The ‘butter or no butter’ thread has made me curious. My kids reckon loving butter is a generational thing, but I’d be surprised if all the butter lovers on here are over 50.

I’ll start. I’m 67 and I love butter.

Sorry OP, but 64 and not a big butter fan ..... as much because it doesn’t spread well as for any other reason.

Lana1234 · 10/11/2018 20:00

27 love butter, especially on crumpets. Marg for butties though!

Juanbablo · 10/11/2018 20:00

Babybearsporij · 10/11/2018 20:01

Mid 30s and I ruddy love it.

diamondofdoom · 10/11/2018 20:01

27 and I love it! Although find it's too hard to spread sometimes so I buy Flora buttery/clover to use if I'm in a rush.

Onestep2 · 10/11/2018 20:02

32 and there is nothing better than butter on warm crusty toasted bread

Amaaboutthis · 10/11/2018 20:04

I love it but usually buy cant believe it’s not butter or similar. My parents still eat flora DISGUSTING. Kids like it too. Mid 40’s

blueskiesandforests · 10/11/2018 20:10

I'd have said it was the other way around.

My parents are in their late 60s and mid 70s and have always had that "I can't believe its not butter" or similar predecessors and no butter in unless bought specifically for cooking.

I'm mid 40s and my kids are teen, preteen and smaller, and they all like butter - the youngest loves fresh hot toast with just butter better than any other breakfast.

Where we live almost all butter is unsalted - you have to search for salted butter. My kids were absolutely blown away by salted butter which we bought by accident in the UK and think it is mana from heaven.

gilmoregal · 10/11/2018 20:17

30 and love butter. Can't stand marj/spread absolutely the way to ruin a crumpet or toast.

bobstersmum · 10/11/2018 20:17

Racecardriver · 10/11/2018 20:19
  1. It’s the reason I’m not vegan. Everything else I could do without but butter is life.
3in4years · 10/11/2018 20:19
  1. No butter.
Kenworthington · 10/11/2018 20:20

43, love it

bobstersmum · 10/11/2018 20:21

I vaguely remember in what was possibly late 80s early 90s my mum going to pick up packs of what she called best butter and tins of stewed steak, it was free I believe, we were quite poor but I don't know what that was all about I am going to ask but it definitely happened!

DaffydownClock · 10/11/2018 20:22

I'm 64 and I love salted butter.
My parents wouldn't dream of having anything else and to my knowledge they've never even tried a butter substitute.
Nothing better on jacket potatoes, crusty fresh bread or fresh vegetables.

Thishatisnotmine · 10/11/2018 20:22

33, life-long butter-lover. Spread is waxy. I do keep a tub of margarine in the fridge though for emergency baking. Too rainy for the wark? Well lets make some fairy cakes instead! But that is all I will use spread for.

MaruMaru · 10/11/2018 20:24

51 and I love butter.
Parents tried to make us eat some hideous 'spread'- Outline???? in the eighties but the phase didn't last long.

Thishatisnotmine · 10/11/2018 20:24

*park. The wark can never be rained off.

ginyogarepeat · 10/11/2018 20:27

Been loving it since my early 30s! Couldn't ever go back to nasty, chemical-filled spreads after years of the real thing!

loraflora · 10/11/2018 20:29

54 and had Anchor as a child. I prefer unsalted butter now.

flumposie · 10/11/2018 20:32

47 and love butter. 8 year old won't touch it, or milk, cheese , eggs ....😣

SilverySurfer · 10/11/2018 20:36

70 something. Only proper butter for me. I once tried a Mary Berry Victoria sponge recipe using Stork Margarine and after one mouthful the cake went into the bin- greasy and horrible.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 10/11/2018 20:37

36 to be extremely shortly and love butter.

IckleWicklePumperNickle · 10/11/2018 20:39

Oh and mine comes from our milkman. They churn their own nomnom 😋
