Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

Watching my bump when baby starts rocking all over the place. It's like that bit in Aliens when Ripley has a nightmare that she has a chestburster.

craftymum01 · 15/11/2018 22:10

Drain hair

Petalflowers · 15/11/2018 22:10

Fish on fish counters which still have their eyes

bananafish81 · 15/11/2018 22:11

Oh god wobbly teeth

My stress dream is the teeth falling out dream

Where my teeth are wobbly and fall out when I touch them with my tongue.

I'm always so relieved when I wake up and check they're all there.

Except once where I had an inception style dream within a dream. Where I woke up from the dream and my teeth WEREN'T there. FUCK.

I was both relieved and freaked out when I really DID wake up after that one! (Complete with full set of teeth)

yolofish · 15/11/2018 22:11

eyes, or more specifically, people who can touch their eyeballs/eye surgery/etc.

newrubylane · 15/11/2018 22:11

@Isshebeingserious were you listening in on my conversation in the pub re. the phone calendars? (To be fair, my friend's objections to phone calendars were more practical than willies-related, but still, that's spooky!)

Onceicaughtafish · 15/11/2018 22:12

Another vote for cotton wool. also loose teeth. And can I throw hobey bees out there too. Bumble bees are fine, but honey bees..

Lurleene · 15/11/2018 22:12

Probably the same sensation as the cotton wool - I can't wear wool gloves as the thought makes my teeth tingle in a bad way. I remember touching the edge of a shopcounter whilst wearing gloves and it makes my mouth all funny. This was nearly 40 years ago!

AdaColeman · 15/11/2018 22:12

Black ostrich feathers.

Seeing bacteria on the TV = when they show a petrie dish or something and all the bacteria start to multiply - makes me feel ill.

CoraPirbright · 15/11/2018 22:13

When you get water on the cuff of your sleeve - urrgh!

When you have a rough bit of toe nail which snags on the duvet cover - double urrrgh!

peonysandhotcrossbuns · 15/11/2018 22:14

The row now I grew up in (and left age 17)

ANiceLentilHotpot · 15/11/2018 22:15

Does anyone ever get that feeling when you’re about to drop off to sleep and it feels like you’re shrinking/the rooms getting bigger?

Me and DS both get this. I don't get it very often any more but when I do I like it as it reminds me of being a child.

Dark water gives me the willies though.

peonysandhotcrossbuns · 15/11/2018 22:15

I'll try again.
The town I grew up in (and left when I was 17)

AgentCooper · 15/11/2018 22:15

Definitely deep water. The ocean. Octopuses. Those bottom feeding creatures.

The Mariana Trench. Oh God I don't want to think about the Mariana Trench.

elfycat · 15/11/2018 22:15

The top surface of open water.

I scuba dive (once I got past the general fear of wild water and got under it) and I'm happy underwater when I can look around. But when you surface and wait to get out....

Got caught in a current once in open water in the Red Sea (no danger) and drifted a little. It meant we were the last ones collected by the boat and I had to stare at the top of the water for about 15 mins while the boat drove round picking us all up. I hated thinking of what was under me and I couldn't see. If I'd have been allowed to duck back under a foot I'd have been fine.

Lulette · 15/11/2018 22:15

Yes to drain hair!

Also loo brush holders which accumulate water at the bottom and... just ewww

Bombaybunty · 15/11/2018 22:16

Monkeys. Nasty little monkey fingers.

SpeckledyHen · 15/11/2018 22:16

Piercings especially on eye brows.

chickenloverwoman · 15/11/2018 22:17

The smell of kidneys frying.
Someone picking their nails
Very high/deep stuff the to y glimpse I got of watching that guy jump off the ultra high balloon and freefall omg gave me nightmares for days. And I turned it off after a nanosecond!

Bombaybunty · 15/11/2018 22:17

And wooden ice Lolly sticks touching my teeth. Or wooden spoons.

Isshebeingserious · 15/11/2018 22:17

lulette

What about the water that accumulates in tooth brush holders?

OP posts:
SirVixofVixHall · 15/11/2018 22:18

Ugggh yes, cotton wool. The dryness of it is wrong. The thought of biting it *shudder
The underside of ships. Piers. The water swirling around things like bridges. Deep dark water.
The feel of cobwebs. Robots. Pushing cuticles.

Shirleyphallus · 15/11/2018 22:18

For anyone else who gets the big space / little falling asleep thing there is a whole Reddit of people discussing it, I had no idea others got this
