Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

Glad I clicked on this thread, I now know I'm not alone with my dislike of close together holes (why oh why did I Google trypohobia despite the warning??) and that I have Alice in Wonderland syndrome Shock

Adults insisting to other adults that Santa is real.

Songs of Praise. When they're swaying or clapping and have that manic expression on their faces it creeps me out. All this for someone who doesn't exist.

Looking into my living room from outside at night. It makes me feel like a ghost.(I don't believe in ghosts either though.)

Huge objects and huge taxidermy specimens.

Large bodies of water. I keep expecting something huge to leap out.

TheEfficientBaxter · 18/11/2018 19:57

Oh, come off it, do.

I love willies, although I have never used that word for them!

And so do most of you, if you'll be honest. This is Mumsnet after all Wink

Being near tall industrial buildings
Man-made things under the sea- see photos - make me shudder
Caves or potholes
Wide staircases with glass or spindled sides.

Teeth biting my leg; anything chalky (this includes smooth stone surfaces and cornflour; gums; insect eggs or legs; puddles with gunk in them...

That's just the start!

unicornfarts · 18/11/2018 20:19

Things that are the ‘wrong’ shape e.g. two headed snakes. Saw a picture of a ‘double-ended’ toothpaste tube once (it had a nozzle at each end)-man that still freaks me out. And there was a scene in a cartoon once were the a dog is chased into a drainpipe and then comes out with a reeeeeally long body 😳 ~shudder~

TheSubtleKnifeAndFork · 18/11/2018 20:29

Wind socks, deep water, cruise ships/large mobile structures, pylons, tall isolated objects, big clouds, black holes...

wanderings · 18/11/2018 20:35

Seeing trainer socks half in and half out of shoes - every kind of wrong. My shoes are worn with socks which cover the whole ankle, or no socks at all.

As a kid I didn't like seeing anyone with their eyes covered - I hated watching everyone playing pin the tail, but I didn't mind when it was my turn, because then I couldn't see the others!

wanderings · 18/11/2018 20:42

Also Santa Claus with glasses.

Seeing pictures of anyone in traditional striped pyjamas, and tartan slippers. But I'm fine with more modern versions of both.

People on stilts
People dressed up as animals

I just googled Trypophobia. WTAF?? I’m not bothered at all by most of the images so thought I’d be fine but fucking hell. I need to go to sleep now but scared I’ll have nightmares!

blueangel1 · 19/11/2018 20:31

I find the trypophobia stuff weirdly fascinating.

Pit head gear. By that I mean that giant pully and wheel contraption at the top of the pit. Makes me shudder. I always think about all the terrible accidents and deaths that have happened deep underground.

Scoleah · 05/12/2018 11:47

Very Small spaces eg Cave diving and they crawl through tiny Gaps😖
