shave my legs, pits or pubes. (I'm 30, btw.) I shaved my pubes off a few times when I was younger, hated it because I was always left looking like a hedgehog, and I also had the same results with hair removal cream. Nor is there a snowball's chance in Hades I'm ever waxing. I find it amusing that people will judge my personal hygiene to be lacking, despite the fact I'm always in the shower. I like men to have pubes too, my ex shaved it all off once and having sex with him felt awful, it was all prickly and I ended up feeling quite sore afterwards.

At my gym it’s definitely a younger thing. All the under 35s are bald front and back. Most over that trim a bit. It feels fresher under Lycra

RedWineIsFabulous · 03/12/2018 22:04

I can’t stand a big hairy bush. It just feels unhygienic and I don’t feel particularly sexually attractive to my husband with a big hairy muff.
Each to their own but I prefer to keep mine nice and trim at all times.

I can guarantee 100% that EVERY WOMAN who is finger-wagging, and judging, and commenting on other women shaving their pubes, wears make up and jewellery, and wears a bra, or has piercings or tattoos, or dyes their hair........... Anyone who says that they don't. I don't believe you. Not for a second. Typical mumsnet double standards!
This. Totally this. l once had a woman on twitter have a go at me for saying l was putting on makeup to go to work. "You should appreciate yourself as you were made." This from a woman with purple hair, covered in tattoes.
Not that l have a problem with tattooes, l have them myself. But she was criticising me for putting a bit of slap on, when she had technicolour hair and looked like she'd been drawn on by a three year old with a Sharpie.

katseyes7 · 03/12/2018 22:08

l'm a bit bemused as to why wearing thongs is 'misguided'? l don't like big knickers. l get too hot. We're all different!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/12/2018 22:10

Oh yeah AND I just remembered that aside from the whole porno thing.... whenever I have removed my pubes in the past I have had an issue with peeing. In that I t goes off in all directions & I frequently end up with pee all over my clothes. It's like the hair guides it down into the toilet. In a straight line. Neatly and without mess.
Does anyone else find this? Or just me???

SleightOfMind · 03/12/2018 22:12

One of the midwives when I was having the DTs made a very rude comment about my bush.
I already had two DCs, a building-site for a house and worked FT (stopped 3 was before due date)
Also, I was huge. I would have suffocated if I had to lie on my back to be beauticianed, couldn’t see my own flaps and poor old DH had enough on his plate.

Never forgiven that midwife, I mean, really!

SleightOfMind · 03/12/2018 22:13

weeks

JennyRob20 · 03/12/2018 22:15

I agree katseyes
I prefer sexy little cotton thongs every time

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/12/2018 22:16

Hey katseyes well good luck to you and your thongs madam!

My personal experience is that a nice pair of ladies shorts briefs are a hell of a lot more comfy. On account of the lack of a string up your arse Grin

katseyes7 · 03/12/2018 22:17

JennyRob20 l'm 60 and l love Marks' low rise cotton garter thongs. l buy a size bigger than l actually am, and they're so comfy l hardly know l've got them on. l've tried their Brazilian shorts, and l just get far too hot!!

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/12/2018 22:17

Also if you wear cotton knickers you won't get too hot. Or thrush - bonus!

SleightOfMind · 03/12/2018 22:18

The younger women at work are all starting to sport full bush now though. It’s much more trendy apparently 😁
Frankly, any trend that means women aren’t spending their hard earned on something painful, time consuming and vaguely pointless is a win in my book.

katseyes7 · 03/12/2018 22:19

SmiledWithTheRisingSun Thank you! l've tried the 'shorts' ones from Marks, and l just get too hot! Still having hot flushes at 60! l like their little cotton ones. l buy a size bigger than l actually am and l find them very comfy!

katseyes7 · 03/12/2018 22:20

My thongs are cotton! M & S best, and l haven't had thrush for over 30 years, apart from when l had to have antibiotics after my hip replacement two years ago.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/12/2018 22:22

This thread is making me smile Smile

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/12/2018 22:24

So now I'm wondering katseyes if the size bigger thongs don't fall down?

katseyes7 · 03/12/2018 22:28

SmiledWithTheRisingSun No, they never have on me. lt just means l don't feel like l'm sitting on a cheesewire when l sit down!

JennyRob20 · 03/12/2018 22:31

I trim my bum so the string doesn’t rub. I also wear a skirt so no one sees the top when I bend over!

SylvanianFrenemies · 03/12/2018 22:42

I usually have a Brazillian so have been totally suckered into this.

I think it's been the last 15-20 years. When I was first dating it definitely wasn't a ubiquitous thing/expected. There was an episode of SATC about waxing, and I remember reading a linked magazine article (I think in New Woman) about the new trend for "radical bikini waxes". The writer went to New York to get one from an Afghani woman who was not property because she knew how to do it. Now it's everywhere, and it's weird.

WindinTheWillowsLover · 03/12/2018 22:47

Thongs are dreadful. Really unhygienic.

The bit up your bum picks up all the faeces and bacteria left on your bum hole and it can help it migrate to your front bottom and cause infections.

Rattinghat · 03/12/2018 22:49

Midwives who make personal comments should be reported to their Royal College.

WindinTheWillowsLover · 03/12/2018 22:50

I can’t stand a big hairy bush.

Not all pubic hair is like a big bush.

There seems to be a 'thing' amongst the shaven that pubic hair is somehow out of control. Mine is a very neat triangle that needs very little grooming.

I can't- or couldn't- stand- a plucked chicken look, especially with a 6 o clock shadow.
It looks ridiculous on an adult woman who has boobs.

SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 03/12/2018 22:58

I trim my bum so the heir doesn't rub - but don't you then get a stubbly crack?! Confused
