Inspired by another thread, what are things that give you the willies?

My biggest one is houseboats.

desperately hoping other people get the willies too

Tomatoes on shop bought sarnies, they smell like rubbish dumps and make the bread wet. Fine if it's freshly made and eaten though.

Spiders, was bitten last week by a false widow and thought I was going to die.

Stone spiral staircases especially in castles had a panic attack on a visit to Warwick castle. Had a really clear image of being pushed and dying on one. Convinced me I had a past life flashback.

Earwigs, as a child I used to keep my ventolin inhaler on the windowsill next to my bed. Once I had an earwig inside. Fucking traumatic breathing in the bastard.

Open deep water.

StableGenius · 15/11/2018 23:42

Tiled lobbies that smell of disinfectant with steel-doored lifts.

xotyl · 15/11/2018 23:43

Oh and public jacuzzis, once got someone's scab on my chest.

Thurmanmurman · 15/11/2018 23:46

Scarecrows. I hate them and used to cry at worzel gummage as a child. Also people walking on stilts 😫

xotyl · 15/11/2018 23:47

And one more, the word Lurpak it just doesn't sound like butter. Don't want to eat it.

ShadyLady53 · 15/11/2018 23:48

Oh God some I forgot - mice, rats, gerbils (fucking GERBILS) - their tails ffs and their horrible twitchiness ugh ugh ugh!

Ventriloquist dummies. I had a dream as a small child that the Thunderbirds had tied me up and were sending me down a river in the middle of an African jungle on a kayak where they were going to eventually cook me over an open fire and eat me. I can’t see thunderbirds or ventriloquist dummies on TV without losing it. The money supermarket advert with Action Man whipping his pants off even gives me the willies.

VenusClapTrap · 15/11/2018 23:49

Willies, actually. They are horrific. I try not to think about them in too much detail.

StoppinBy · 15/11/2018 23:50

I don't know why but I cannot stand it when people click their fingers, even thinking about it right now makes my skin crawl.

Teddy1970 · 15/11/2018 23:52

Empty swimming pools, especially the deep end...they really give me the shivers, I can find no logical explanation for this fear!

LostontheWestway · 15/11/2018 23:52

Dried lotus pods. Anything with loads of holes. Just typing this was freaking me out.

Licking wooden lolly sticks

Lifts (god stuck in one once and always worry it'll happen again)

Moononthehill28 · 15/11/2018 23:53

Oh wow! I can’t believe the holes phobia has a name and other people share it!! I have this and it makes my skin crawl writing about it. I always thought it must be related to some traumatic incident that I’ve repressed.

I also have the fear of deep water.

EchoCardioGran · 15/11/2018 23:54

Count me in. I can't eat sausages because they are willy-like.
Even Linda McCartney veggie ones.
Shiver down spine just typing that.Grin

vampirethriller · 15/11/2018 23:55

Wooden bridges over water when I can see the water through the planks. Even over very shallow water.

BlueUggs · 15/11/2018 23:57

Trains that don't stop at your station and go flying through really fast.
Also, every time I'm getting off a train I worry the doors aren't going to open.

ShadyLady53 · 15/11/2018 23:57

Birds! Bloody chickens and pigeons and seagulls. Seagulls sit on your car bonnet and stare at you intimidatingly with there hooked beaks and their evil eyes and their claws. A seagull once stopped in front of me and flapped in my FACE, it’s feathers were in my mouth and I couldn’t make it stop. It was horrific. Turkeys with their scraggly neck bits and evil feet. Ostriches. I once ended up at in Ostrich derby. They raced the bloody things. Toward me. Dear God, the willies. I thought I was going to projectile vomit. They are giant birds, 6 or 7 foot with wayward head’s and necks and crazy legs. I actually need to leave bed and throw up.

Yes to the phone calls. And certain family members calling too. I have PTSD and GAD but thought I was the only one to be triggered regarding phones.

People coming up behind me

sudden loud noises

those ear guage piercings (apologies in advance to anyone who has one)

nuclear power station buildings. Not a CND member, I just hate the buildings, they look so creepy.

ShadyLady53 · 16/11/2018 00:00

I CAN’T STOP THINKING ABOUT OSTRICHES 😱😱😱

LostontheWestway · 16/11/2018 00:01

Oh and walking under or driving under pylons/the cables. It's the buzzing sound electricity makes, it makes the hairs on my neck stand on end.
I was once near one in fog and could see little sparks as the moisture touched the cables. Urgh!

DrFoxtrot · 16/11/2018 00:02

When someone has one random long fingernail and the others are bitten/ short proper heebie jeebies.

notavictim36 · 16/11/2018 00:03

BlueUggs you have just reminded me of something- I get creeped out by those train stations which are tiny and have no staff or concourse, just platforms.

I rarely travel by train but if i do, I make sure I do not need to make a change at those types of station. If anything goes wrong, there are no staff on hand and it just makes me feel vulnerable.

-I am a big baby, obviously-

Onlymeyousee · 16/11/2018 00:03

Large statues
Wind turbines
Large inflatables (ie bouncy castles)
Hot air balloons.

I think the theme is things that are a lot bigger and can fall on me or cover me (suffocate) But saying that, i don’t have a problem with large buildings. Confused

VenusClapTrap · 16/11/2018 00:03

People coming up behind me

I have that too. Since being mugged.

notavictim36 · 16/11/2018 00:04

Foxtrot Ugh. why do people DO that with their nails?
-I'm-a-bit-of-a-nail-snob-

BlueUggs · 16/11/2018 00:04

Mushy peas on top of chips
