To be really angry my DD took my coffee on a weekend away, without asking?

I’m an early riser. I have sleep issues (wake up and can’t get back to sleep), so I follow a fairly strict sleep hygiene routine. That includes no caffeine after 10am. I also have digestion issues and diverticulitis so I need to be “regular”, which routine includes my morning coffee. I look forward to my lovely huge mug of coffee every morning. This morning, it’s gone. Extra large jar of Dow Egbert coffee is gone. Hard to miss a jar that size. My DD left last night for a weekend away with friends, renting a large self-catering house. Dare I suspect she’s the culprit? If so, AIBU to me REALLY angry with her? (FYI, looked in bin and recycling just in case accidentally broken - not there).

I hear you OP, and I don't think you are unreasonable to be angry with her. She has been unkind and inconsiderate, when it would presumably not have been difficult to buy her own, or decant some into another container to take/leave.

Also, I think you may have accidentally switched on the dick magnet with your post, as it seems to have attracted a lot of them. Might want to get that checked before you post again.

AllTakenSoRubbishUsername · 11/11/2018 19:16

It is actually a bit funny that you are so grumpy about a jar of coffee. At least she didn't raid your booze cupboard! Think no more of it and get some more coffee Hmm

lljkk · 11/11/2018 19:34

Is your DD back from her weekend away? Coffee-gate update needed. :)

GoAwayScaryVampire · 11/11/2018 20:26

Why am I reading this Confused

Teacher22 · 11/11/2018 20:52

I am totally on your side, OP. Don’t give your DD the opportunity to do this again. Obviously, you love her more than the coffee but she has been very, very naughty. Hide the coffee.

AdoreTheBeach · 11/11/2018 21:01

Hi. Yes, she did take it, saying she didn’t think.

Someone asked, yes, the alcohol has been raided in the past (or watered) but not for years. Usual teen thing and DD no longer a teen, knows better so added to my not being particularly pleased with this. This though was selfishness. I did say I wouldn’t have minded, just ask first and I would have gladly bought some for her weekend away or at least leave me some for a cup.

I am looking to buy a mug with something similar to this

Did she bring the remaining coffee back with her?

Nanny0gg · 11/11/2018 21:27

Did she realise the impact on you?

Runnynosehunny · 11/11/2018 21:30

Yes I would be very unhappy to find my coffee missing on a morning 😈 Dd had better come through with a nice gift of some fancy coffee for you to make up for it.

notacooldad · 11/11/2018 21:37

Jeez. Your response seems well over the top.
My daily routine is that at 07.00 virtually every morning I'm at home DP makes me a coffee and I have that in bed and after DP has had a shower I have a second cup of coffee. This has gone on for over 28 years.
A few weeks ago D's came in late and drank the last of the milk. I couldn't have my two brews
A pain but I didn't get angry or even really angry. A bit miffed maybe. That's the only coffee I would drink in a day ( I don't drink tea) so had to wait 24 hrs.
Nothing bad happened and everyone lived.

caringcarer · 11/11/2018 22:41

Just go and buy another jar. If it is this important to you I am surprised you don't have a spare jar.

SavageBeauty73 · 11/11/2018 23:01

It's annoying but shops are open on Sunday mornings 🤷‍♀️

ThumbWitchesAbroad · 11/11/2018 23:46

I like your mug choice, Adore!

Notacooldad - guessing you don't have bowel problems then, so your routine isn't really comparable, is it.

svalentine60 · 12/11/2018 00:36

Good lord. First world problems. YABU and slightly ridiculous. Buy some more coffee.

Charslie · 12/11/2018 06:40

😂 My thoughts exactly bert3400

haloumi · 12/11/2018 08:01

You're a grown woman. It's coffee...

Get over it.

Speak to your daughter, rather than the whole world on social media

Raven88 · 12/11/2018 08:03

My mum would kill me if I did that. You never mess with the coffee.

PeppyPiggy · 12/11/2018 10:24

You are being ridiculous.. and your list of issues and needs Hmm caffeine is a drug, it is terrible for your health. Stop getting your knickers in a twist and maybe take the opportunity to unhook yourself from your daily caffeine (drug) addiction.

PeppyPiggy · 12/11/2018 10:33

Looking again at the little list of issues you have presented I would strongly advise you not to be taking caffeine... Take aloe vera juice or supplements to maintain being “regular”. Cut down on sugar and dairy. Take a berocca in the mornings, also make sure you have enough iron. You will be sleeping like a baby once all those toxins are flushed out and you wont be getting stressed at everything

Drug addiction Hmm

PeppyPiggy · 12/11/2018 11:30

Yup, drug addiction. Caffeine is a drug, it's a fact. It is terrible for your health.

PeppyPiggy · 12/11/2018 12:05

oh come on @Jane Jeffer lol! you can find any article telling you any vice is great for you! I'm not going to back and forth about the fact that caffeine is a drug and is detrimental to your body. What on earth kind of site have you taken this from as well! this is a fat loss site trying to sell silly challenges, actually look at your resources.. I just typed "cocaine benefits" into google and guess what, the same load of nonsense articles as the one you just sent.

JaneJeffer · 12/11/2018 12:14

That website has links to all the studies plus a gorgeous man, what more could you want?
