Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

Converted churches or shops made into houses.

I once viewed a house that used to be a shop but still had the big front window.

I had nightmares for months afterwards!

When I touch cotton wool it I get a horrible feeling in my teeth. It's a similar reaction to nails down a chalkboard.

Eminybob · 15/11/2018 21:52

Giant statues, or more specifically, remains of giant statues. Like in the series Lost
there was just a huge foot left of a massive statue. Stuff like that. Or I saw a picture once of the Statue of Liberty’s foot in a park in New York when it was in its way to being assembled. Freaked me right out.

And abandoned places, especially theme parks and hotels. I stayed in a hotel in Lanzarote once that used to be 2 hotels but had merged into one. The lobby of the old part was still there, including front desks and stuff but wasn’t used, and it was eerily quite even though the rest of the hotel was still in use. It gave me the hebee jebees walking though that part.

Edges. Edges of cliffs or harbour walls or any high edges really - although I have no particular fear of heights. Just edges.

Hard boiled eggs, eg Scotch eggs, cut in half so they resemble eyeballs.
Someone eating a peeled hard boiled egg like it's an apple.
Pictures of runny poached eggs.
Nigella Lawson cracking an egg into a curry.

I love eggs, fried, scrambled, baked, omelette, soft boiled and even hardboiled ones mashed up in a sandwich with a bit of mayonnaise. I just can't stand looking at them.

The rough side of terracotta. If anything scrapes against it I feel sick. I can't even touch it. I can touch the smooth side though.

MitchAPalooza · 15/11/2018 21:52

Ice in the freezer, particularly if boxes etc scrape against it. The sound and the way it makes my teeth feel. Gah.

HalfBloodPrincess · 15/11/2018 21:53

The last half inch of coffee in the cup. Can’t ever drink it.

Gauze in your mouth

Does anyone ever get that feeling when you’re about to drop off to sleep and it feels like you’re shrinking/the rooms getting bigger?

BigBairyHollocks · 15/11/2018 21:53

Cotton wool for me too, especially when wet.Plus suits of armour and quick sand.

Sugarhunnyicedtea · 15/11/2018 21:53

I can't stand anything touching the tendons (I think that's what they are - I don't like to think too much about them) in my neck, or wrists or at the back of my foot. Actually makes me gag, which my son finds hysterical.

bunintheoven88 · 15/11/2018 21:53

Cross post @Motherofchickens1
My friend has it too, her boyfriend used to randomly send me and er holey photos 🤢

My dad hates bellybuttons too, we used to try and gross him out when we were kids, he would go white at the sight of one 😬

Touching a crumb/piece of food in washing up bowl whilst not wearing gloves!

SpamChaudFroid · 15/11/2018 21:55

Chewing wool, the squeakier the better. I know I'll hate it, but I become compelled to do it.
Tan coloured tights.
Men in awful shoes.

Gah, the back to front teeth thing! That makes me want to die!

CurbsideProphet · 15/11/2018 21:55

@LtGreggs I didn't understand what you meant, so I tried it out and I know what you mean now Shock

Isshebeingserious · 15/11/2018 21:56

Also sometimes gives me the willies to drive past peoples houses at night when it’s dark outside and they have their lights on and wonder at all the different lives they lead

Yes, that ^

Shudder.

cablewable · 15/11/2018 21:56

People who eat something from a cocktail stick and it goes through their teeth 🤮

AnyFarrahFowler · 15/11/2018 21:57

Apes / monkeys / chimps.
Way too human-like.

Novasglow · 15/11/2018 21:57

Penguins. And what I call "the weirdness"... when you wake up and everything feels odd, every stranger seems to be staring at you, nothing feels right all day, can only be reset when you've had a decent sleep.

MilkItTilITurnItIntoCheese · 15/11/2018 21:58

Children showing you their wobbly teeth! Especially the ones hanging my a thread.

Puffinhead · 15/11/2018 21:58

Maps. The satellite ones you get in atlases. And the Fens!

hippoherostandinghere · 15/11/2018 21:59

Ice scraping. Sends shivers down my spine thinking about it. You know if you put something in the freezer and it rubs up against the ice on the side and that noise, that gives my the Willy's. Also people biting ice lollies. Just no 😩

MaMisled · 15/11/2018 21:59

People who say "an she turnt around and said....."
