to think that Labour's stance on moped ramming is stupid

The Metropolitan Police have been knocking over moped muggers with their cars, and releasing the footage as a deterrent. It's a fantastic idea which has cut moped crime dramatically.

Predictably, the Shadow Home Secretary has said 'it shouldn't be legal for anyone'.

Why is Labour's instinct always to side with the scumbag criminals over the victims, the police and the decent people?

You can deal with the causes (like the zero exclusion policy etc. etc.) they introduced in Scotland whilst still needing to disarm people actively carrying dangerous weapons with intent to harm (e.g. the lethal combo of mopeds and knives/acid). I'm sure that's still "holistic".

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 22:01

Well I must be reading things differently to you. Wanting tough action against actual crimes as they happen does not mean wanting to tackle the root causes. And again could you please explain why it's wrong to call violent thugs fuckers?

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 22:02

*does not mean NOT wanting to tackle the root causes

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 22:02

jasjas Which posters have argued against dealing with the root cause of crime?

It’s not an either or situation.

BishopBrennansArse · 29/11/2018 22:02

There have been posts on this thread advocating gassing criminals and shooting them in the face, deleted probably because it's extremism.

longfingernails · 29/11/2018 22:03

Aromatherapy might offend the poor blameless mugger; surely we should never insinuate that they migh smell?! Think of the psychological damage - it could be the reason they reoffend.

Reiki, however, might prove worthy of them, provided the requisite diversity assessment is carried out in triplicate.

OP posts:
jasjas1973 · 29/11/2018 22:04

again, thats exactly what i ve argued for immediacy and cause...glad its sinking in lol!
Nicknacky just made fun of the Scottish experience on reducing the murder rate in Scotland, apparently irrelevant.

Calling these people fuckers and cunts, removing of human rights etc dehumanizes them, making cause far harder to advocate, let alone fund.

C0ll4p53 · 29/11/2018 22:04

WOW! I assume most of you don't live in violent areas if you have an issue with the police doing this. It's about the only thing they are doing, at least if you live on a run down council estate in South London, like some of us.

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 22:04

There was one poster who said that. No one else did.

FetchWontHappen · 29/11/2018 22:04

Nicky also SW Scotland here, agree with you! in the last week we've had 2 bad knife incidents, if only they'd seen their photos up in court it would have swayed them.,..

BishopBrennansArse · 29/11/2018 22:04

More than one.

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 22:05

jasjas How did I make fun of your irrelevant post?

I can tell you right now. 99% of my work load is knife related. A article in the paper isn’t going to alter that.

jasjas1973 · 29/11/2018 22:06

Nicknacky, i think you have completely dismissed my argument for causal effect on more than one post!

BenjaminH · 29/11/2018 22:07

Well you have to ask yourself in these circumstances.

Would I rob people using a mopped?

If the answer yes.

You. are a fuck wit and will be knocked of you moped for doing so.

If the answer is no.

Don't worry about it.

Diane Abbots is erm, well nevermind.

But the people that vote for her in the constituency of Hackney North and Stoke Newington. need to have a think next time elections come around.

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 22:07

You think it is wrong to call a murderer a fucker because it might dehumanise them? And people who throw acid in their victims faces, they mustn't be called names either? Can I just check you are being serious? Is 'evil bastard' okay for the moped gang who killed a charity worker for his IPhone or is that a bit too strong?

coppercolouredtop · 29/11/2018 22:07

From one of my fave fb sites....bullshire police Grin
Maybe this would actually be what people would prefer ? Diane Abbott?

"As you know, the do-gooders, liberals and snowflakes within society don't like it when 'Robust Tactics' are used to hopefully prevent feral underclass favela dwelling scum from continuing their lives of crime.

This is why, from today, Bullshire Police will be introducing 'MoPed Crossing Patrols' in strategic locations throughout Bullshire.

Upon hearing the buzz of an approaching MoPed, the 'MoPed Crossing Patrol' will stop all traffic and allow the safe, unhindered passage of the feral vermin atop the stolen MoPed; allowing them to continue their machete wielding war upon law abiding members of Bullshire's public."

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 22:07

No I didn’t. I said that knife crime in Scotland was completely irrelevant when we were discussing moped crime in london.

It’s two different issues.

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 22:09

I love Bullshire Police!! And Uk cop humour.

coppercolouredtop · 29/11/2018 22:12

Me too Nicky....

We've both been here a while but I name change now regularly! You know me tho . X

I suspect the bullshire officer is in my force.....😂. Love it ! And only those in the job get it ....😉😂

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 22:13

It must be so bloody frustrating for the police who are actually going to be the ones putting themselves on the line to see the armchair experts telling them how it should be done. I mean 'why not just chase them down and apprehend them on foot, who cares if they are carrying a knife or a bottle of sulphuric acid, better than dehumanising the poor chaps'.

Sidelook · 29/11/2018 22:14

Roadwars have a lot to answer for. What is roadwars?
The Met have trained drivers by the name of ‘scorpion’ to end the pursuit safely. They also use DNA spray marking dye helping to place riders at the crime scene. The police can also use tyre puncture spikes on the moped. So there are other ways of catching these suspects without physically dismantling them!

superstarburst · 29/11/2018 22:14

If you live in a road or area where these moped muggings have been happening, then you might be pleased, like I am, about the police action. If they're moped muggers they don't give a shit about other people so tough shit if they get knocked off their moped.

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 22:15

Roadwars was a documentary.

Ooh copper do I know you then?

coppercolouredtop · 29/11/2018 22:18

You do Nicky. From here not in rl....I'll pm you when I have 5....

For now I'm up on earlies tomorrow so bed for me! I 💗 5am starts.

Not!

coppercolouredtop · 29/11/2018 22:20

And I'll mind not to knock a mugger off his bike.

Just for the peace of mind if those thinking it's a terrible idea. 😉
