mindutopia, I think you're overstating the case. The absolute top end estimate of incidence of people with disorders of sexual development (or intersex people) I've seen is 1.7% of the population, and medics/biologists don't all accept that. To get the numbers up that high you have to include people with chromosomal or other disorders that affect fertility amongst other things, but which don't affect the external appearance of the genitalia. It's vanishingly rare for anybody to have a penis and not to have a Y chromosome. Almost everybody, even with a DSD, is clearly male or clearly female from conception onwards.

It's also totally irrelevant to the transgender issue, as almost nobody identifying as trans has any disorder of sexual development currently known.

What an ignorant thread shriek.

PutYourShirtOnMartin · 10/11/2018 16:54

Foncy why is this an ignorant thread?

lassupthebrew · 10/11/2018 16:55

How can it be ignorant if those 14 transsexuals linked on the last page support the argument in here?

Shriek · 10/11/2018 16:56

I can see, and genuinely support someone who, born in a male body, feels wrong and in the wrong body, and feels female, denouncing maleness, the prime feature of which is a penis.

I thought that was the point though. That they denounced maleness as they are unhappy with it, don't relate to it, feel wrong with it.
I think thats an horrendous experience to go through and wish I could just snap my fingers fairygodmother-like and transform to female for them, or vice-versa.
But this strange breed of men-wanting-to-be-women-but-loving-their-penis

We might be waiting a while for an answer to that question, PutYourShirtOnMartin!

Foncy, can you define what a woman is? You need to avoid any reference to gender stereotypes. Should be easy, surely?

I'll go first: a woman is an adult human female. The Oxford English Dictionary agrees with me: en.oxforddictionaries.com/definition/woman

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 10/11/2018 16:56

Not an ignorant thread at all shriek. Clearly.

Foncy explain your comment.

Shriek · 10/11/2018 16:58

Thats rude!
No explanations, just rude Foncy

Women don't have penises.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 10/11/2018 17:04

I don’t see how it can be transphobic to say that anyone with a penis, who uses it to rape someone, is NOT a woman!

Using your penis to rape is a uniquely male crime.

I do accept that someone could be in the process of transitioning, living as a woman, with every intention of having the medical and surgical treatment that will remove the penis and testicles and create a vagina-style opening, and will change the appearance wrt breasts, facial hair etc - but could still have a penis. It is still a penis, though, not a lady-penis.

Nicknamesalltaken · 10/11/2018 17:05

If TWAW and women have penises, those women with penises would be standing up for women not erasing them.

We have to be empathetic to the needs of trans people but it’s a one way street. And there’s the maleness of their socialisation.

When the bepenised women are woke to what it means to be a woman and stand with us, we might be more inclined to return to the goodwill they enjoyed before.

They have their trans sisters to thank for the current situation. This isn’t of women’s making.

Fairenuff · 10/11/2018 17:06

Posters who do what Foncy did are called ploppers Grin

But they might come back to discuss properly, you never know.

DisrespectfulAdultFemale · 10/11/2018 17:07

What an ignorant comment, Foncy.

lassupthebrew · 10/11/2018 17:09

Nicknames, are not those 14 transsexual women in the blog standing up for women by calling on the police to base statistics on reality?

TopBitchoftheWitches · 10/11/2018 17:17

Biological women do not have a penis.
Biological women are having their safe spaces, normal spaces and rights infiltrated by transgender woman (not trans sexual).

For extra info please google cotton ceiling.

Nicknamesalltaken · 10/11/2018 17:18

And thank god for those 14 and all the others who are using their voices. I am heartened by those I see on the echo chamber that is Twitter. I hope we will hear more, stronger, louder voices being heard.

LiverpoolReSisters · 10/11/2018 17:18

Women don't have penises.

PietariKontio · 10/11/2018 17:20

Women do not have penises. Some might call me a transphobe for thinking that.

However, I do not self identify as a transphobe, so therefore I am not.

To question my identity as a non-transphobe is literal violence.

My feelings about my phobic identity are as valid, if not more so, than any facts someone might present to prove otherwise.

Yeah, I'm in a mood.

'If that's not transphobic I don't know what is.'

I'm so sorry as can now see others have referred to your post as sarcastic/sardonic @Bombardier25966 - and I'm sorry as before I read their posts I automatically reported yours as a personal attack as clearly it's both bollocks and personally offensive to call someone 'transphobic' for stating such an obvious truth and I utterly misread your comment, it flew over my head so again, apologies Blush

In the interests of full disclosure, one of my adult DC is a a loud and proud member of the LGBT community and I'm an equally loud and proud Mamma to them and each and every one of their many and varied friends, ALL of whom have been discriminated against at one time or another and ALL of whom I'd fight for. Equally, I fight for the right for women's safe spaces to remain just that and free from male bodied penis-owning people (for reasons which should be patently obvious). And I'm buggered if someone would call me transphobic for the latter when so much of my energy goes into the former.

Women wanting to maintain safe spaces and protection against predators who would abuse self-ID to gain access to them (see the rapist posing as 'Karen' et al who have done/will do precisely that) does NOT make them 'transphobic'. (And I apologise again to @Bombardier25966 for reporting them as I genuinely thought they were serious Blush - can see how absurd that is now, bit morto if honest BlushBlushBlush )

Are the likes of Myra Hindley and Rose West not women? They must not be if doing awful things is something only men do.

Anyway. Yes, I think it is unreasonable to link whether someone is a man or a woman to how nice or nasty they are. It is irrelevent in my view. It is like using someone's behaviour to prove that they are not blond or Scottish or anything else that is not defined on morality or criminality.

lassupthebrew · 10/11/2018 17:34

I agree, Nicknamesalltaken, thank you. Though from reading the blog it would seem unlikely any of them do still have a penis, but once did and understand the biological reality of that. This has to be where we should be heading not police officers terrified of speaking the truth in case someone accuses them of transphobia.

Shriek · 10/11/2018 17:38

Think you've missed the point, either quite badly, JAPAP or deliberately ^
Am going to give you the benefit of the doubt, and explain again, that the point is about the men being mislabelled, as women, as its very important that the public and society at large are not misled about the truth. Any truth, but this truth is part of a greater problem you see, it puts women's and children's lives at risk, and skews reality.
It is reality that we live in a patriarchal society, and this only seves to enforce that through the oldest weapon of war known to man, rape with a penis.
Do you think that there is such a thing as a female penis?

CaveMum · 10/11/2018 17:38

The stats on Transwomen going through surgery to remove their genitalia (something you’d think was pretty crucial to them as they’ve been “born in the wrong body”) is telling. Something like 90% of transwomen NEVER have any surgery.
