there is a power cut while im having something done and im halfway through it e.g like a hair colour.

im asking because Storm Diana is imminent and i have an appointment booked this week.

Back in Jan there was a power cut the day after a storm on the day of my appointment but at that time they hadnt started my treatment yet.

power cuts round here seem to be getting pretty common now

i dont really want to be sent home to wash the dye out myself if this happens because i have long hair and would end up with dye all over my clothes and coat.

has anyone experienced anything like this?

and Frequency has very kindly answered my question.

And Liketoshop its not the extent of my worries far from it as my posting history would tell you .They are not mutually exclusive.

oh and its not a back street clip joint but there is such a lack of clear regulation around this as many of you are keen to reiterate to any poster who posts about a hair disaster on here.

Blimey, what a bunch of wimps and snowflakes. Do none of you remember the three day week? Grin

Cestquoicebordel · 27/11/2018 18:41

Had to post as surprisingly this isn't as unlikely as you'd think.

Took DS to the barber last week and they had a power cut for third day in a row, most of the high street was affected, including the hairdresser I was due to go to the next day. Fortunately barbers used battery clippers and had purchased some big battery powered lights (it was dark outside ) so DS was fine.

Next morning power was on and it didn't occur to me to ask what the hairdresser would do if the power went off for a third time, sure they'd just have rinsed of colour with cold water and I'd have gone without the blow-dry. Not the end of the world but good to think ahead if haircut is for a special occasion.

ThanksForAllTheFish · 27/11/2018 18:42

You sound like an anxious person if you are worrying about this in advance. I would assume a cold water rinse and sent home with towel dried damp hair. Quite possibly a discount as they haven’t done the full job (if you are paying for a dye/cut/blow dry).

Stop worrying so much as when stuff like that happens people find a work around and it gives you a funny story to look back on.

(Like the time I was stuck in the dentist car park mid root canal treatment with a big chunk of rubber stuff on a frame sticking out my mouth as the fire alarm went off. The fire brigade had to clear the whole building before we could go back in - it took ages and it was raining and it was in a central town location so hundreds of people walked by and seen me with my big green rubber face thing.)

HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 18:44

Fish i hope you wernt in pain i had a root canal when i was 11 and it was hell.

Not a horrible bunch of people at all, the OP's post was purely about hairdressers, the effect a possible power cut and hair dye damage to her clothes and what legal redress she would have against the hairdresser. it was only later that hospitals, etc., came into it.

Grilledaubergines · 27/11/2018 18:48

Legal action? Well I guess if you can afford the court fees, why not. A solicitor would laugh you out so you don’t need to act in person of course.

Oh, and a judge would through the case out on the grounds of abuse of court process.

But yeah, sue. Hmm

Grilledaubergines · 27/11/2018 18:49

Do need to act... not don’t!

HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 18:49

No i wanted to know where i stood legally with the power co. not the hairdresser Its not the hairdressers fault that its been privatized.

OP posts:
Grilledaubergines · 27/11/2018 18:50

Another thing OP. How would you feel morally about causing stress to your hairdresser for an “act of God”? Unless of course her Demi-waves are so legendary it’s them creating the storm.

Grilledaubergines · 27/11/2018 18:51

Cross posted that last bit.

HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 18:51

And Frequency (who actually has experience in the field) told me what i needed to know.

WinterfellWench · 27/11/2018 18:51

Hope you're OK OP. You've had a rough time on here, and I am sure the hairdresser will make good any cock-up that results from a power cut (which may not happen anyway.)

If this makes you feel any better. I went to the hairdressers today, and got a cut, wash, and blow dry, (ready for a meal out for someone's 30th birthday tonight,) and I got caught in a massive windy rain storm on the way back to the car. Looked like a drowned rat I did. Waste of money (having the blow dry too!) and I looked like shit.

Spent an hour trying to make it look OK again for tonight. Can't get it quite right, and I only have an hour til my taxi. Sad

Grilledaubergines · 27/11/2018 18:51

I again OP, can you afford to do it?

Nicknacky · 27/11/2018 18:52

Op, honestly worry about where you stand legally if and when it happens.

HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 18:52

i would not be appraoching the hairdreser i would be approaching the power co. Dont you think its strange that many of them cant seem to cope with a normal winter now.

OP posts:
HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 18:57

please show me in my OP where i said i would blame the hairdresser for it.

OP posts:
RedDogsBeg · 27/11/2018 18:59

Show us where in your thread title and opening post you were blaming the power company and wanted legal redress from them.

HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 19:00

Winterfell Hope you have a great night out despite that.

OP posts:
HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 19:01

From my OP..

power cuts round here seem to be getting pretty common now

OP posts:
RedDogsBeg · 27/11/2018 19:13

You are relying on that one throwaway statement to alter the thrust of the rest of your opening post?

HelenaDove · 27/11/2018 19:14

yes because that is what i meant Wine o clock is it?
