The ‘butter or no butter’ thread has made me curious. My kids reckon loving butter is a generational thing, but I’d be surprised if all the butter lovers on here are over 50.

I’ll start. I’m 67 and I love butter.

“but I’d be surprised if all the butter lovers on here are over 50.”

Bollocks!
I’m 60, and love butter. Margarine is only good for baking IMO.
Why did you make such a silly statement?

Wash your mouth out InterstellarScreamingElla

SilverySurfer I always use tub Stork for my baking and everyone loves my cakes. They are never greasy. They are light yet moist.

AwkwardSquad · 10/11/2018 20:49

Same here, IckleWickle. Organic, from local dairy. Gorgeous stuff.

Oh, and I’m in my 50s.

TheWoollybacksWife · 10/11/2018 20:53

50 and allergic to butter (and cheese). Use Flora for baking and have dry bread for sandwiches, toast etc

Natsku · 10/11/2018 20:57

32 and love butter and like to cut a bit off to eat when I'm using it in cooking. But I preferred margarine when I was a child.

EnglishRose13 · 10/11/2018 20:57

29 and does Lurpak count?

ItsASunnyDay · 10/11/2018 21:02

34, absolutely love it

whymewhyme · 10/11/2018 21:05

34 loving butter since I was a baby!

Flatwhite32 · 10/11/2018 21:09

Recently turned 33! I love butter, but 16 week old DD has CMPA, so I'm currently dairy free. Butter is the thing that I miss the most. I have to disguise the taste of dairy free spread with jam!

hamburgers · 10/11/2018 21:11

30 and love butter!!!! On toast, in sandwiches, on crackers...

slappinthebass · 10/11/2018 21:19

I don't think it's an age thing, but a class thing.

BloomsButtons · 10/11/2018 21:22

I'm 42 and love butter. Was raised on Vitalite 🤢

MoreThanJustANumber · 10/11/2018 21:25
  1. Only eat butter. Hate everything about margarine and fake butter flavoured spread. Had butter growing up in the 60s but occasionally, if money was tight had Krona magazine, so for me margarine reminds me of being poor (as well as tasting awful).
houseofhungryboys · 10/11/2018 21:25

I'm 47
Mmmmmmm.......butter 😀👍

mamaduckbone · 10/11/2018 21:26

43 and love real butter.

sizzledrizz · 10/11/2018 21:26

Ok, I'm 51, and love butter. Was brought up on it, before all the hoo hah about sunflower marg being better for you etc. But no strictly back to butter and love it.

jmh740 · 10/11/2018 21:40

44 always use butter, ds 8 hates it and will only eat I can't believe it's not butter so we usually have a block of real butter, a tub of spreadable butter and the can't believe it rubbish

candlefloozy · 10/11/2018 21:47
  1. Love butter!!
Nanny0gg · 10/11/2018 21:53
  1. Love salted or unsalted. But the proper stuff, none of this spreadable nonsense.
SmiledWithTheRisingSun · 10/11/2018 21:58

Love it - Am 42. What was the butter thread?

Busybusybust · 11/11/2018 06:29

So, mostly 30s and loving butter! I’m very heartened to see that the next generation is keeping up the butter consumption.

64 and also butter only.

By coincidence, I've just been reading "The Classic Slum" ,covering life before and after IWW in Salford. Margarine was held in contempt. Now I think of my working class childhood, pretty low income, margarine was only for cooking.

AliceScarlett · 11/11/2018 07:01

33 love butter, now I'm a fucking vegan I have to walk away otherwise there are tears.

Booie09 · 11/11/2018 07:03

I used to use margarine until someone said they saw a documentary and said it was one molecule away from being plastic!! Don't know if it's true but I've used really butter ever since I'm 47.

diodon · 11/11/2018 07:04

43 and like butter it if its melted so toast or baked potato but not on sandwiches/scones etc.

Tunnocks34 · 11/11/2018 07:06

29 and I love butter.

Despise margerine - it has no taste at all. I love good, Irish butter 🤤
