to think that Labour's stance on moped ramming is stupid

The Metropolitan Police have been knocking over moped muggers with their cars, and releasing the footage as a deterrent. It's a fantastic idea which has cut moped crime dramatically.

Predictably, the Shadow Home Secretary has said 'it shouldn't be legal for anyone'.

Why is Labour's instinct always to side with the scumbag criminals over the victims, the police and the decent people?

easyandy101 How come so many of you have had experience with dealing with police ?

I just look the type

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:13

TwistedStitch By a few liberal do gooders on here, just ask them politely to stop, and say never mind if they don’t, there’s always next time

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:13

easyandy101 Always out looking for trouble ?

FissionChips · 29/11/2018 13:15

It won’t affect sentencing if they are injured during a collision

Man sustains serious brain injury due to police knocking him off a moped. Man wakes up from coma and has lost his memory, doesn’t even know his own name and has forgotten how to walk , no memory of his crime etc.

You really think that ^ wouldnt affect sentacing? Hmm

jasjas1973 · 29/11/2018 13:15

Lefty SJWs might be happy with muggers and other criminals being able to operate with impunity, but the general public aren't, that's why this move is being applauded

The general public would support the death penalty, amputation etc

Harsh and cruel sentences do not reduce crime at all, as the USA experience shows.
We ve already sky high prison populations and equally hi re offending rates.
Unless the causes are addressed, then crime will just escalate, regardless of what the sentence are.

btw i lived in these sorts of societies and anyone that can lives behind gated & armed communities, despite extremely harsh sentences, it really doesn't work and ignores decades of research into the criminal mind.

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:16

ChaseOnTheCase It’s seems with the softly, softly approach, London is well on the way already

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 13:17

fission FFS, it was perfectly clear that I was replying to a poster who talked about an offender having a broken leg or similar. Stop trying to be so awkward.

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 13:18

TwistedStitch By a few liberal do gooders on here, just ask them politely to stop

Yep. I'm by no means a blind supporter of the police but this is a tactic that actually appears to be working and keeping the public safer with the only risk being towards those who have chosen to hurt others.

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:18

FissionChips That sounds like a good way of getting them back on right path, if they have forgotten their criminal past

Justanotherlurker · 29/11/2018 13:19

It's because the police are being starved of funding at the same time community groups and other resources used to prevent criminalised behaviour are being decimated too.

Causes of crime are of cause multifaceted, including Government social policies and austerity, trying to political point score on this is a little ignorant of why this tactic is lawful and not a slippery slope of Police randomly taking out 16/17 yr olds on mopeds because they happen to be driving around.

FissionChips · 29/11/2018 13:20

But you said :
It won’t affect sentencing if they are injured during a collision

Hmm
easyandy101 · 29/11/2018 13:20

easyandy101 Always out looking for trouble ?

No I literally am just dodgy looking

I've been stop and searched well in excess of 50 times, started when I was about 14, carried on well into my 30s

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:20

Justanotherlurker It is not randomly is it

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 13:21

Harsh and cruel sentences do not reduce crime at all, as the USA experience shows

This isn't a sentence, it's a harm reduction tactic and it IS reducing crime.

FissionChips · 29/11/2018 13:21

That sounds like a good way of getting them back on right path, if they have forgotten their criminal past

Your ignorance is quite supernatural Hesta.

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:22

easyandy101 You must be dodgy looking or acting very suspicious

KissingInTheRain · 29/11/2018 13:23

That’s a brilliant post. Totally agree.

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 13:23

fission I will clarify my comment as you appear to be struggling badly. A broken bone won’t affect sentencing. Severe brain damage will affect sentencing.

Happy now.

TwistedStitch · 29/11/2018 13:23

I would still like to know what those who oppose this tactic think the police should do to stop a violent offender on a moped who poses an immediate risk to the public.

easyandy101 · 29/11/2018 13:23

Yeah if going on the tube at rush hour is suspicious, or looking a bit Eastern European is dodgy looking you are absolutely correct

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:24

FissionChips And your compassion for the scumbags is terrible, are you or your family involved in this type of activity?

AtlasShrugged · 29/11/2018 13:24

By a few liberal do gooders on here, just ask them politely to stop

Exactly this. If someone mugs you you have to remember it's because they're less privaliged, so you must not only offer them your stuff but take them to the cash point and withdraw as much money for them as possible, even if it takes you overdrawn. Afterwards thank them for their time.

FissionChips · 29/11/2018 13:24

Happy now

Yup Wink

Nicknacky · 29/11/2018 13:25

I just watched a compilation video of offences caught on camera by moped offenders. Holy shit, it was to be tackled and this is just one valid method of doing so.

Hesta54 · 29/11/2018 13:26

TwistedStitch They want come back with anything, the criminals just need a bit of a cuddle or an arm around their shoulder, never mind about the poor victims
