I’m quite enjoying the desperation of Martin Freeman

In the new Vodafone ice skating ad.

He does a random ice skating performance, cheesier than owt you’d see on Dancing on Ice.

I always thought he came across as a bit of a knob, and my friend worked as a runner years back for Sherlock and said he was rude to nearly everybody, had it was known that he just not a ‘people person ’.

I always thought he wanted to be a serious actOR so maybe he just really needs the money right now.

I'm quite enjoying the irony of someone bitching about someone they've never met because apparently he isn't a "people person".

Yes, I'm sure he's weeping into his cornflakes of a morning having a steady income stream coming in.

CuriousaboutSamphire · 10/11/2018 17:30

Ah, but I know someone who knows someone and he said, she said Martin Freeman is a lovely bloke, a bit quiet, but ever so nice, generous too!

Or was that just something I made up, just cos?

Dunno!

LucilleBluth · 10/11/2018 17:31

I have a huge crush on him, I still see him as Tim.

SendintheArdwolves · 10/11/2018 17:33

I know someone who has a mate who used to go out with someone who worked on The Hobbit, and he said that Martin Freeman is actually three small dogs in an overcoat.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 10/11/2018 17:35

Are we not allowed to speculate about people on the telly then? I thought it was partly the point.

OP posts:
RayRayBidet · 10/11/2018 17:35

I have read somewhere that he and Benedict Cumberbatch absolutely loathe each other.

SheCameFromGreeceSheHadaThirst · 10/11/2018 17:38

The point of what? Of MN? Of television? The internet? Life?

KM99 · 10/11/2018 17:39

Speculate away. Just be prepared for a little flack when you come across as bitchy about it.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 10/11/2018 17:40

Of celebrity?
There are multiple threads randomly discussing various people in the public eye. It’s a discussion forum....

SendintheArdwolves · 10/11/2018 17:40

Speculate away. But you sound a bit catty - "hur hur, he looks stupid in that advert, he must need the money" etc.

And your reason for all this schadenfreude? You reckon he looks like a knob, and a friend said he was rude to people he works with.

OK.

KM99 · 10/11/2018 17:40

RayRayBidet the same Benedict Cumberbatch who is Godfather to one of his children? Must make special occasions awkward.

LucilleBluth · 10/11/2018 17:41

Op, this is mumsnet...I've seen numerous threads where Martin Freeman has been slagged off. The wind is blowing in the direction of not allowed to slag of MF today.

It's very random.

SendintheArdwolves · 10/11/2018 17:42

I read somewhere that he and benedict cumberbatch are actually the same person, and whenever you see them on screen together it's camera trickery.

HarrietKettleWasHere · 10/11/2018 17:42

Weird isn’t it Grin he’s been ripped to shreds on here before.

Briansbathrobe · 10/11/2018 17:43

Three small dogs in an overcoat Grin

I haven't seen those threads, but maybe they had more to go on than "he's in an advert I don't like"?

OzzyMadBat · 10/11/2018 17:47

YA only BU in not posting in Sleb Twaddle section! Wink Grin
Martin Freeman I don't care about, just think he should have sorted his now ex dp's tax bill before she had the bankruptcy furore.
The only time I liked him was when he massively eyerolled when towie or some such won a people's choice award bafta thing.

StoorieHoose · 10/11/2018 17:47

Yes it’s really weird that MN is NOT a hive mind and that, are you ready for this? Different people have differing opinions and might not post on every single thread!

OzzyMadBat · 10/11/2018 17:55

KM99 source?
Godfather in the show, yes but irl? I know Simon Pegg is but not heard that BC is.

ReanimatedSGB · 10/11/2018 17:57

Hang on, OP hasn't said anything libellous, or even seriously cruel. All public figures are fair game for a bit of snark - and many people have had at least one friend who has encountered at least one celebrity who is/was on that occasion a complete shitweasel.
(I have had various media jobs and a loooooong list of moderately famous people who I would quite like to see fall on their arses at least once.)

TinklyLittleLaugh · 10/11/2018 17:57

No way is Martin Freeman short of a few bob.

suzy2b · 10/11/2018 18:02

I don't know anyone who knows him but have read from other people that he is not very nice to people

Namechangechangename123 · 10/11/2018 18:04

He does have an air of self importance doesn’t he.

Thewheelsarefallingoff · 10/11/2018 18:06

I was re reading one of those threads about celebs that are bellends (I was trying to find the one about Ronan Keating) and MF came up a few times.

RhubarbTea · 10/11/2018 18:06

Three small dogs in an overcoat just made me howl with laughter after a really stressful week. Thank you.
