I HAVE A BABY YOU KNOW!

Now, possibly we’ve all been there...

But AIBU to think that this woman yelling this at me on a station platform was just ridiculous and was IBU to laugh and say ‘that’s nice’.

Picture the scene, last week, crowded tube platform, rush hour, everyone trying to get home. Huge delays, a tube hasn’t been for about twelve minutes. Everyone is getting increasingly pissed off.

Woman with a small child in a buggy is getting pretty irate, sighing dramatically, muttering obscenities etc. She then pushes that ‘information’ button on the platform and when it gets picked up demands to know when the next train is coming (the board is already displaying 10 minutes)

Operator tells her ten minutes. She tells him that is disgusting, she’s got a child, they ought to be sending taxis Hmm operator clicks off.

She loses her shit, and screeches I ‘JUST WANT TO GET HOME!!’

I said, ‘yes, I’m pretty sure we all want that’ because she’s irritating me and the platform is chockablock so I cant move away.

She then yells ‘ I HAVE A BABY!!’

I sort of laughed incredulously and said ‘yes, that’s nice’

, I NEED TO GET HOME NOW! THIS IS NOT FAIR ON MY CHILD, I SHOULDNT HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS!!’

Child (looked about a year or so so not a baby baby) sat impassively in buggy for the duration.

She didn’t get her taxi, but (rightly so) everyone moved aside when the train finally came so she did get on with the buggy. Lots of people didn’t and had to just wait for the next one.

She kept up with the dramatic sighing the entire way back though.

The woman sounded like a bellend. And if she hadn’t had the baby, she’d still have been causing a scene. Some people are twats. It’s the responsibility of the rest of us to diminish them, publically, in order that they are less twattish in future

EwItsAHooman · 22/11/2018 20:07

But then whose job is it to publicly diminish the twats doing that?

MamaLovesMango · 22/11/2018 20:14

Oh Eliza you really are talking complete nonsense now but I guess we can’t all be perfect specimens like you can we? I hope it’s documented somewhere that when you die, they’ll have you in a museum somewhere so that we can remind ourselves that you are one of the pollocks pillars that society should be built on.

EwItsAHooman · 22/11/2018 20:25

We should all be so worthy.

FontSnob · 22/11/2018 22:11

Yes sometimes people can be dicks, sometimes it’s becuase they’re having a shitty day or life and sometimes it’s because they are dicks everyday. Eliza, you’re not exactly coming across in the best light yourself but you know what, it’s only a snapshot of who you are so I’ll refrain from judging you.

'Well it's not stupid, you are saying that the woman was entitled to shout at the op because the op commented. In that case, the op is entitled to give her a smack in the mouth for shouting at her.'

What is wrong with you Confused

OMG that made me laugh way more than it should have. Actual tears and everything. Didn't ruin my eyeliner though so all good.

Not caught up with the thread but last few posts seem to indicate that if you see a woman with a young child losing the plot (and shouting on a tube platform is definitely not normal behaviour so it's possible they are struggling) you should:

Poster 1: " diminish them, publically"
Poster 2: " give her a smack in the mouth"

WTF is wrong with people.
Loads of women on here saying they struggled when they had little kids. It's hardly uncommon - 4 in 10 have mental health issues around pregnancy and birth, I think. Even without that, exhaustion, adjusting, lots of things mean that often women with young kids are vulnerable. And here we have other women, WOMEN FFS, advocating taking them to task in public by "publically diminishing" them (ie saying things to them that make them feel bad, reduce their self worth, make them feel like they are worth nothing) or hitting them in front of their kids.

Some women on here are really gettign off on the idea of lambasting other women publically - it's really grim reading.

I will say again that most people are NOT like this, thank christ.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 23/11/2018 10:15

I very much doubt ANY of these "hit her, shout at her, diminish her" people would do that to a man who was shouting on the platform.

Women with little kids are a safe target though, aren;t they.

Eliza9917 · 23/11/2018 11:08

The woman the OP is about seemed to think everyone was an easy target. But that's ok because she's got kids Hmm It is not ok to walk around being abusive to people because you've had a bad day or got kids.

I wasn't advocating smacking her in the mouth, but by EwItsAHooman's reasoning, it was ok to for her to shout at the op because the op made a sarcastic comment. If that reasoning holds up, then its ok for the op to smack her in the mouth for shouting at her (according to EwItsAHooman).

RoboticSealpup · 23/11/2018 11:21

Cut her some slack, she was probably having a really awful day.

Eliza9917 · 23/11/2018 11:31

That still doesn't make it ok to go around shouting at people.
