Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

Venus Flowers

I've always had it, but my early childhood was quite violent, so maybe that is why. Or maybe it is just a quirk.

Just reminded of another one- this really IS a quirk- balloons bursting. Anyone who bursts a balloon near me will get a pretty extreme reaction

I have trypophobiaConfusedeven typing the word🤦🏻‍♀️ yup... DO NOT GOOGLE... blocked loos - not because they need sorting, but when the water rises up (i have frequent nightmares about it rising over the too😖) Ooooh this thread is giving me palpitations😬😬😬

chemenger · 16/11/2018 00:10

I was fine until someone mentioned potholing. I can’t imagine why anyone would squeeze through narrow caves. Add water to that as in cave diving and multiply the horror by infinity. I don’t like swimming in the sea, but that is rational because I don’t want to drown and I don’t believe I float.
People below a certain age will have no idea what this is but toenails and nylon sheets.

The dark. Silly I know but as soon as it goes dark logic goes out the window and I feel uneasy.

BarrowLass · 16/11/2018 00:14

athena51 - yes!! The daft skip getting off escalators - am convinced that even though im quite "solid" - somehow my whole body will slide underneath 😂😂 and don't get me* started on revolving doors*🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

jacketpotatobeansandcheese · 16/11/2018 00:18

Limp handshakes- they make me physically shudder!

LostontheWestway · 16/11/2018 00:19

I once saw my name on a headstone in a graveyard. It really freaked me out to the point where I had to check the dates to make sure I hadn't accidentally time travelled (the obvious explanation over it just being someone with the same name!)

TuMeke · 16/11/2018 00:26

I’m another one with trypophobia. Clusters of tiny holes are just vile and make me feel so weird and horrible.

Another thing for me is standing on a platform when a fast train goes past. I cannot cope with that at all - I feel like I literally lose my mind whilst it’s rushing past and there’s the noise and the whoosh of the air; I can’t bear it!! 😱

llangennith · 16/11/2018 00:27

UpstartCrow
When I was pregnant with DS I had a pain which I told GP felt like my ribs were pushing under each other. He told me they probably were and it was common with a big baby (he was 10lb at birth, a few days later). Ribs can definitely cross!

Babyiwantabump · 16/11/2018 00:31

Wet bread

Uiiurggghjhhh (shudder)

QuestionableMouse · 16/11/2018 00:37

@Novasglow I'm so glad I'm not the only one who gets that! It ruins your whole day!

A580Hojas · 16/11/2018 00:45

Walking alone in the countryside. Driving for miles and not seeing another person. Those big empty states in mid west America would be my idea of hell.

Menarefrommarsitwouldseem · 16/11/2018 00:58

I have loads.

Teeth grinding
Finger cracking
Heights. I also nearly had a breakdown in Warwick castle, had to literally crawl from the up staircase across to the one to go down. Horrendous.

Stairs with gaps.
Rats

Work related
Dislocated fingers or toes.
Finger cuts which have gone through the nail
Knee surgeries
Foot ulcers heave

Cautionsharpblade · 16/11/2018 01:08

Being the only person in a swimming pool (in case a shark gets in and has nobody to choose except me)

The sound of people brushing their teeth. UNBEARABLE. I have to plug my ears.

The spindly legs on a newborn baby. Remind me of an alien.

payperview · 16/11/2018 01:23

Space
Escalators
Sink holes
Deep sea
Public transport

TooManyPaws · 16/11/2018 01:41

Googled trypophobia - gosh, that was interesting!

Only thing that gives me the heebiejeebies is sticking up things that I might fall on or "put my eye out with" - careless umbrella users should be fined. 😂

TooManyPaws · 16/11/2018 01:53

I'm beginning to feel a bit weird as just about everything on this thread makes me go 🤔. Only the one thing as above and that's probably down to too many childhood warnings. As children, we used to swim off the side of ships 😁. I do have a fear of heights but that isn't particularly heebiejeebie weird - I hated jumping from height when doing liferaft drills.

SuperLambBananas · 16/11/2018 01:53

I think I have trypophilia? is that a thing, little clusters of small holes make my ears twitch but it's kind of delicious, especially if inside the holes is smooth, and some of the little holes have something in them, like seeds.

I once sat behind a bald man with neck rolls which made his pores perfect deep holes, I imagined gently sticking a blunt pin in, without touching the sides or the bottom. Couldn't look away.

thighofrelief · 16/11/2018 02:01

Quite a lot!

Birds, evil.
Feathers, product of above.
Eggs, ditto (just did a little gag).
Enclosed spaces, need to escape.
Large supermarkets, scared of mind control muzak sucking me in.
Reptiles, especially frogs, shudder slimy skin.
Anyone picking at themselves - ugh Bleurgh.
Obviously deep water - just sensible surely.
I gag very easily and just thinking about some things can make me Vom.

Streambeam · 16/11/2018 02:03

Sheer drops. And driving / walking up steep hills/ mountainsides with wide open views behind. I feel like the floor will tilt and I’m going to drop into the void
