I’m quite enjoying the desperation of Martin Freeman

In the new Vodafone ice skating ad.

He does a random ice skating performance, cheesier than owt you’d see on Dancing on Ice.

I always thought he came across as a bit of a knob, and my friend worked as a runner years back for Sherlock and said he was rude to nearly everybody, had it was known that he just not a ‘people person ’.

I always thought he wanted to be a serious actOR so maybe he just really needs the money right now.

Is it really him ice skating?

I thought it was a double!!

Harriet, what a mean and nasty thread. I'm sure he's quite happy doing the ad!

You've never seen Footloose or Flatliners?

I’m guessing not if she’d never heard of Kevin Bacon.

Havent posted here for an age. In fact had to rejoin it's been so long. But I do read posts here regularly.. had to comment on this one though :) I am a big Freeman fan. I have met him a number of times, a few before I became a fan at events he and I were both at. ( And no I'm not pretending to be a celeb. He was at events in a support capacity, I was working)
I think it's a free world and anyone can speculate about others, but to say he must be desperate for money? Hmm aren't most of us parents here? He has children to support and a home in central London. He is a successful actor but expenses go on and on so why not take a job when it pays so much? Many of us have a laugh at these voda adverts. But he's having the last laugh really when he banks his paycheck.
As for him being grumpy? He has always made it clear that he doesn't suck up to people just for the sake of it. But he is professional. Having met him at fundraising events he was absolutely polite and courteous. I have also met him at stage door. When after two hours on stage he spent two hours with fans not once moaning. He made every fan feel like they had a nice experience. I know for a fact he does this regularly when he does stage work. I say.. go Martin Freeman... Nice to see a gorgeous older man doing well for himself and being true to what he does. You always get people celeb bashing especially those who work behind the scenes.. maybe jealousy is at play?
